  2. ‎#Syria #News #freedom #Revolution Syrian Truth l Press TV l Iraq militia group warns to target Turkish interests Dec 27,2012 An Iraqi militia group threatens to target Turkish interests in response to, what it has denounced as, Turkey’s “blatant interference” in Iraq’s internal affairs. “We refute and denounce the recent comments of the Turkish Prime Minister [Recep Tayyip Erdogan] and consider them a blatant interference in the internal affairs of Iraq,”' Asaib al-Haq said in a statement on Thursday. Earlier this week, Erdogan accused the Iraqi government of sectarian behavior, warning that Iraq may meet the same fate as Syria. “Any attempt to rip apart [iraq's national fabric] by playing on sectarianism and spreading the poison of division damages the interests of all, and whoever does this will not be safe from harm,” the militia group said. The two countries’ relations turned sour last year after Turkey expressed support for fugitive Iraqi Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi and gave him refuge. Hashemi has been sentenced to death in Iraq over involvement in terrorist activities. Furthermore, Turkish airstrikes in northern Iraq on Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) bases have angered Iraqi authorities, prompting them to call on Turkish officials to stop attacking the PKK on Iraqi soil. The PKK has been fighting for an autonomous Kurdish region inside Turkey since the 1980s. The conflict has left tens of thousands of people dead. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/12/27/280464/iraq-militia-group-warns-turkey/

  4. ‎#Syria #News #freedom #Revolution Syrian Truth l RT l Yule be sorry: Saudi police foil attempt to celebrate Christmas The religious police in Saudi Arabia have raided a house in the Al Jawf Province and arrested 41 people, who were “plotting to celebrate Christmas,” a police statement said. The police said that the detainees were Christian guests of an Asian diplomat, reports the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar. There were also a Saudi Arabian and an Egyptian, both Muslims, present at the gathering. The police account says the host and the two Muslim guests were “severely intoxicated.” It is unclear whether or not the people detained in the Wednesday night raid were released or face further prosecution. Saudi Arabia outlaws any religious practice except those in line with a strict version of Sunni Islam, the state religion in the theocratic monarchy. The authorities usually turn a blind eye to private ceremonies, but this policy is neither set in law nor observed at all times. The “virtue and vice” police, which enforce religious norms in the country, regularly launch crackdowns on Christians and Hindus living in Saudi Arabia. The attitude is encouraged by religious leaders, who justify the persecutions. Saudi Arabia's head mufti Sheikh Abdel Aziz bin Abdullah had previously condemned “invitations to Christmas or wedding celebrations,” the newspaper says. http://rt.com/news/saudi-christmas-plot-crackdown-975/

  6. Syrian Truth l Live Leak l Aleppo Residents are Resisting the Hardships Brought by FSA Terrorism This report from Aleppo, Syria, shows what the residents there are going through from hardships after the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) terrorists brought destruction and homelessness to much of Aleppo. FSA terrorists also cut off roads leading to the city center in an effort to prevent any governmental aid and supplies from arriving to the residents who did not welcome them. Most residents seemed to agree that the most urgent needs are electric power, water, and bread, which are the most basic necessities for livelihood. What these Syrian citizens are also united on is that the FSA is not welcome in their city and that the Syrian Army is what ensures their city's security. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=1e3_1356471421
  7. Syrian Truth l FSA Sectarian Terrorists Expel Christians from their Town in the Hauran Region of Syria This video issued by the Omari Battalion of the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) shows the leader of the brigade of Mahmoud Odeil al-Hariri within the Omari Battalion issuing a statement yesterday, December 20, 2012, asking all Christian residents of the town of Mismiya (?) in the Hauran (Houran) region in southern Syria to leave their town. This is not the first such incident. In Homs, for example, the FSA forced hundreds of thousands of Christians and other religious minorities to leave their towns, towns that their ancestors have lived in for hundreds and sometimes thousands of years. This sectarian discriminatory practice by the bigoted and intolerant Wahhabi Salafi FSA is not surprising really as it reflects the rhetoric that these people have employed from the very beginnings of their "peaceful protests", rhetoric that includes phrases such as: "al-Alawiyyeh aal Tabout w al-Masihiyyeh aala Bayrout" (Alawites to the grave, Christians to Beirut) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DZB2P0eox
  8. #Syria #News #freedom #Revolution Syrian Truth l Press TV l Syrian militants threaten to attack Hama Christians Dec 22,2012 Militants fighting against the Syrian government have warned two predominantly Christian towns in the central region of Hama, saying they will be attacked if they do not “evict” military forces. The Saturday warning came in a video titled "Warning mainly to Christian cities in the province of Hama," which was release by the Militant’s London-based mouthpiece, the so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The footage showed seven rebel fighters armed with Kalashnikovs, issuing an ultimatum to the towns of Mahrada and Sqailbiyeh in Hama. There are some 1.8 million Christians in Syria, making up about 10 percent of the country's population. On Friday, a large number of people held a demonstration against militants in the Syrian city of Aleppo, chanting slogans against the armed groups and their foreign backers and accusing them of destabilizing the country. Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the turmoil. The Syrian government has repeatedly said that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, and that a very large number of the militants operating in the country are foreign nationals. A recent UN report has revealed that militants from 29 countries have so far filtered into Syria to fight against the government of President Bashar al-Assad, most of whom are extremist Salafists. Several international human rights organizations have accused the foreign-sponsored insurgents of committing war crimes. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/12/22/279524/syrian-militants-warn-christians-in-hama/
  9. #Syria #News #freedom #Revolution Syrian Truth l Al-Manar TV | Lavrov: Assad Unlikely to Step down, Patriot Directed at Iran Dec 22, 2012 Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Syrian resident Bashar al-Assad would not step down, adding that the deployment of Patriot missiles in Turkey directed at Iran. According to Interfax and Reuters, Lavrov said that "neither side is going to win" the war in Syria, adding that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad would not step down even if pressured to do so by Moscow and Beijing. He said that Moscow has rejected pleas from several unspecified countries to offer Assad asylum if he leaves Syria. The Russian FM made the comments late on December 21 on his plane while returning from an EU-Russia summit in Brussels. He also told reporters that the "Western sponsors" of the Syrian opposition are losing control over it. In a separate interview with Russia Today, Lavrov commented on why NATO was so eager to deploy Patriot missiles on Turkey's border with Syria – and which country was the actual target. While many analysts say the Patriot system's deployment in Turkey suggests that it could be targeted at Iran, Lavrov confirmed that “the configuration as it is being presented in the media really looks like it could be used against Iran.” The Russian FM said he believed that West governments, which tend to pursue immediate intervention, have missed many opportunities to actually help end the conflict in Syria. This is as Russia made several bids to find a peaceful solution for the violence, but was undermined by those unwilling to respect the agreements. “Some of the regional players were suggesting to us: ‘Why don't you tell President Assad to leave? We will arrange for some safe haven for him,’” Lavrov told RT, adding that if indeed those who suggested this had this in mind, they should have taken it directly to Assad. “Why shall they use us as a postman? If President Assad is interested – this must be discussed directly with him,” he stressed. http://www.almanar.com.lb/english/adetails.php?eid=77946&cid=22&fromval=1&frid=22&seccatid=45&s1=1
  10. #Syria #News #freedom #Revolution Syrian Truth l Tunisian Ex Jihadist Tells Tunisian TV Why he Stopped Fighting Alongside the FSA in Syria This mini-report from Tunisian TV station, Delta TV, shows an interview with a 29-year old Tunisian man who traveled to Syria and fought alongside the "Free Syrian Army" (FSA) against the Syrian Army. He explains why he stayed there for slightly over a month and decided to return back to his home country instead of remaining there for Jihad, as is the case with other young Tunisians who were sent to Syria mainly by their imams (clerics). The interview corroborates some of other eyewitness accounts that accuse the FSA of committing massacres in order to frame the Syrian Army. He also states that no medical treatment was given to any foreign (Arab) Jihadist, which meant that any injury could end up in death. He also acknowledges that these Jihadis are being used as cannon fodder to fight a war by proxy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7GHrJdZY3I
  11. #Syria #News #freedom #Revolution Syrian Truth l Press TV |Russia says West is losing influence on Syria opposition Dec 23,2012 Russia says the West has failed to achieve enough control on Syria’s newly formed opposition coalition, warning against the repetition of the military intervention in Libya. "I think that the Western sponsors of this coalition are already losing their influence on it," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov told reporters in Moscow on Saturday. The Syrian National Coalition for Revolutionary and Opposition Forces was introduced in November and was soon recognized by Western and Arab governments as well as Turkey as the sole representative of the Syrian people. Lavrov said he believed the West did not really desire to intervene in the Syrian conflict and that they were even “praying for Russia and China to continue blocking permission for external intervention” in the Arab nation. “Because if there is such a decision, they will have to act, and no one is ready to act," he stated. Lavrov reiterated Moscow’s opposition against any foreign intervention in Syria, recalling UN Security Council resolutions that NATO used as a pretext to launch a military action on Libya in 2011. "We are convinced that the UN Security Council must not take any more ambiguous decisions, after our partners behaved so abominably over the resolution on Libya," he urged. The West has been critical of Russia and China for using their veto power at the Security Council to block three sanction resolutions aimed at tightening the noose around the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. On Friday, Lavrov denounced Western countries for supporting the militants fighting government forces in Syria. "Our Western colleagues have started dividing terrorists into 'bad' and 'acceptable.' That is very dangerous," he said. Syria has experienced a deadly unrest that erupted in March 2011. Many people, including large numbers of army and security personnel, have been killed in the violence. Damascus says that the chaos is being orchestrated from outside the country, while numerous reports indicate that a very large number of anti-government militants operating in Syria are foreign nationals. http://www.presstv.ir/detail/2012/12/23/279624/west-losing-influence-in-syria-russia/
  12. Syrian Truth l Press TV l Syria air defense no nonsense: Russian commander Dec 23,2012 The air defense system of Syria is capable of repelling potential massive airstrikes against the country, a senior Russian commander says. “Syria’s air defense system is a no-nonsense force. As a result, no one has ever used serious air combat power against it,” said Russia’s Ground Forces Air Defense commander Major General Alexander Leonov in a Saturday radio interview. Leonov also stated that the militants in Syria have focused on the Syrian air defense system as a prime target. On Thursday, Syria’s opposition coalition condemned Russia’s support for the government of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. Spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Hong Lei, stressed in statements on Friday the necessity to push forward for launching a political transitional process led by the Syrian people as soon as possible in order to reach an appropriate just and peaceful solution to the situation in Syria. "The international community should play a positive and constructive role to help the parties concerned achieve this goal," Hong was quoted as saying by the Chinese Xinhua news agency. He expressed his country's readiness to communicate with all the parties in Syria, noting that Beijing follows the reports coming from Syria and still considers that Syria's future and destiny should be determined by the Syrian people. 20. Al-Jaafari : Solving Crisis in Syria Couldn't Be Achieved Through Funding and Harboring Armed Terrorists Dec 14, 2012 NEW YORK, SANA_ Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN, Bashar al-Jaafari, reiterated Syria's readiness to cooperate with international organizations working in Syria starting off its commitment to the UN General Assembly resolutions on strengthening the coordination of humanitarian emergency assistance of the United Nations and those stress the necessity of respecting a state's sovereignty, regional safety and national unity and not interfering in its internal affairs. Al-Jaafari was speaking at the UN General Assembly's open session to discuss the agenda item 70 (a) on strengthening the coordination of humanitarian and disaster relief assistance of the United Nations, including special economic assistance. He stressed Syria's deep belief in the importance of coordinating humanitarian efforts to convey humanitarian aid to the affected citizens in urgent circumstances in terms of the UN General Assembly resolution no 46/182 which outlines a framework for humanitarian assistance and a set of guiding principles for the work of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA). He added that the Syrian government, throughout the current crisis, spared no efforts to provide urgent aid to its citizens and formed a committee to follow up on the humanitarian situation of the affected citizens whether to provide food and health aid, compensate for the damage caused by the armed terrorist groups' acts or to rehabilitate the infrastructure to resume providing social and healthcare services. Al-Jaafari added that a higher committee for relief was formed in order to coordinate efforts exerted to help the affected people and 547 temporary makeshift shelters were opened as a result of the Syrian government's hard work under these difficult circumstances. He pointed out that the Syrian government cooperated with the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs ( OCHA ), the Office of the Higher Commissioner for Refugees and the International Committee of Red Cross and provided all necessary facilitations to convey humanitarian aid to those who need them all over the Syrian territories. He added that the revised Syria Humanitarian Response Plan was implemented and the Syrian government granted licenses to more than 80 non-governmental organizations to contribute to the implementation of the response plan. Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN stressed that the Syrian government will provide all facilitations to humanitarian workers and grant licenses to the OCHA for field visits to several areas in Syria without any delay. He indicated that Syria had a constructive participation in 6 meetings of the Humanitarian Forum held in Geneva and tackled the situation in Syria. Al-Jaafari pointed out that the government's humanitarian efforts were hindered by several obstacles as the countries which are known for their support to the armed terrorism in Syria continued funding, arming and protecting armed terrorist groups in Syria.
