I agree on this with Boghos. I also find the Armenian church service to be extremely boring. Plain sleeper! No wander you hardly see any young people in the Armenian churches this days. I am secretly Jealous about the black Baptist churches. How joyous it is and how expressive it is. Too bad we don’t even have anything remotely close. I can’t stand the lamenting crying style of our church music. Like Arpa it just pisses me up. It wants to make every Armenian feel victimized and that just infuriates me. We should have thunderous joyous music at churches. Hopeful sermons, programs for kids, in short active, progressive institutions instead of decaying caricature of what the Armenian church could be.

Your comment reminds of a bad joke when you have to think about it after hearing it.If you can not figure it out what the movie is about in 5 min then what is the point? To make Art for Art sake’s film? Please…I have seen enough vagueness about the AG that someone must someday present it clearly. When Artists try to make too much of their own kitsch then they loose the scope of the subject. If you think your average viewer is going to “think” about the vagueness and spend the next day at the library trying to find anything on AG you are mistaken. Most people cannot even remember what they had for breakfast let alone trying to dissect vague film. The question begs is what is the target audience. If intended for intellectuals, artists then go ahead make it as vague and artsy as possible but if you are trying to reach a wider audience then clarity and emotional impact is the way to go.

Boghos Racism was institutionalized until civil rights movement so blacks cannot be compared with other ethnic groups. “Illegal” immigrants are actually called migrant workers and US agricultural companies knowingly allow them to come and work for two three dollars hour. Those workers are entitled to certain benefits. Since you did mention immigrants and not “illegal” then my argument is more then valid since most of us began our lives here as immigrants. In the eighties I am not ashamed that we did receive welfare benefits for six mouths, which allowed enough time to readjust our lives in the US. My father soon started to work, and the rest is history. The reason that I am uncomfortable with your Argument was how general and black and white you placed your examples. I actually feel sympathetic to tree hugging liberals who do want to protect and raise the issue of saving old growth forests and lobby against clear cutting techniques often used by logging companies. Do I advocate bombing those companies out? Hell no! What I am trying to express and at times not so eloquently that often in life things are grayer with different shades then black and white. I can easily recognize that car safety issues ( seat belts, air bags), building codes, privation of dumping wastes in rivers and lakes, gun control- were mostly achieved by special groups that hinder growth or hinder natural instinct as you phrased it. My examples are only to illustrate that under your definition of Populism lays multiple issues, which cannot be approached in swiping manner.

Pretty courageous undertaking, kudos to you. I like the child’s perspective very much. People have more sympathy towards kids furthermore it highlights the disposition, loneliness and the agony. What Thoth is suggesting might be appropriate for a longer film however with little time in your disposal the best you can do is to highlight the agony of the experience as much as you can. Few suggestions: Showing perpetrator or perpetrators faces or a face will bring what we universally call evil lot more real. It is the human desire that we associate “bad” guys from “good” Since the purpose is the Armenian Genocide I would also make it very clear without a shadow that those perpetrators were Turks and the victims Armenians. You could show minarets verses Armenian kids singing in a chore for instance and close up shot of something inside the church written in Armenian letters. There should be no vagueness. I like your project and good luck.

Boghos On the other extreme spectrum we have almost pure Darwinistic “natural laws of competition” in Armenia and because of lack of respect for laws or none existing laws we got an environment which breeds corruption and counter growth and investments. Most businesses establish in the environment where stability and respect for laws are present. This I am sure may not come as a shock to you that everything we do is self interest motivated even Sasun’s idea of Mother Theresa including. Politicians are necessary. In the ideal world utopian society we may not them however the examples you mention such as affirmative action can be easily changed if enough people don’t want them. That is democracy! I hope my comments are not to be taken personally.

Just wanted to add that if you were a Black American male lawyer trying to catch a cab in New York City and ignored repeatedly because of your color skin then it is not a right wing or left wing intellectual mambo jumbo but plain racism and that is not acceptable in this day and age. For thousands of people racism, discrimination is beyond politics but intricate part of the fabric in this society and lot of well meaning people (mostly liberals) try hard to change that hence by default becomes political. Obviously in democracy the only way to change the reality is through politics…

Boghos It is obvious that you know very little about the reality of US. The immigrants that pick strawberries and vegetables for slave wages need rights! Such as medical benefits among many others. These people are the reason that American produce is considerably cheaper then other developed countries. Most Americans rip the benefits of inexpensive produce but are reluctant to respect and appreciate the workers who labored it. Affirmative action is justifiable considering black slaves practically build this country on their backs in cotton and sugar fields. Lets not forget that discrimination was totally real until civil rights movement and still present. I am neither a liberal nor a conservative however your characterization of this issue is misguided.

can I eat watermelons with your secretery?I promise I will be my most boring self respectful of the SBLSoA rules. Ask her if she likes a sensitive, endlessly talkative, hairy, big nose, bold guy.I am sure I got her juice bar flowing!

That’s it I had it! Edo jan brni inzi! What is wrong with natural looks!! There is something about the person’s character the way they are. Imagine Barbara S. without her nose. I feel repulsed when beauty has to be manipulated, breasts have to be tempered with; faces have to be pulled back! (Joan Rivers is a nightmare). I am a painter and I paint nude figures often and without exaggeration I find beauty on every type of people furthermore more distinctive the features the more I am interested in that person. Woman with strong lips, dark prominent eyebrows and noses attract me a lot. Nothing turns me off then boring generic Anglo Saxon features…

What is wrong with watermelons! I love them ! in fact I like to eat watermelons often cold , opps sorry guys I am off topic!

Taron, Please do share Shahan Natalie's ideas!!!!!!!

Raja what planet are you from! Most real women have hair and that is the beauty of it. Would you like to see your women pay thousands to remove all the hair(you know where) just to please you! Maybe you have been watching to many porn movies where it is required…camera full view. How would you feel if your woman tells you Raja yaks! Go shave all your hair. Would you do it?

Hagarag I generally agree with you that any segment of humanity in support of our cause is just fine by me. Unity is important on this issue however where I obviously disagree how you automatically attach, link sociology of lifestyles to AG, which I find it, distasteful as Stormy does as well. You will be surprised that lot of Armenians including myself are very tolerant of people with an alterative lifestyles however I won’t find it thrilling if bunch of lesbians and gays hugging each other in front of a Turkish consulates on April 24, with “I am a proud to be gay” t-shirts. I won’t comment further on this. I made it very clear.

Hmmm Who needs a sissy boring lover? Yahh I am an animalistic in bed and my wife worships me.Happy satisfied woman is all about, the rest is just a background props.Have you seen miserable couples who suffer from lack of desire?Plenty! and guess how long that marriage will lost. Please don't tell me you want your guy to gently touch you for hours like some kind of chinese vase.

TK Logic dictates that any statements that one strongly and passionately makes should and must reveal its source and hopefully that source is preferably from unbiased position. Having said that, could you reveal your source for statements like? “There was no assimilation of the Urarteans into the Hay people until the 1st century BC.” “I say virtually all Armenians are European with a tiny insignificant minority that are mixed with Caucasian (mountains) peoples and Semites/Turkics”
