I havnt the time to read the rest of this thread, but I basically agree with everything Ali has said in his last two posts, escpessially this point: quote:russians, although traditionally your allies, are little more symphatetic towards you then the turks are when interests collide, and youu would agree, wouldn't you, tat there could be a clash between you and the russians over conflicts of interest in the caucasus if it weren't for the turkish - or broader speaking, muslim - threat. russians just use us as a bogey to keep you in check. if we weren't there, they could be turks to you. They have basically been the 'Turks' with all their other neighbours, escept maybe the Central Asian republics (Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan etc). Drive-time desperado crashes and yearns By Drive-time desperado crashes and yearns The Sydney Morning Herald Monday June 17 2002 An unemployed Italian man from Turin has been charged with fraud, harassment and damage to property after allegedly orchestrating at least 500 car crashes in a doomed effort to meet young women. The driving record of Andrea Cabiale, arrested in March, has astonished and even amused many of his neighbours. But for the hundreds of women unlucky enough to meet him on the road, an encounter with Cabiale was a distressing and costly experience. A minor bump, always apparently the woman's fault, was usually followed by an informal cash settlement and months of telephone calls and rejected invitations to dinner. Patrizia Caiero, 28, who crashed into one of Cabiale's vehicles a year ago, said he "got out giving the impression that he was going to be really decent about it. He said he didn't want to make a formal claim ... It became a nightmare. He was ringing me six or seven times a day. "At first it was all about the car, then it started getting personal." Inspector Muscarello believes that Cabiale, who has amassed the largest number of accidents in Italian motoring history, has been seeking out vulnerable women drivers for at least 10 years. Cabiale, a shy-looking bearded man of 40, appears determined to fight the charges. The number of accidents, he said, was a result of bad Italian driving habits. When a number of victims complained to police of harassment, the scale of Cabiale's hazardous dating game was quickly exposed. Police searching his flat found 2159 photographs of damaged vehicles and their female owners, all taken by Cabiale immediately following his accidents. An address book was also found, containing hundreds of names and phone numbers, all belonging to women aged between 20 and 40. In one of Cabiale's cars investigators found a mechanism that temporarily disabled the vehicle's brake lights. When Inspector Maurizio Muscarello contacted the women concerned, all told a similar story of running their car into the back of Cabiale's vehicle at traffic lights or a junction. He would then suggest an informal settlement. Happy not to lose their no-claims bonus, most women agreed and handed over contact details. Patrizia Caiero, 28, who crashed into one of Cabiale's vehicles a year ago, said he "got out giving the impression that he was going to be really decent about it. He said he didn't want to make a formal claim ... It became a nightmare. He was ringing me six or seven times a day. "At first it was all about the car, then it started getting personal." Larissa, dont mind our friend Winston (THOTH) he is a little.....erm.....crazy. Don't worry though we have infomed the related authorities and he is soon to be added to Bush's axis of evil (dont ask). As for myself, (according to Winston) I live in New Zealand, quite a few thousand kilometres from Glendale, so cant really help you . -
I never make my bed, and I couldnt care less how it looked even if we had guests (though my mum usually does make my bed when we have people coming over, but to put it into perspective, this is to make her look better, since she is the only female in this household). Recently my dad took some photoes of the mess in my room to show my future wife . But many of my friends have rooms in far worse shape, so I dont know what the fuss is all about .

LOL, check out Miss Sweden (black) in national costume . And Miss Australia is pretty good too, scpessially in the swimsuit , certainly miles better than the dirty Miss USA. But Portugal has by far the best face.
-
Went to the missuniverse site, she looks like a typical Russian (face), in fact most of the contenders had unatractive facial features, except for Miss Portugal, absolutelly gorgeous, check her out....

quote:What an iron logic... Very impressive... quote:What logic...? quote:which itself is a testimony of total schizophrenia. quote:"let's clean our own back yard, first."No need to worry, I very much doubted the individual that came up with the tripe stated above would understand my 'logic'. I guess its back to scrabble with the children then, MJ.

quote:there is some(quite a bit)deal of truth in the Georgian material above, and it is very widely recognized. That may be so, but one must realise that we are a nation that has been under intense pressure from all sides (neighbours) since birth, hence it is only reasonable to have such a 'schizophrenic' reaction from people among us. On the other hand, countries like the US (biggest terrorist of em all), has managed to terrorise the rest of the world into submission not for SURVIVAL but for MONEY. We have only tried to survive.....

quote:What do you think the so-called war in Afganistan is REALLY about? Getting oil from the former Soviet Central Asian Republics to the sea via Afganistan and Pakistan. Yes, very true. There is plenty of oil in the Caspian that hasnt been tapped. quote:During World War II the Bush family was involved, through dummy corporations, in selling munitions to Germany and it's allies, while openly selling munitions to the Allies. I just know one thing, it would be pretty difficult in war time to manufacture and ship munitions for weapons of German design to an enemy on the other side of the world. It certainly would not be worth the risk as it would only be possible to ship insignificant amounts of munitions without getting caught. But then again, the 'current' Bush is known for far more idiotic behaviour.

quote:the women in the "traditional" families were treated more like pets and objects than humansI dont think I have ever seen a pet run a household, and have (human) children. In fact I think Armenian women have it pretty sweet, unlike the men who have to work their a$$es off for the rest of their lives to put food on the table and insure the best possible future for the children. The women can CHOOSE either to work or stay at home and look after the household. Of course sometimes they must work (when family in financial difficulties) or must stay at home (newborn baby), but at other times they can do either, unlike in a Western society where the female partner MUST also have carreer, so that they are 'independent', independent of what? their own family and children?
-
Bell, why do you care for Armenian history? Are you a historian of sorts?
-
quote:You are saying that since women are really important to the nation, they should do what men tell them to do?I never said that men should tell women what to do, but there simply must be mutual respect. Besides, I think we all know who is usually 'boss' in a typical Armenian family .

quote:Perhaps this is an ideal for a weak male like Artur (and youself?). What do you mean by 'weak male'? Insecure in ones life? quote:I still lived in a culture that repressed women The Armenian culture does not repress women, but highlights their importance to this nation. quote:I can't wait to see how we evolve itYou can't improve on perfection quote:Thus I was raised (essentially) American. Thus lies the heart of the problem, you ARE an American. quote:how you can say I am living my life wrong in any way is beyond me. Well, it would be for you pretty difficult to understand then, since I also assume you neither speak Armenian, nor have ever been to Armenia or have any Armenian friends. Maybe some people like urself who have some sort of 'connection', but were 'essentially raised an American' quote:I will live my life as I choose - and who are you ever to judge me?Firstly, I am suggesting, not judging. Secondly, since I have found out that you are 'essentially' an American, I have nothing further to suggest to you. quote: most everyone thinks of me as being Armenian - I am always explaining who Armenians are, and aspects of our history, culture (incl foods, arts etc) - etc etc What you say to you fellow Americans is of no consequence. I also know a great deal about Turkish and Russian culture, history, cuisine etc. Does that make me a Turk or a Russian? quote: I mean communisim has always bee (perhaps) a great "ideal" - but what does that have to do with reality?I will answer this when I get into phylosophy . Starting soon, with an introductory book on all the major phylosophers, beliefs etc. quote:...at what point do you not consider us as "true" Armenians? For me personally, those that stop practicing our culture (ie. language, religion, community etc.) Hence I believe, one could be ethnically anything, but if they live 'our' way, then they are Armenian. Mind you, this would be impossible unless they lived in Armenia for an extended number of years. I think the same applies anywhere, including America. I dont think the average American would consider a newly arrived, practicing Muslim, that doesnt speak English but has the citizenship, an American. quote:Please list for me these "ideals" No sex before marriageFaith (I guess the above should be included in this) Various standards of behaviour etc. quote:that you yourself cannot meet. Is hypocrisy one of these ideals we should all aspire to? I didnt say we MUST MEET THE IDEALS. BUT WE MUST ASPIRE TO THEM TO THE BEST OF OUR ABILITIES! And if your looking for hypocrites, look at your government.....

someone post some pics or link up?

THOTH, I think was has happened is that Artur comes from a relativelly affluant Armenian family, and he can uphold those ideals, ideals that I agree with. The problem is, that the majority of Armenians in Armenia barely make ends meet, and conforming to these ideals is not their first priority. Though, this should not be used as an excuse to not aspire for them. While you, living outside Armenia have taken up the ideals of your host country, which I believe to be wrong. Sure, you'll have to live by their laws and customs, but you should still aspire to our ideals and hence agree with Artur, however 'unrealistic' and 'old fashioned' he may sound.

I live in Australia my friend And the Sti has been selling here (through Subaru) since late last year. We were the only counntry outside Japan to get the previous Sti, which was much better (lighter, more powerful etc.) Current version has better dinamics... quote:Oh, I'm sorry - I just noticed you are from New Zealand....now watch for those sheep crossing the road...During the Florida recount fiasco, I remember seing an anti-Bush demonstration on CNN. One of the demostrators was holding a piece of cardboard with "The whole world is laughing!" written on it. This was a year ago, but Im still laughing.......

quote:This is something set in stone, probably at birth. Its set in stone because society allows such behaviour and at times even condones it (eg. MardiGras). As far as I am concerned your cousin and his 'boyfriend' should be publicly shot as a lesson to others. Long live the Inquisition. LOL

Yes yes, the other day on CNN this American lady (Political analyst) was speaking, she was saying how every time there is a vote in the UN to bann the development and use of biological and chemical weapons etc, the only countries that vote against it are US and the 'terrorists' (North Korea, Iran, Iraq etc.) LOL. go figure......
