  1. Robert Fisk is one of the greatest journalists of our time! whoever is interested in the history of the Middle East and the origins of all the problems that we have until now, should read his latest book 'The Great War of Civilizations'! pavagan metz e but it's worth the trouble! if someone gets the transcript of his speech in AUA pls post it!
  2. DeLaLa i know that the recognition of the armenian genocide by the US and the international community as a whole (when it happens), will bring great misfortunes to the armenians who r living in turkey! that is something that the armenians of turkey know and despite that they still continue to live there! that is their choice, we respect it, we admire their bravery for staying there but that does not mean that the rest of the diaspora (which was created by the armenians who were forced to leave turkey and were lucky enough to survive) will not continue to struggle for truth and justice!
  3. read the first post of the topic!
  4. yeghpair hasg@tsa te inch gouzes @sel, yev kou @satzit hagarg chem! the only difference is that i do not think that mutafian has the right to talk against the recognition of the armenian genocide by third countries! if he is not for it, he should keep quiet rather than criticize it!
  5. and the article 301 of the turkish constitution is the answer to which part of my post?
  6. first of all i have to say that i understand that the role of mutafian is not an easy one! he has to consider the well being of the armenian population of turkey and that is why he has to be careful of what statements he makes when he is in public! now coming to ur first question, my personal opinion is that when it comes to the matter of the recognition of the armenian genocide from other countries, if he can not say anything that will be in favor of that (because he might get into trouble) he can at least keep quiet! i don't think that anyone in turkey will blame him for keeping quiet! as for ur second question we know that in turkey the main political parties are AKP and CHP and according to the last polls MHP will also enter the parliament, something that is bad not only for the armenians but for all the minorities (it's not like the other two parties like the armenians. they hate us the same but the MHP public states that)! anor hamar yerp g@ hachenk it means that we know a couple of things!
  7. A new site about armenian classifieds is launched! The address is www.hyeclassifieds.com You can start posting your adverts for job-wants, buy/sell, community announcements/events, personals, travel, business, services, and much more. It's the new global Armenian connectivity platform via your personal and business ads.
  8. Shahan there is a Greek saying that if i translate it correctly goes like "having no knowledge of something is much better than having a shallow knowledge about it" and i think that applies on the thing that u said on a previous post about ramgavars being on the communist side! During the Cold War period when Armenia was a SSR (Soviet Socialist Republic) the Armenian political parties had a dilemma! Stand alongside Armenia SSR or stand against it! The hnchags who were true socialists were for the Armenia SSR. The tashnags (who by the way are also socialists of some kind) took an opportunity provided to them by the CIA and took a stance against Armenia SSR! The position of the ramgavars was that although we do not agree with the political system of Armenia SSR, under no circumstances we will go against our country and our brothers and sisters! no matter what u think of the ramgavars, no matter what their current state is, they took a patriotic decision (and a correct one) and payed the price for that! The ramgavars refused to collaborate against Armenia SSR (not because it had a communist government but because Armenia was our home! they supported Armenia despite it's government! that my friend is patriotism and not some kind of cheap demagoguery that the tashnags used at the time against Armenia and against those who refused to speak ill about it) and they were hunted down for that! they were labeled as communists, they were labeled as tavajans and a lot more! Shahan i don't think that anyone is saying that nowadays tashnags r doing the wrong things or they r working against Armenia! tashnags with their organizations are fighting and doing a very good job for the promotion and recognition of the genocide! but that doesn't mean that u shouldn't know what was done in the past! I'm one of those who believe that if u don't know ur past there is a very good chance for u to repeat it! By the way shouldn't we move this discussion to the politics section coz i don't think that RemainFaithful shad bidi timana yete asank sharounagenk!
  9. what happened next has been discussed in a topic in this forum but i don't remember in which one! Echmiadzin accepted the Catholicos of Cilicia Karekin I (after pressure from the then president Der Bedrosian) as a leader of the Church hoping that he well help in bridging the gap between the 2 Catholicosates! of course Karekin I did the exact opposite thing! Throughout the diaspora the tashnags have tried to take control of as many churches as they can! and i'm afraid that that will not change in the future simply because the tashnags don't think that they r doing anything wrong! they believe that in order for their party to survive and grow every measure is acceptable and should be taken! But the problem is not only the tashnags! They r taking over because in many cases there is nobody there to challenge them! Let me give u an example of what happened here in Greece @nger Sako! decades ago the tashnags took over the church from the echmiatznagans! they used force, they had the government's support because they labeled the ramgavars as communists (whenever i hear this i want to laugh! an extreme-left party accuses a center-right part of being communists) and to cut long things short they took over! whenever u talk with an older ramgavar or an echmiatznagan they complain that the tashnags used to beat them up and throw them out of the church! after hearing all these stories and getting tired from listening to them, one day i asked why they didn't hit back! i got no answer! u see sako tashnags took the churches because they simply could! nobody went against them! they were too afraid! that's why we can not only blame the tashnags! we know what they want to do and what they r capable of doing so we have 2 options either let them do it and shut up or take a stance against them and try to make them understand that what they r doing is not in the best interest of the armenian nation!
  10. It will not be safe in Iraq for a couple of decades! so they will either get used to life as it is (as they r doing now) or as some ppl suggest go to Armenia and start over (something which is not as easy as it sounds)
