  1. I agree, That was what my sisters suffered when they moved to US.Maybe the reason is the Patriarchate's official declarations about the genocide issue.

    Us v. them

Oz, Another false example turks always give is 'Armenians are sooooooooo comfortabe here'.Why do you insist of giving the wealthy Armenians in Istanbul example?Last year i've read on a Turkish newspaper 'Radikal' that only ''''''''''1''''''''' Armenian's left in Diyarbakýr -Digranagert-.What's happening to those in eastern Anatolia?
  3. Why is the genocide's under the politics topic in this forum...I think it should be better under the history topic. [ April 22, 2001: Message edited by: levonyeshilian ]

  5. Dear Berj, Accept being Othodox, what of us is related to Europeans? Our music, tradition, family values, food, which part of our culture?

    Us v. them

As you see Oz has a good English, this shows he went to a good turkish university or whatsoever and must have below much more education from an ordinary turk.I personally always try to seperate good from bad, doesn't matter if he's a turk............................................................................ .................. But Oz, Please tell us what does Armenia is agressive means?,is 70 million populated turkey afraid of 2 millions populated Armenia?Or do you think there will be a crusade over turkey by the western Christian forces? Please try to see and accept your faults. All those Armenians over the world didn't leave their homes and homeland with business-class plain tickets to have red-fast cars and a house with a pool in early 1900's.You always say Armenians are free for anything in turkey but I don't even have my Armenian name on my ID.You'll ask why?Don't you remember what Bozkurts did before 1980?or in 1960?or the 'tax of wealth'for Christians in 1940s???Another fault of you is to forget what you did yesterday and to call it history as if it happened thousands of years ago.
  7. I don't think it should be left to historians but i think more than our policy,it's a part of our history. Are we closer to amateur historians or politicians?
  8. There are two kinds of people in any nation over the world...Speaking about the Turks one is stupid as stone believing what they learned at school and those so called politicians and following them blindly. And the other part questioning their past, feeling guilty for their ancestors, but can't change the beliefs of the many..... It's too sad many of the Turks believe what they were told in school. As you read the discussions with them they only say Armenians killed Turks too but they can't even say a single book name prooving this. These are the Turks i don't even say a single 'Good Morning'. But there are perfect Turks I love them as brothers. Please don't hate a single word 'the Turk'.But those denying us just for political reasons. All of us are human,if we do feel hatred for any, what would make us different from a brainwashed man?
  9. Dear Ara, As far as I know you've written a book about Muslim Armenians in Turkey(Hemshinlis). Would you please inform us(at least me) about this subject? Also i've heard Dersimli's were Kurdified Armenians,is it true? Thanks by now.
  10. Dear MJ, I was always thinking by myself, many of the Armenians still have Turkish-derived surnames even the 'Zildjian(zildji means cymbalmaker((zil means cymbal)))....as yeshil in my name means green....... This seems a little ironic.....but what shall we do? [ April 14, 2001: Message edited by: levonyeshilian ]
  11. We're not Chinese people counting over a billion people....If this generation changes their name the next one will forget the language, the other the culture...When will this end? Armenian people always complain about assimilations but they are doing the worst that can be done....
  12. Art, I don't think life has a meaning, but it is LIFE. Nothing in this world would be different if any of us were not born, there'd be someone else doing all the things we'd do...But we live,we have a life,so we must save it...From the one celled bacterias to human the basic instinct of all living organisms is to protect himself and being far away from what may harm him....But this is not all for a human because we have a brain too and it's not easy to protect it.Many of us has a job he doesn't like, shares the environment with people he doesn't like, lives in a place he hates but he can't etc.. So what we shall do????? I've tried to kill myself once and what i do when i'm down is to think'once i had beautiful days and i'll have again somewhere, sometime'. Life is not something meaningful as the books of Kafka ot Frankl but it's nice sometimes...

  15. Reading this declaration's like a novel of romance that noone believes he's gonna face in his whole life.........Why didn't they copy the book 'Utopia of Thomas More' instead of their peaceful wishes?
  16. It really is...... Slayer's one of my all time favourites cause i like both the elder and new slayer...(not like metallica or megadeth).Nowadays i listen 'PJ Harvey',she gives me peace. But i like Misfits more than Sex Pistols.... B.T.W. Postmortem(Reign in blood kickass),i do enjoy playing on guitar....... [ March 28, 2001: Message edited by: levonyeshilian ]
  17. I can't understand vegaterians....I'm a complete carnivor and proud ..... Any of you???
  18. Besides Armenian music, what kind of bands and music do you like to listen? let me start: System of a Down,Alice in Chains,Slayer,Pearl Jam and all kinda rock'n rolll [ March 27, 2001: Message edited by: levonyeshilian ]
  19. Mike, One day you must come Diyarbekir and test all those made by their chefs...... P.S.By the way i'm so impressed you're eating the same food after a hundred years.
  20. I think both basturma and dolma's name come from turkish. Basturma is pastýrma(originally derived from the turkish word 'bastýrma' that means to press').As far as i know it was a well known dried and spiced meat eaten by the Mongolian or Turkish horsemen that they were keeping under their saddles as they were riding. The dolma is derived from the word doldurma(to fill).
