Anahid jan thank you . Guys I do understand that over the internet there will always be misunderstandings and of course disagreements which is natural. Non verbal communication is always vital to understand better and the lack of it will cause misapprehension Anushik jan you mentioned about the answering of comments, I don’t expect everyone to agree/disagree with me and to post a comment back. In fact if someone doesn’t post any comment then I could not complain about aggression. It’s just the way certain members approach. “””Don't talk out of your ass please”” is an example (posted by HyeFedayis) of the wickedness I feel, especially when I have not posted anything rude nor annoying to anyone. I respect everyone but I respect Armenians even more. It’s loathsome to see Armenians being rude one to another. I believe we all have some degree of rudeness within us, but I personally try not to be impolite unless someone starts cursing/insulting me first.

I have grown up out of Armenia and have never had Armenian friends ever since I left Armenia. My parents have always inserted inside me everything that is part of being an Armenian. However, it was never enough, I had my way of thinking, I used to think that you marry the one you love not someone because of the nationality. As I grew older I became more conscious, thanks to my fiance I understood that for me there would always have been cultural barriers had I not chosen an Armenian. As Armenians we have a lot to be proud of. I think in the feature it will be lovely to hear my children speaking Armenian, feeling the privilege of being Armenian. Definitely Anahid jan, unlike the Kurds, Assyrians, Gypsies, Yezidies, etc we have a fatherland and in order to survive as you said we have to chose Armenians. End of the day, I honestly don’t think that any other men can be as good as Armenian men.

Nop, I have just missed out the word BUT after feeling.

I have opened this thread because I see lots of aggression in this forum. Perhaps only against me but the fact remains that ever since I have joined this forum 3/4 people have been rather aggressive and defensive towards me. (no matter who they are) What does it take to be kind and post in a more civilized manner in stead of being bellicose???

Is it really?

I'd love to know what you will be up to after 10 -15 years. As I have said previously, I seriously don't blame you, you haven't grown up together with the sister brother love and relationship and you could fall in love with anybody including your cousin. However, I wonder what will be things like after 10-15 years. Getting married at 21 is far too early especially for a lad.

I personally could never marry a non Armenian as there are many cultural differences and in many cases things end up really bad. We are not many 10 million or so? I think in order to save our nation and to be called Armenian we have to marry our own people. I'd be disgusted if my kids didn't have an Armenian surname. That is holly for me and to me nothing can be more beautiful than being Armenian. Love is an uncontrollable feeling, it would be nicer if our people chose Armenians. Otherwise we are losing our culture, language, etc.

Yeah plenty, Armenians are very very united both in Buenos Aires and Cordoba but mainly in Buenos Aires. The community is very big and keeps people together. Many Armenian schools and churches organize parties, almost every week there is something going on in BS AS P.S. I only mentioned about Argentina as I’m not very familiar with the other ones.

are you mental or something alike?

I cannot find the book, tried requesting it in the central library of the town where I live but I was unable to get it. You reminded me I'll try to get it and hopefully we can discuss it. I have read SNOW BY ORHAN PAMUK though, have you? Has anyone else? what do you think?

No wonder why house prices keep rising.

This is most definitely the very last post to you in this topic, therefore allow me to laugh my head off since I was convinced you were a girl. We all have a lot to learn, but certainly not from you. You, first and most importantly learn to respect, but until that learn to respect yourself in order to respect others. IN CONCLUSION, How about you learning some good English?? P.S. ETO PRAVDA CHTO NEKOTORIY ARMYANE IS ASMENII NEMNOGO NEUKLUJIYE, NO PO STRAVNENIU LIVANCAMI IMMEUT KULTURU OBSHANTSYA S NEZNAKOMKAMI!!!

Sure but I think once a person gets into the habit of reading and develops its skills, he/she will then pass on to read good books, though the most stupid book can teach one, even if it's not a great thing.

Dear, Darling Arpa--- Were you born in April, Taurus??? Do you often find it difficult to find the type of clothing you are looking for? And do you often buy items and bring them home and regret and take them back??? It’s astonishing to see that 99. 99 % of your posts are edited and not because of the simple reason of having made a mistake and written th in stead of the. You simply change the whole of the post transforming it into a totally different comment. You are asking me if I know Armenian and you point out that piper originates from Arabic. What does Armenian have to do when you are talking about Arabic and all your posts are written in English? The word "pepper" is derived from the Sanskrit pippali, the word for long pepper via the Latin piper which was used by the Romans to refer both to pepper and long pepper. In Latin, pepper was called piper, still today the botanical genus name. It was introduced by the Indians, and pepper was known in Greece as early as in the 4th century. Passing swiftly to Armenian Language, I ‘d never claim to be Armenologist, in fact its you the one who is the master linguist, I bet your teacher was George Gordon Byron. If the word Basturma is derived from turkish, it doesn’t mean that when translated into Armenian, apukht, as you claim, is the Armenian version. It would rather be sekhmats/tsetsats/trorats mis or something alike. I’m not very familiar with any of the masters you have named, I’m more of a Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Jorge Luis Borges reader, but being born in Armenia allows me to say that if Tumanyan had to mention basturma in his “masterpiece” it would most certainly be basturma as Tumanyan uses joghovrdakan hayeren. There should and must be a clear line between eastern Armenian and Western Armenian as they are very different. Grapar hayeren, the Armenian used in the churches today is perhaps the most correct Armenian but we don’t speak it. Let us not forget that Armenian has absorbed words from Persian, owing to Parthian domination in the centuries immediately before and after Jesus, from Greek and Syriac as a result of Christian influence, from French during the Crusades, and from Turkish in the course of several centuries of Turkish rule.

I'm not trying to convince you, you read because you want to when you are out of school while at school you read because you have no other choice, unless you want to be humiliated and insulted in front of the whole class and you want your mum to be embarrassed in the parents meeting when the teacher starts talking about each pupil in front of all the parents. I personally read because I wanted to but many had to read as they had no other option.
-
We all have different ideas and ways of explaining and unless there is a real source where we can find the story of basturma it will be unknown to all of us.

I do agree that education beyond school is important but school education is just as important. Well at least Armenian schools. In every summer holiday we had to read from 25 to 40 books and this was from the age of 10-11. It obviously varies from school to school but the average was 25 books per summer holiday.

Piper is such an Armenian word wow we are in fact discovering a new language
-
Is that a question or a joke? Unlike in US Armenian students are multi -developed and Unlike in US in Armenia irrelevant subjects are compulsory which makes Armenians much knowledgeable than the Americans and not only Americans. Yes just like everywhere else there are people in Armenia that have very limited knowledge but education system is far too high in Armenia.

Thanx for the tale hope 1 out of 3 basturmas will be for me, now what was basturma called before the turks invented the name? Anhargvats chem zgum, sxal haskatsumner bolori mot el linume, unlike you some jump to conclusions very quickly showing the rest the degree of their insaneness. I do acknowledge that the word is turkish as bastirma et in turkish means pressed meat, but apkhtats mis is not the Armenian name for Basturma. It may be in Western Armenian but surely not in Eastern Armenian as Apkhtats mis could well be basturma or any other uncooked meat.

So coming back to the topic, where is the best place for us to live?? I guess Armenia. Truly speaking our people are bright.
