  1. THOTH, I bet you also wore long hair (maybe a beard) and those funny pants that widenned from the knees to the feet . Here (and now) university life isnt as politically orientated, sure you have the occasional leftie trying to teach you Marx, but most are not taken seriously. As for university life, apparently we're going to a strip joint tonight, with a few drinks I hope it doesnt lead to me cursing my self-control tomorow morning. LOL.
  2. quote:3 ouf of my 6 cylinders decided to die on me in the middle of no where Ouch! Thats half the reason why I'm not really enthusiastic about 4WDing. I mean sure you have other people with you to help you out, but breaking down, or worse still having an accident can give you a major headache
  3. A fascinating fact about a Formula One car: At 90km/h it generates enough downforce that could support its weight (600kg) if it was racing upside-down!
  4. Seaphan, I just had a closer look at those photoes, and must admit their mouthwaterring. But how many times a year to you have the chance of using the capabilities of your Blazer off the beaten track?
  5. Azat, just did a little search, the S60 costs AUS$55,000 here (base model), considering the exchange rate its a little less what you paid. But I think, the wages are better in the US in line with the more intense working environment. [ July 17, 2002, 05:48 PM: Message edited by: Accelerated ]
  6. Sorry guys, but thats one ugly car that belongs in the 70s
  7. No, I dont get anything! Mos better fix me up soon or he might find me on his doorstep one day with a sledgehammer.
  8. Wow, I was expecting enthusiasm, but not this much... the thread has taken off... quote:They recently installed a blow-off valve on the turbo so when he drives the car goes ... vrrrrroooom ptshhhhhhhh ... vrrrrrroooom ptshhhhhhhh ... it's the sweetest sound!!!! There are few sweeter engine notes in this world than the warble of a boxer. Add blow-off valve for aural ensemble! quote:I may be purchasng a WRX STi as soon as it is available here in the states (this fall?). I am not sure when, but I am pretty sure the US market will be getting it. Mind you, the previous WRX was better, both in Sti trim and standard, mainly because it was some 150kg lighter. Australia was the ONLY country in the world to officially get the previous Sti (400 were imported). My friend got one, I drove it , a few months later he crashed it into a pole at over 120km/h. The car was a ride-off and so would have been a front-passenger. The insurance refused to pay because they argued he was speeding. Also, it might be worth waiting a year if you dont like the exterior styling of the Rex (WRX nickname here). Because the famous stylist of the current Alfa Romeo (I forget his name) range has been hired by Subaru to restyle the Impreza, and the facelifted version will be available (in Japan) at the end of this year quote:still some very severe Turbo Lag.Thats part of the fun! quote:I love the Supra Twin Turbo - for many years my car of choice (an intended buy) - but it is no longer sold here (is it still made over in Japan? No, they discontinued in 1998, hopefully there will be a replacement coming soon, but no word on it yet quote:The Skyline has never been available here The Skyline doesnt look much, but it has a fearsome reputation everywhere its been. the 2.6L Twin Turbo engine can be souped up to 1000bhp. quote:Nissan Turbo Z (new version of that car is out nowI dont like the 'retro' looks quote:Looking foreward to what Audi will do with the new S4. Anyone know when it will be comming out?I am not a big fan of Audis, they look great, but their chassis is a let-down. quote:I will get the M5.The M5 is a fast limo, too heavy. Save yourself a handful of money and get an M3 instead. quote:However I have never fallen in love with any car. Probabaly because you'd have to be over 50 to fall in love with a Volvo! Guys, I cant believe you can afford such expensive cars. I mean the M5 here costs almost AUS$200,000 and the Volvo S60 in the vacinity of AUS$100,000. Are prices less in the US or do you guys just get paid obcene wages?
  9. I just love cars, and I am sure there are many among you with a similar passion (notably Sip ). European cars are expensive here, but the Japanese are among the cheapest in the world (Japan is Australias 1st trading partner hence favourable trading conditions). We also have right-hand drive (same as Japan) making importing exotic cars that arnt officially sold possible. Notably the Toyota Supra (Twin-Turbo 'sex-on-wheels' escpessially the sports-roof version), and the Nissan Skyline GT-R (for its price arguably the most value-for-money sportscar). Both have very reliable engines that can be easilly modified to produce even more power. I dont really like American muscle cars, too big, sllopy and heavy. The engines (in most cases also belong in another era). European cars are the best of course, my favourite makers being BMW and of course Ferrari. BMW have a great car in the M3 but it costs a whopping AUS$140,000 here (approx AUS$1 = US$0.55) My car of choice as you might have guessed is currently the Subaru Imreza WRX Sti (Sti stands for Subaru Technica International is the same to Subaru as the 'M' division is to BMW). I am hoping to get one in a couple of years (I know, I know YEARS), but its the earliest, there is no way I can afford one now at AUS$55,000, am only a student. But this car is light and powerful and you dont have to pay extra for gimmicky retro exterior and interior (a la Nissan Z and Audi TT). 0-100km/h in Porshe 911 equalling 5.45 sec quarter mile in mid 13 seconds 4WD with limited-slip-diffrentials at the front and rear, this car will beat ANY OTHER production car on a loose surface (eg. gravel) except arguably the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution. But the Mitsu is not a good everyday drive proposition. Considering the most suburban roads are very different to the tarmac on a race-track, the Subaru and the Mitsu are the fastest cars from point-to-point, thats right better than any Ferrari or Porche. Latelly I have also become interested in 4WD's largelly because of those photoes posted on Seapans site . I love the 'go-anywhere' attitude, not having to go around round-abouts LOL, just go over. But I dont think its for me, I am quite the lazy type and packing and checking the car for an arduous 4WD trip is not my cup of tea, maybe Seaphan can convince me otherwise. . Thats all I have time for right now, please post your oppinions and comments and we can get something going. If you can be bothered include your answers for the stuff below: Current drive: Family 1994 Toyota Camry, work 2000 Toyota HiLux (utility) Will to drive within next couple of years :Subaru Impreza WRX Sti YEAH! Dream car to drive: Ferrari Formula One .
  10. Let them do as they wish, because every such step (confiscation of property from others) brings them closer to their demise.
  11. LOL, Hagarag, your life is one never ending complaint. Why dont you get some pot in you, sure to spice things up a little.
  12. I havnt seen him enough, really, only the photoes on the Wimbledon site. And by the looks of things he doesnt look very Armenian, to me anyway. I will be watching the final in a few hours for sure, maybe then I'll change my mind. btw. I really hate Hewitt, even though he is from Australia, he is the biggest d!ckhead, I'm going to love watching him LOSE! .
  13. quote:Having said that, we should now act in a much better organized way without losing our moral compass. The world has seen enough militaristic nations. It does not need another one.I think thats exactly what we need (in the Republic), something along the lines of pre-1870 Prussia or the Third Reich (minus racism). It will stamp out corruption and instill nationalism and self-sufficiency (untill better times). On the side note, one of you guys mentioned that the Montherland should be nurturing the diaspora. I think Republic has exactly the opposite view (ie. that we should nurture it), both sides are blind to the plight of the other...
  14. Great News! But he doesnt look very Armenian in the photoes, except maybe for the nose . Check out the Wimbledon site: http://www.wimbledon.org/players/atpn301.html I havnt had the chance to see any of his games, but at only 20 years old he promises potential. Here is the interview he gave after he won the Quarters: quote:D. NALBANDIAN/N. Lapentti 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 4-6, 6-4 MODERATOR: David Nalbandian. Who would like to start? Q. Are you shocked? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Excuse me? Q. Are you shocked? DAVID NALBANDIAN: What is that? Q. Are you surprised? DAVID NALBANDIAN: A little bit, yes. My first time in Wimbledon being in semifinals I think is very good result for me. I hope to be ready for tomorrow. Q. Can you tell us how this happened? You are surprised, but how did it really happen? How did you get this far? DAVID NALBANDIAN: I don't know (laughter). Q. RichardKrajicek couldn't even pronounce your name. DAVID NALBANDIAN: Nobody. Is difficult name. No, I think I'm a little lucky in the draw. But I think I was playing very good in the tournament. Today I think Lapentti is a great player. I was two sets up. Then I think I was a little bit nervous or something like that. He start playing good again. I think was a difficult match, like every match is here in Wimbledon. But I think I was practicing very good before in Argentina in grass courts. You know, my first time in grass, being in semifinal, is great. Q. You were a semifinalist in the Junior event here, correct? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, I do. Q. You were disqualified? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah. Q. Because you were late to the match, if I understand correctly. DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, they change the schedule, and I never know it. Q. How early are you going to come to the semifinal? DAVID NALBANDIAN: I think I going to sleep here (smiling). Q. How upset were you then? Were you very angry? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, yeah. You know, when I was Juniors, was semifinalist, then was default or walk-over. For me was terrible. But, you know, the life have a revenge, and I'm here again, semifinals again, so is not so bad. Q. Were you born in Argentina? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, I do. I born Argentina. Q. Do you speak Armenian? DAVID NALBANDIAN: No, nothing. Q. How many grass courts are there in Argentina? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Not much. Seven courts. Q. Do you play on them much? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Yeah, all Argentinian players were practicing on there before Wimbledon, so that's it. Just a few courts. Q. Where is it? It's artificial grass? DAVID NALBANDIAN: No, it's natural grass. Q. Where? DAVID NALBANDIAN: In Buenos Aires. Q. I believe you're the first person in their first time in Wimbledon to reach the semis in the first try, since John McEnroe in 1977. Also, like John McEnroe, you were disqualified for being late to a Grand Slam event. Do you think you have anything else in common with McEnroe? DAVID NALBANDIAN: No. I think John is a great, great player. I think I have a long way to be like him. Q. Do you feel you're still learning how to play on grass? DAVID NALBANDIAN: For us, very difficult play on grass. For all Argentinians, is very difficult. But I think the first matches was very, very important for me to take confidence and a great feeling, well. And then I starting playing very good. I have to play tomorrow semis. Q. Growing up, who was your tennis idol and who did you maybe model your game after? DAVID NALBANDIAN: I start playing for Boris Becker. When he won here the first time, I just started playing tennis. So he was my idol forever. I don't think I play like Becker, but he was my idol, for sure. Q. How much do you know about Xavier Malisse? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Not much. He's a very, very good player. He's in semis also, so he must be playing very good here. I think he has very good results at last US Open. I think he do fourth round or quarters. He beat Henman there. I think he's a very good, talent player. Is going to be a tough match. Q. Did you not play him in the Juniors? DAVID NALBANDIAN: No, never. Q. What has been the biggest court you have played on? You'll probably have Centre tomorrow. What is the biggest court you've played on before? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Before, I play Centre in French Open. Q. Lapentti was very upset. He said because there were two South Americans, they were on Court 2. It was very unfair that a quarterfinal was there, and it's going to be hard for you to adjust to Centre. DAVID NALBANDIAN: I think the same here. He was talking with me before the match. If I won, or he won, is going to be difficult tomorrow play first time in Centre Court. We never play in the stadiums in Wimbledon. I think is a bad decision from the referee. But I don't know. We have to play whatever they say, and that's it. Q. Do you think it will be a problem going out on Centre Court on the most famous court in tennis? How do you think you will handle that? DAVID NALBANDIAN: Is very different play in central or Court No. 1 and outside courts. The visual is different. The feeling is different. And I think the players who was playing before in central court have a more chances or different, so they know the feeling, they know everything. I just play Court No. 2 quarters, so is a big difference. Q. Over the last couple of years, it's been very difficult to get clay court-type players to come to Wimbledon. Do you think that will change now as a result of these results this year? DAVID NALBANDIAN: I think every players, they come here, and he say, "We can't play here on grass." And I think you can do everything. I think it's not too difficult -- is difficult, but not too much. If you are focus, if you think you can do everything. But I think if you come here and you say, "I can't play," you never going to do it. But if you come and you say, "Okay, I'm going to try, I'm going to enjoy the games," that's big difference. Q. Where did you first learn tennis? Can you tell us a little about your hometown? DAVID NALBANDIAN: I born in Unquillo, a very, very small city. I start playing when I was five years in hard courts. I don't know. The town is 20,000 peoples, so it's very, very small. I like that. I always back home. It's great for me, Argentina. Cordoba is great.
  15. Khan, and Carsten Jancker (shaved head, 191cm striker) look like they have just been relieced from their duties at the Hitler Youth .
  16. Something very interesting on the topic. A few nights ago I heard on the news that the most widespread desease/illness among children in the Western World is Attention Deficit Syndrome
  17. quote:That was all, but the way it came out you could feel that he was talking about his greatest love. I was touched by it.Ohhh! How cute.... The only thing that touched me while I was watching him last night was the excessive amount of alcohol I had subjected my liver to.
  18. The Final turned out as I had suspected, Germany played their best in this tournament, I think Brazil played a little better against England and Turkey, but they nevertheless managed to totally outclass the opponent. As I had predicted without Ballack, Oliver Neuville would decide the game for the Germans, and he almost did from a long range free kick. PS: Ronaldos 'haircut' is terrible, the guys I was with were drunk and we named him "pubie", because his haircut looked like the pubic hair of a women. LOL. Korea played crap, though that game was probably more of a contest...
  19. Sorry guys, but its too much of a hassle trying to read Armenian written in latin letters.
  20. F%$#%$! Spend half-n-hour writing a preview, and my internet connection to f&^$ up on me as I was posting. Sorry guys, cant be bothered retyping. F&^$&^ &*%*%* N&^&(^( (&*^(&*^#!@$#. Anyways my guesses were in final Brazil 80% Germany 20% and in other game, Korea 60% and Turkey 40%.
  21. Thats basically my point of view Mos, not so the wife can stay at home with the kids, but so she can have a CHOICE (of course as i mentioned before, it is sometimes more preferable that she does work or stay at home)
  22. I will be posting my in depth preview of the Final later today (if i get the time). I thought Turkey played consistently throughout the tournament, but Brazil has improved markedly, Turkey didnt have a chance. They only created ONE real opportunity in the whole match, that was the only time i think their striker (and captain, Sukur) managed to touch the ball inside the Brazil penalty area.

    Looks matter !!!

quote:This is exemplified in Accelerated's behavior in which he walks in a party and "judges" the women there, as if they were objects for him to judge and choose the "best." Thats correct, I only have time to proply go out once a week. Now I dont wont to spend this time chatting to some boring ugly, I will try my luck with whomever I suspect I will have a good time with (physically and/or mentally ). So please dont feed me this 'moral' BS. quote:Yah but the point I am trying to make is that "brain" is useless if nothing comes out!Well, unless your mean that literally (LOL, been watching too much Saving Private Ryan), I dont understand how the "brain" coming out has any effect on ones looks from a distance.
  24. Accelerated

    Looks matter !!!

I disagree, because not on one ocassion have I seen the most beautiful girl, but after having a conversation with her (5 minutes is sufficient to tell ones personality), I could not be attracted to her no matter how good she looked. LOL. I remember one occasion in particular, at a party about 6 months ago. I started a conversation with a Lebanese chick (she was the best one at the party). She turned out to be SO STUPID (you would never say this from her looks) that its not funny. Me and my friend were poking fun at her all night (she got it eventually). She didnt know the meaning of IQ! And LOL during the conversation i said somethin like. "We (Armenians) were blond with blue eyes then the Turks came and raped all the women (hence our midle eastern looks)" She was SHOCKED! LOL. And took what I said literally. Oh my, had we fun that night..... Of course there are cases when what you have said is true, but generally I think its a mix of both.
  25. quote:I think you would do a great service to yourself if you just get out of your mutated state of mind.Point taken.
