    pray pray pray

God the Father: Wednesday, July 10th, 2013 My dearest daughter, wars will break out all over the Middle East and soon My beloved Israel will suffer a terrible abomination. Lives will be lost throughout this part of the world on a very large scale, as the spirit of evil devours the lives and in many cases the souls of My children. My children’s hatred for each other will spill out into other countries, as the Battle of Armageddon intensifies and grows, until it will engulf the world everywhere. The hatred, caused as a result of the infestation of Satan and his demons, will become a sign so visible that very few souls, irrespective of what belief they hold for Me, the Creator of all that is, will fail to feel the spirit of evil, which spreads like a deadly virus. Wars, many of them, including battles within governments of all nations, will erupt all at the same time. As My Hands have already descended in mild punishments, know that I will crush those who hurt My children. This is when the battle for souls will increase and it will spread in many ways. The lies you are being fed about your economy are designed to fool you and strip you of what you own. Pray, pray, pray that I will stop those who control your currencies from taking everything you own away from you. Know that while My Right Hand casts down chastisements against the wicked, My Left Hand will lift and take you under My Protection and I will provide for you. The changes foretold in My Holy Book are now presented to the world. Battles will rage, lives will be lost, lands will suffer ecological turmoil, crops will fail and many of you will be persecuted by your governments. The worst battle will be a spiritual one where every effort will be made to turn your against Me. Your Father God the Most High http://www.thewarningsecondcoming.com/god-the-father-the-lies-you-are-being-fed-about-your-economy-are-designed-to-fool-you/

    Humor as medicine

Yes, I watched the whole of it and it's very well made comedy. First I have to clarify that it is not in English, although it has some English and Turkish, but mostly it's in Eastern Armenian. It starts somewhere in Turkey where a Turkish fat peddler at the hotel is offering to a young American tourist (hero of film) hashish, drugs, girls & boys for sex and when he says "cheap" the American understands as the Turk saying "sheep" and he answers "no sheep" meaning he is not interested in bestiality either but the Turk insists that he is able to provide him even sheep in cheap price for sex. Then when our hero is doing paragliding the robs broke off and an airplane carries him and his para-glider all the way to Armenia and drops him from air into a rural Armenian village near the Turkish border. An old Armenian veteran of the Soviet army when he sees the American with the parachute (paraglider) takes him to be a Turkish spy and makes him prisoner. Nobody speaks English in the village (except the heroine of the film) and the "Turkish spy" does not speak Armenian. The plot goes on from the the son of the mayor of the village wanting to marry the heroine, Anne, while she falls in love with the "Turkish spy," that is the American hero of the film. And as is the custom in rural Armenia where in some few occasions, when love is rejected the son of the mayor kidnaps Anne to make her his wife forcibly but they fall in the trap of two real Turkish soldiers who just pass over the border or the brakes of the car fails and the car rolls over to the Turkish side of the border, whatever, but those two Turks are real mean and are about to rape beautiful Anne. This film is a good representation of the village life in Armenia but it is very much exaggerated to make you laugh and is far from reality and the real nature of its rural people.

    Egypt & Turkey Don't Mix

Cairo tells Turkey not to meddle in Egypt’s internal affairshttp://www.presstv.ir/detail/2013/07/16/314150/cairo-tells-turkey-not-to-meddle-in-egypt/ The new Egyptian government has warned Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government officials against meddling in the North African’s internal affairs. In an interview with Turkey’s English-language daily Today's Zaman on Sunday, Erdogan said that ousted leader Mohamed Morsi is the only legitimate president of Egypt. "Currently, my president in Egypt is Morsi because he was elected by the people," he stated. "If we don't judge the situation like that it is tantamount to ignoring the Egyptian people.” In separate statements, Turkish government officials recently denounced the Egyptian military's removal of Morsi, the country's first democratically elected leader, as an "unacceptable coup”. On Tuesday, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry expressed "strong resentment at comments like these, which… represent a clear intervention in internal Egyptian affairs," said Badr Abdelatty, the ministry spokesman. Later in the day, Egyptian presidential spokesman Ahmed Elmoslmany also issued a statement about the issue, saying, “I consider the (Turkish) statements inappropriate and I consider it interference in Egyptian internal affairs.” "I clearly say to Ankara, it should respect Egyptian sovereignty and the will of the Egyptian people. Egypt did not interfere in what happened in Taksim Square," Elmoslmany said, referring to anti-government protests in Istanbul last month. "Turkey has to understand it is speaking about a big country with a great history," he added.
  7. How the Early Original Apostles Died This is an eye opener, and a review on how those real martyrs died for their belief; why would Jesus let His Apostles die like that in place of giving them life in luxury and safety? In order to show that He spoke the TRUTH and He is Who He His like recorded in the New Testament; as His apostles would not die and put their life at risk if they were telling a LIE, they gladly died in order to emphasis that they were speaking the TRUTH and they were happy in their death as it was another testimony of TRUTH they spoke about and part of which is recorded in the New Testament. Only a very stupid person would die for a lie! Jesus said: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed!!!” (John 20:29) 1 – Matthew Suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, killed by a sword wound. 2 – Mark Died in Alexandria , Egypt , after being dragged by horses through the streets until he was dead. 3 – Luke Was hanged in Greece as a result of his tremendous preaching to the lost. 4 – John Faced martyrdom when he was boiled in huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome .. However, he was miraculously delivered from death. John was then sentenced to the mines on the prison island of Patmos. He wrote his prophetic Book of Revelation on Patmos . The apostle John was later freed and returned to serve as Bishop of Edessa in modern Turkey . He died as an old man, the only apostle to die peacefully. 5 – Peter He was crucified upside down on an x-shaped cross. According to church tradition it was because he told his tormentors that he felt unworthy to die in the same way that Jesus Christ had died. 6 – James Just The leader of the church in Jerusalem , was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a fuller’s club. * This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the Temptation. 7 – James the Great Son of Zebedee, was a fisherman by trade when Jesus called him to a lifetime of ministry. As a strong leader of the church, James was ultimately beheaded at Jerusalem . The Roman officer who guarded James watched amazed as James defended his faith at his trial. Later, the officer walked beside James to the place of execution. Overcome by conviction, he declared his new faith to the judge and knelt beside James to accept beheading as a Christian. 8 – Bartholomew Also known as Nathaniel Was a missionary to Asia . He witnessed for our Lord in present day Turkey . Bartholomew was martyred for his preaching in Armenia where he was flayed to death by a whip. 9 – Andrew Was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Patras , Greece . After being whipped severely by seven soldiers they tied his body to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. His followers reported that, when he was led toward the cross, Andrew saluted it in these words: ‘I have long desired and expected this happy hour. The cross has been consecrated by the body of Christ hanging on it.’ He continued to preach to his tormentors for two days until he expired. 10 – Thomas Was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church in the sub-continent. 11 – Jude Was killed with arrows when he refused to deny his faith in Christ.. 12 – Matthias The apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded. 13 – Paul Was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67. Paul endured a lengthy imprisonment, which allowed him to write his many epistles to the churches he had formed throughout the Roman Empire . These letters, which taught many of the foundational doctrines of Christianity, form a large portion of the New Testament. Perhaps this is a reminder to us that our sufferings here are indeed minor compared to the intense persecution and cold cruelty faced by the apostles disciples during their times for the sake of the Faith. And ye shall be hated of all men for My name’s sake said Jesus.
  8. Conspiracy theorists are terribly wrong when it comes to banks, this linked article clarifies the matter and gives straightforward facts, practically saying to conspiracy minded to take a hike. It's written by Anthony Migchels who is an Interest-Free Currency activist and founder of the Gelre, the first Regional Currency in the Netherlands. You can read his article on his blog: http://realcurrencies.wordpress.com/2013/07/15/does-rothschild-own-all-central-banks/ In that article Migchels is saying that: -Most major Central Banks, except for the FED, are publicly owned and are not private entities. -After paying its shareholders, 6% per year, the Federal Reserve (or Central Bank of USA) returns what remains of interest it collected] to the US Government, so it’s not entirely fair to say that the FED is printing money and then has the State pay interest on it. It paid and returned back to the United State 89 $ billion in 2012. However its accounting books are closed and are kept secret. -It is therefore simply wrong to state that Rothschild owns all Central Banks! All European Central Banks are completely publicly owned. They are corporations with 100% Government ownership. They do operate as ‘independent’ entities, though. -Central Banks were created by the Banks for the simple reason that Fractional Reserve Banking is incredibly unstable. There is an eternal incentive for the banksters to loan out more than they can cover with fractional reserves, leading to all sorts of destabilizing busts. This was hurting the Money Power’s control over the money supplies of the World and Central Banks were created as ‘lenders of the last resort’: in case of a panic a Central Bank could keep busted banks afloat, maintaining sufficient confidence in the system. -Furthermore, central banks were useful tools for Sovereign borrowing. The basic contract between Sovereigns and the Central Banks was, that the Central Bank would always provide the State with all the money it would ever need, in return for guaranteed interest payments through taxation. And after deducting their expenses from the funds made by charging the interest, the rest of the profit or interest is returned back to the state treasury. http://realcurrencies.wordpress.com/2013/07/15/does-rothschild-own-all-central-banks/
  9. Armenia is hard at work establishing itself as a country with a strong technical talent to invest in. The Soviet Union left a university environment strong in maths and engineering, talent that is scare in today's economy. Synopsys, Microsoft and VMW are already in the country, and others like Disney and IBM are opening offices or offshore locations. Though these larger companies have subsidiaries in Armenia, the Diaspora is coming back to open offshore development centers to service companies in US, Europe and even India, a known leader in offshore development. At the same time, Armenia is also growing as a place where repatriates from Diaspora as well as the locals are capitalizing on the existing starup industry in the country. Investors from Silicon Valley, Europe and other places are pouring money into the ideas of young entrepreneurs to make a global impact on the world economy. Opportunity is abundant in Armenia, and it is the reason many Armenians who have left the Motherland for other ventures are moving back to the country, along with next generation Armenians from the diaspora. Armenian citizens who left to go other places are returning home to work on their own ideas. Armen Kchachikyan, 24, launched a startup while studying for his masters degree in information technology at Hong kong University. 10. Janapar Trail Guide 1-Head to Kilikia-bus station in Yerevan and take the morning mini bus, mashrutka, or a taxi to Stepanakert, the capital city of Artsakh. Travel time is about 8 hours with several stops on the way. 2-Get your visa at Ministery of Foreign Affairs in Stepanakert. The visia is issued after entering the country. 3-Head to the Stepanakert bus station to catch a bus, marshrutka (van) or taxi to Hadrut. 4-Make your way to the old church in Hadrut and you'll find the first trail markings... follow them! For the markings, look for a blue rectangle/streak/arrow. The older ones have the yellow footprint on them, but the newr ones do not. --------------------- This is a good link where there is big sized map & photos & details: http://www.everytrail.com/guide/janapar-trail map link: http://www.everytrail.com/guide/janapar-trail/map 2012 Raffi Kojian Difficulty of hike: Moderate Overview: The Janapar Trail winds through the Lesser Caucasus mountain chain, in the undiscovered region of Karabakh. The trails have been there for thousands of years, as local villagers have used them to get from one place to another, and shepherds have used them to graze their flocks. A trail has been marked which will take you through some of the highlights of the region, including monasteries, fortresses, caves, waterfalls and canyons. The region is bursting with wildlife and sometimes it's hard to believe the big nature of this small region. The trail has been designed so that at the end of each day's segment, you end up in a different village or town. This has been done to give you the option of not bringing a tent and other camping gear. Instead, if you prefer you can sleep at different homestays at a cost ranging from $5 to $15 a night. This region has been de facto independent for over 20 years. The name of the country is officially "Republic of Mountainous Karabakh", but everyone just shortens it to Karabakh, or occasionally RMK. Armenians also use the name Artsakh interchangeably with Karabakh, as that is the older Armenian name. Tips: * You must arrive to this region via Armenia - there is no other access at this time. Either a van from the bus station in Yerevan or Goris, or a taxi from just about anywhere in Armenia. * South of the capital of Stepanakert are 7 days of marked trails. North of the capital are unmarked or unmaintained markings, which require you have a GPS or smartphone in order to follow them. * A 3,000 dram ($7.50 US) visa is required for Karabakh. You can get it in Stepanakert when you arrive. Ask for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Ardakin Gordzeri Nakhararutyun). *Definitely print out the free Janapar Guidebook before setting out. * You can camp just about anywhere you'd like if you bring gear, but camping near homes is probably best. * Take a UV water purifier with you so you wont have to buy and carry water. The water in Karabakh is delicious, but without a lightweight UV purifier to kill the bacteria, you may experience Mamikonian's Revenge (explosive diarrhea).
  11. Hiking in Artsakh definitely is one of the greatest wilderness adventures in a forbidden region full of mysteries and often referred to be the location of "the Garden of Eden" where Adam & Eve were created. This hike takes 2 weeks or less, and you can travel light without camping gears because you will stop at a new village at the end of each day where you will be sheltered by the locals. The trails goes by GPS app only from Stepanakert to Vardenis and then back from Vardenis to Tsar, Karvajar, Zuar, Davidvank, Vaghuhas, Gandzasar, Kolatak, Patara and STEPANAKERT again from there the trail is marked by blue marks to Shushi, Karintak, Avetaranots, Kamir Shuka, Azokh, Togh and Hadrut. From Hardut you go back to Stepanakert, the capital, to take a public transportation or taxi back to Armenia. This would be a hike you will remember the rest of your life. Just google "Janapar Project" to get info, maps, photos.... (you get your VISA when already inside Artsakh coming from Armenia)
  12. http://armenpress.am...wsâ€.html 10 July, 2013 YEREVAN, JULY 10, ARMENPRESS: The Russian Federation, Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran are interested in the seismic "pillows" produced in the Republic of Armenia. At present negotiations are held with the organizations from these countries. This was reported to Armenpress by the Acting Director of the "RETINE NORUYT" Limited Liability Company Hakob Galstyan. "The rubber-metallic seismic bases or the seismic "pillows" produced by our company have been exported by now only to Iran", - said Hakob Galstyan, adding that in Armenia there is certain inactivity in the seismic market towards the "pillows". As stated by the specialist, though the use of the rubber-metallic seismic bases is quite important and crucial for Armenia, many builders and customers avoid of them, as they are not aware of their use "culture". The Acting Director of the "RETINE NORUYT" Limited Liability Company Hakob Galstyan informed that the seismic "pillows" produced by their company have been placed in the bases of 10 structures of Yerevan, ordered mainly by the "Elite Group" Closed Joint Stock Company. The seismic "pillows" are special rubber devices, which are put in the bases of the buildings to make them quake-proof. They allow to resist up to 9,5 magnitude earthquakes. The "pillows" can be placed not only in the base of the newly built structures, but also in the old buildings. Armenia is one of the leading countries in the world producing the rubber-metallic seismic bases or the seismic "pillows".

  15. July 5, 2013 During the last two sessions of Armenia's parliament, the Rule of Law parliamentary group introduced more than 20 bills, with some of them fully approved, among the approved was the law on equal rights of men and women, which have been on the agenda for six years. ================ Women’s rights in Armenia Date Published 2009 http://www.socialwat...port/html/11600 Annual report: Yes Summary: Women’s rights have been granted in Armenia since ancient times. With the advent of the modern Republic, they were re-consecrated and, during the Soviet Era, they were expanded. However, The transition to democracy and a free market has deteriorated the situation of Armenian women in society Today they face discrimination in every aspect of life. The Government does not come to realize the full extent of the problem and the attempts to comply with international commitments are feeble and under-funded. Svetlana A. Aslanyan, PhD Leading Researcher, Head of Research Group Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia Center for the Development of Civil Society Women’s rights have been granted in Armenia since ancient times. Women’s equal rights have a long history in Armenia: Armenian ancient codes and legal regulations provide indirect evidence of the fact that in ancient times women were treated as equal members of society in issues of heritage, property and so on. For instances the code of Shahapivan (443 B.C.), provides “women a right to possess a family property in case the husband deserted his wife without any reason. It was mentioned also that a wife had right to bring a new husband home”. The Armenian famous public figure, writer and philosopher of 18th century Shahamir Shahamirian states: “Each human individual, whether Armenian or of another ethnicity, whether male or female, born in Armenia or moved to Armenia from other countries, will live in equality and will be free in all their occupations. No one will have the right to lord over another person, whereas their manual labor shall be remunerated according to any other work, as required by the Armenian Law” (Pitfalls of glory, Article 3). It is important to mention, in this context, that the First Armenian Republic of 1918-1920 was one of the first to give women the right to vote and to be elected and 8 % of the members of its Parliament were women. It is also important to emphasize that the first female-ambassador in the world was Dr. Diana Abgar (Abgaryan) Ambassador of Armenia in Japan (While Alexandra Kollontai – generally recognized to be the first female ambassador – was appointed as Ambassador of Norway as late as 1923). During the Soviet Era equal rights for men and women in work, educational, social and economic life were declared, the State guaranteed free and obligatory school education, free and accessible University Education, free and accessible medical services, paid 24 days’ vacation, allowances, prenatal and post-natal vacation etc. In 1920 the right to abortion was legalized and medical care in this field guaranteed. Despite this advances women in Soviet Armenia carried a double load and faced structural discrimination. Although the Armenian Constitution states that men and women are equal, strong mechanisms to bring this about in the daily life of Armenian society are non-existent. According to the law of Independent Armenia, Armenian women and men enjoy equal rights in political life, in work and in family. Legislative norms in Armenia mostly correspond to the major international standards. While the Constitution does not directly refer to gender equity, the principle is ensured by numerous laws. Participation of citizens in the establishment of democracy and decision-making are the most fundamental human rights. There is gender discrimination in every sphere The transition to democracy and a free market caused deterioration of the status of Armenian women in society, as well as of their economic situation. Today there is no national policy addressing women’s status. And there is a need for processes that deal with gender inequities. The Government has made no attempts to change this situation as it considers gender equality an issue that was resolved during Soviet times. The lack of effective mechanisms to ensure the proper implementation of legislation leads to discrimination of women in all spheres, including political participation. Women are often left out of economic and political processes, resume traditional roles in society, and experience the disproportionate effects of a hazardous and thoughtless transition from a totalitarian society (with a centrally planned and rigid economy) to a free market economy-based on democracy. And today there are no women’s representative bodies, parliamentary groups, or official gender advisors in Armenia. An exception was the appointment of a female Deputy Minister, in 2002, to the Ministry of Social Security she was charged with coordinate activities aimed at addressing women’s issues. Nevertheless, she was dismissed soon after and another woman was appointed who in turn was removed. At present, women’s issues are dealt with by the Department for Women’s and Children’s Issues created within the Republic of Armenia Social Security Ministry in 1997, as well as the Mother and Child Health Protection Division of the Republic of Armenia Ministry of Health. This lack of effective gender entities surfaces in how the country reports to its international commitments. Armenia was one of the 191 countries to sign the Millennium Declaration. Respect for and commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women is recognized as one of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Goal 3 of the MDGs to promote gender equality and empower women and eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary schooling, preferably by 2005 and no later than 2015. In 2005, Armenia published a first progress report on meeting the MDGs. The progress report had a notably strong degree of adaptation to the national situation, setting out broader goals than the global targets. Nevertheless, achievement of all of these goals is assessed as only ‘possible’ or ‘likely’. Achievements and setbacks. In the framework of the Beijing Action Plan implementation in 1997, the Prime Minister issued a decree on creating a Committee to carry out the 1998-2000 Gender Policy Development Program. This was a three-year program designed to improve the status of women, which was never implemented due to the lack of financing. The most important achievement was the approval of the “2004-2010 Republic of Armenia National Action Plan on Improving the Status of Women and Enhancing Their Role in Society”. (Decree number N 645 ‑ N dated 8 of April 2004 Of the Government of the Republic of Armenia). The Action Plan defines the principles, priorities, and key targets of the public policy that is pursued to address women’s issues in the Republic of Armenia. It is based on the relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Armenia and is targeted at the fulfillment of the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Violence against Women, the recommendations of the Fourth Beijing Conference (1995), the documents of the Council of Europe Steering Committee for the Equality between Women and Men, the UN Millennium Declaration requirements, and commitments of the Republic of Armenia under other international instruments. The Action Plan comprises 8 sections: Ensuring equal rights and opportunities for women and men in decision-making and in the social and political spheres; Improving the Social and Economic Condition of Women; Education Sector; Improving the Health Condition of Women; Eliminating Violence against Women; Role of the Mass Media and Cultural Institutions in Reporting on Women’s Issues and Building a Female Portray Model; and Institutional Reforms. Some points, like advancing research and recommendations on violence against women and the gathering of statistical data – contained within this sections –were implemented the program as a whole remained unaccomplished. Some entities were created over the past decade to tackle social, health related issues, and employment concerns. Regrettably they are under-funded or lack the power to either develop or carry out effective policy to overcome gender inequities and to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men. The reasons for this failure were lack of funding, the lack of coordination between the different agencies involved and the absence of mechanisms of accountability for implementation. Ultimately the low level of awareness among the population was a huge obstacle to their success. Women and civil society. It is worth noting that, after the Beijing Conference, the women’s organizations became more active, new ones were founded and several international organization including UNDP, USAID, OSCE initiated research on the topic. These organizations, as well as other international donors, awarded numerous grants to women’s NGOs. This contributed to the promotion of women’s NGOs particularly and of civil society in general. Empowering women has been one of the main objectives of women’s organizations. It serves as a unifying idea for all these organizations, regardless of the diversity of their fields of activity. In the beginning women’s organizations were launched to promote women’s civil rights or to address social problems affecting women. These organizations have been conducting a great work on women’s rights, advocacy, leadership and confronting gendered-based violence and trafficking of women. ------------------- THE BODIES CREATED FOR ASISTING WOMEN LACK EFICIENCY AND FUNDING The following bodies that tackle social, health-related issues and employment concerns for women were created in the past decade. Regrettably they are under- funded or lack the power to either develop or carry out an effective policy to overcome obstacles facing the status of women’s and to ensure equal rights and opportunities for women and men. In 2000, the Women’s Council, a voluntary consultative body, was created under the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia. However the new Prime Minister eliminated it. In October 2002 the Committee on Trafficking in Women was established. The representatives of all interested ministries and agencies as well as non-governmental organizations were represented in this committee. The Committee elaborated the Concept of Fight against Human Trafficking and a National Action Plan was devised for the period 2004-2006. The Second National Action Plan was adopted in December 2007, for 2007-2009. It covers all aspects of policy making related to human traficking including mainstreaming legislation, investigating trafficking issues their scope, the adoption of preemptive measures, information dissemination as well assistance to victims of human trafficking. In June 2005 the National Police created a Department on the Fight against Human Trafficking. In 2006 the UNDP published a Gender Equality Briefing Brochure and a Gender and Change e-Newsletter. The Brochure aimed at providing general information on gender and gender equality issues, national and international frameworks and mechanisms protecting and promoting women’s rights. It was intended for policy makers at central and local levels, civil society organizations, gender advocates, researchers, as well as for anyone seeking basic information on equal rights. The Gender and Change e-Newsletter was jointly prepared by UNDP “Gender and Politics in Southern Caucasus” programs in Armenia and Georgia. These two UNDP offices were the first to fulfill the innovative approach of preparing the newsletter on a rotational basis. This Newsletter is envisioned as a forum for all UNDP country offices in our region. In 2004 the Institute of the Ombudsman was created.

    Egypt & Turkey Don't Mix

As if the protests against the Muslim rule in Turkey were not enough, currently that country is faced with another crisis coming from Egypt where Islamist have fallen by military intervention; Turkey has been pro-Muslim Brotherhood rule in Egypt since the beginning and helped Brotherhood fighters and mercenaries, financed largely by Qatar, to infiltrate from Turkey into Syria in order to topple the government of Bashar al-Assad and replace him with a Muslim Brotherhood regime, like in Libya, having Egypt’s Morsi already calling for a Jihad against Syria. But it was the Muslim Brotherhood that fell in Egypt and not Syria's government. Soon after Turkey's FM Ahmet Davutoglu declared: "Whatever the reason is, it is unacceptable that a democratically elected government was overthrown by illegitimate means, even more, with a military coup" (Hurriyet Daily News quotes Davotuglu) as the FM went to meet PM to discuss the Egyptian developments. Davotuglu have forgotten that the Brotherhood introduced a constitution and formed a parliament in Egypt all by ILLEGITIMATE MEANS and was about to introduce Sharia Law in Egypt. And that during a year of MB rule in Egypt most of the people went more hungry and more poor than before and the numbers of protesters in the streets against Morsi reached the 14 million mark among whom where many who voted for Morsi a year ago but had a change of heart now. Clearly Morsi has not become a president for ALL Egyptians as he promised to be when first he came to power. What is clear also now that pro-Morsi Turkey has to apologize to Egypt's new rulers or face the consequences --a rupture between Egypt and Turkey since Turkey previous support has caused more blood to be shed on the streets of Cairo and Tahrir Square. Is Ordogan man enough to extent this apology to the Egyptian people? The recent news from Turkey is that Turkish authorities called Egyptian army's actions which resulted in overthrow of Mohamed Morsi unacceptable. Will Turkey order its Navy to invade Egypt in order to restore Morsi to power? With Ordogan anything is possible! http://www.veteranstoday.com/2013/07/04/washington-islamist-strategy-in-crisis-as-morsi-toppled/
  17. Considering the symbolism with which the site has been imbued, it is an uncanny and unpleasant fact of history that, for an entire people, Taksim Square already represents the demolition of the past. In an alleyway in Gezi Park, activists recently installed a makeshift tomb marked “Armenian Cemetery Sourp Hagop, 1551-1939: You took from us our cemetery, you will not have our park!” Unknown to most of Istanbul’s brave protesters is that, centuries ago, members of Istanbul’s Armenian community were buried beneath the place where they stand. In the sixteenth century, when Suleiman the Magnificent was sultan of the Ottoman Empire, a group of conspirators is said to have approached an imperial chef, Manuk Karaseferyan, with a plan for him to poison the sultan’s dinner. Karaseferyan, however, reported the assassination plot to Suleiman, who offered him a favor in return. Karaseferyan requested a place for his people, the Armenians, to be buried. The Pangalti Armenian cemetery would become the largest non-Muslim cemetery in Istanbul’s history, although, after an outbreak of cholera in the eighteen-sixties, Armenian burials moved to the city’s Sisli district. When the First World War began, there were two million Armenians living in the Ottoman Empire; by 1922, fewer than four hundred thousand remained—a slaughter of 1.5 million that historians call a genocide. (The word “genocide” was coined by Raphael Lemkin, a Jewish lawyer and Holocaust survivor, after his study of the Armenian massacres.) The campaign against Armenians involved confiscating their land, such as the cemetery; it was razed in the nineteen-thirties. Now part of Gezi Park, it is the site of hotels, apartment buildings, and a Turkish Radio and Television center. Gravestones remain on view, however: they were used to construct stairs. Nearly a hundred years later, the Turkish government has not recognized the Armenian genocide. Few Armenians remain in Turkey. The Washington Post recently published an article about an elderly woman named Asiya—the last Armenian in Chunkush, a town that once had ten thousand. In 1919, a memorial to the Armenian genocide was built in the Pangalti cemetery, but it was destroyed in 1922, years before Gezi Park was erected. Every year, a Turkish human-rights group called DurDe organizes a silent commemoration on April 24th, when, in 1915, several hundred Armenian intellectuals were rounded up for execution. It intends to reinstall a memorial in Gezi Park, but pressure from nationalists has prevented this thus far. 18. More important than the architect [Krikor Balian] though is the memory of a former Armenian cemetery left to oblivion. The place in which Gezi Park stands, where the Turkish Prime Minister now wants to build a shopping mall and a mosque, was once an Armenian cemetery. In 1551, following an epidemic, the land was given to the Armenian Church by Sultan Suleyman. It was later enlarged and walled. In 1837 Surp Hagop (Saint James) Armenian Hospital was constructed next to it, and continues to function. On the ground of the cemetery a church, Saint Gregory the Illuminator, was also built. And between 1919 and 1922 a monument dedicated to the Armenian victims of 1915 was erected. The cemetery was confiscated in 1930, on the pretext that the Armenian Church did not have a property title for the cemetery. The Armenian Patriarchate of Istanbul, Mesrob Naroyan, attempted to reclaim the cemetery through the courts, arguing that Turkish law permitted ownership after fifteen years of uncontested occupation. But the court supported the government decision, and imposed a heavy fine on the Church. The government allowed only two weeks to remove the graves. Some were taken to the Sisli Armenian cemetery, most were left behind. The cemetery was then taken over by the authorities, which sold off the tombstones. Some of the remaining marble stones were later used to build the staircases and fountain of Gezi Park while the confiscated land was sold to private businesses -- the Turkish radio company TRT offices, and luxury hotels such as the Divan Hotel, Hyatt, and Hilton. 4 July 2013 The Hidden History of Gezi Park by Vicken Cheterian a journalist based in Geneva http://www.middle-east-online.com/english/?id=59881
  19. Various reports in NaturalNews blog pointed to some side effects of consuming by humans food that has been genetically modified; symptoms ranging from digestive and reproductive disorders to liver failure, internal bleeding and immune system dysfunction. http://www.naturalnews.com/NaturalNews.html
  20. SOME EDUCATION ABOUT GM FOODS -Are GM crops cheaper to grow? GM seeds are more expensive to buy and a farmer might need to spend money and time training workers on how to grow the new crops. He might save in the cost of pesticides and he might end up with a larger crops in quantity. -What forty-three percent of the world's crops of this non-food item are genetically modified Ninety-three percent of the cotton grown in the U.S. and 43 percent of the cotton grown around the world is genetically modified. -Which country has a complete ban on GM foods and food products? Starting in 2001, all GM foods, whether raw or in the form of products or ingredients, are banned in Sri Lanka. Countries like Japan , Egypt, and Norway have partial bans on certain crops or products. -Have GM foods been shown as safe to eat? No, Since there's no mandatory testing system in place, it's impossible to determine whether all GM foods are safe. -Have Human deaths been linked to GM food consumption? Death of animals have been linked not humans; as to the effects of GM foods on humans, like cancers, it would take years to show. -Who is responsible for inspection control and safety testing of GMOs in the U.S.? There is no mandatory testing for GM foods grown in the US -What is outcrossing? Is the accidental movement of GM plants into the wild, it can cause food safety concerns, especially in the case of GM foods that are not meant for human consumption. -tangelos (tangerines and grapefruits), pluots (plums and apricots), graisins (giant raisins) are real GM fruits born by crossing two fruits and modifying genes? -Diet sodas contain aspartame, which is a GM product. Some experimentation with fruits has taken place, but apples are currently non-GM. -Are genetic modification and hybridizing seeds the same? Hybrids are seeds of the same type that have been crossed or combined to make a stronger, better seed. No new genes or elements are introduced, as is the case with GMs. -What kinds of traits have NOT been added to food crops? Aromatic enhancement. Taste- and color-enhancing genes have been introduced into plants, but aroma is not an important enough consideration to warrant expensive genetic modifications. While antibiotics, herbicide tolerance and weed-killing genes have been added to food crops. -Are there environmental benefits of growing GM foods? GM foods often are created with a gene that protects them from pests without the need for chemicals (pesticides and herbicides) that might be harmful to the environment and the species living nearby. ("if pests will not touch a GM fresh crop then humans should do likewise" opponents to GM foods claim) -What percentage of the corn grown in the U.S. is GM? 85 percent; corn is second only to soybeans as a GM food in USA. -Maize (corn) is the only GM crop currently grown in Europe. Any other GM food consumed in Europe gets imported from the U.S. or Canada if not banned by European regulations. -Bt corn is a GM food that kills pests, reducing the need for insecticides. It also causes the death of the monarch caterpillars. However, although monarchs may ingest some Bt pollen while eating their normal milkweed diet, it's probably not enough to harm them. -Which of the following foods may contain genetically modified ingredients? 1-popcorn. 2-baby formula. 3-canned soups. All of the three; Hundreds of everyday products contain GM foods. Even frozen pizza and cookies may be modified. -Whole grains such as rye and barley are not genetically modified. Yeast and grapes are non-GM, but GM enzymes sometimes are used during the production and processing of alcoholic beverages. -According to the Center for Food Safety, up to 75 percent of the food items found on supermarket shelves in the U.S. contain genetically modified ingredients. More than in Canada, China and UK. -What did Obama promise in 2007? To label all GMO food sold in US as such, but never kept his promise so we are not aware when GM foods are consumed by us; and on contrary in 2013 Obama signed the law excepting and protecting Monsanto and others who produce GMO seeds from any lawsuits of harm and damage caused by consuming their GM foods by humans by planting their GM seeds.
  21. I keep posting those as a prevention to keep Armenia's arcticulture safe from ---------------------------------------- Genetically-modified soy, Roundup destroying life in South America Wednesday, July 03, 2013 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer http://www.naturalnews.com/041047_Roundup_GM_soy_South_America.html (NaturalNews) Advocates of genetically-modified organisms (GMOs) need only take a close look at the current situation in South America to very quickly learn that corporate biotechnology is simply not working. Not only are GMOs destroying native cultures and the ecosystems its people groups rely on for sustenance, but the technology itself, which is heavily reliant on toxic pesticide chemicals like Roundup (glyphosate), is also killing off the people themselves, including many young children whose systems cannot tolerate heavy doses of life-killing poisons. In a four-part series compiled by GMWatch.eu, investigative journalist Dario Aranda offers unique insight into what is actually taking place on the ground in South America, and specifically in Argentina where massive GM soy plantations have supplanted the rich biodiversity of yesteryear. Aranda spoke with an everyday mother, a rural doctor, a lawyer, and a community educator about the widespread use of Roundup in Argentina, and each one of these folks offered the same input - glyphosate and the crops it is sprayed on are completely destroying the country. Glyphosate is killing children In his first interview, Aranda spoke with a mother whose children were being sickened by sprayings of glyphosate in fields near her neighborhood. Viviana Peralta observed that her newborn daughter Ailen was falling ill every other day or so, and later made the connection to glyphosate. Peralta successfully convinced a local judge that the sprayings were directly responsible for poisoning not only her children but also many others in the area, despite vehement denial from the soy industry, and a mandatory buffer zone was eventually established. But the fight was not easy. "We've always lived peacefully, but since the soybean production started everything has changed," Peralta is quoted as saying. "We cannot live here anymore. We've been poisoned. I always tell people the same thing. I do not know about chemistry, I did not go to university, but I know what my whole family has suffered. They are living proof that agrochemicals are poisons that affect us. To all people who are not familiar with this model of agriculture, I always say the same thing: Do not trust these companies. Reject agrochemicals. Do it for the life of your children." Glyphosate is killing adults Similar sentiments have been expressed by Mariano Aguilar, Executive Director of the Environmental Lawyers Association of Argentina. Aguilar has observed the massive destruction caused by GM crops in Argentina since they were first introduced roughly two decades ago, which has prompted him to call for a nationwide ban on glyphosate. Deformities, miscarriages, skin problems, cancer, and many other diseases have become prominent as a direct result of glyphosate use. "With this system, there are soybeans grown even on the sides of the roads; this, of course, at the expense of the health and well-being of the nearby residents," says Aguilar. "They've been left with barren land for other enterprises. Under these conditions, in Argentina, we do not know about a 'sustainable model.' We believe it's bread for today and hunger for tomorrow." Glyphosate is killing everyone Dr. Dario Gianfelici agrees, having noted during his interview that cancer and fetal deaths have risen dramatically in his town since the introduction of GM soy and glyphosate. Rates of early fetal death and death during delivery skyrocketed in the immediate months and years following the advent of GMOs, and deaths from cancer, even among young people, also rose dramatically, according to Dr. Gianfelici. "The real problem is chronic poisoning, where symptoms are seen after 10, 15 or 20 years of exposure," says Dr. Gianfelici. "Because of this, no one makes the association between their exposure to agrochemicals, so many years ago, with their infertility, prostate cancer, ovarian cancer, breast cancer or thyroid cancer." Dave Schuit, who has a honey operation in Elmwood, lost 600 hives, a total of 37 million bees. “Once the corn started to get planted our bees died by the millions,” Schuit said. He and many others, including the European Union, are pointing the finger at a class of insecticides known as neonicotinoids, manufactured by Bayer CropScience Inc. used in planting corn and some other crops. The European Union just recently voted to ban these insecticides for two years, beginning December 1, 2013, to be able to study how it relates to the large bee kill they are experiencing there also. Local grower Nathan Carey from the Neustadt, and National Farmers Union Local 344 member, says he noticed this spring the lack of bees and bumblebees on his farm. He believes that there is a strong connection between the insecticide use and the death of pollinators. “I feel like we all have something at stake with this issue,” he said. He is organizing a public workshop and panel discussion about this problem at his farm June 22 at 10 a.m. He hopes that all interested parties can get together and talk about the reason bees, the prime pollinators of so any different plant species, are dying. At the farm of Gary Kenny, south west of Hanover, eight of the 10 hives he kept for a beekeeper out of Kincardine, died this spring just after corn was planted in neighbouring fields. What seems to be deadly to bees is that the neonicotinoid pesticides are coating corn seed and with the use of new air seeders, are blowing the pesticide dust into the air when planted. The death of millions of pollinators was looked at by American Purdue University. They found that, “Bees exhibited neurotoxic symptoms, analysis of dead bees revealed traces of thiamethoxam/clothianidin in each case. Seed treatments of field crops (primarily corn) are the only major source of these compounds. Local investigations near Guelph, led to the same conclusion. A Pest Management Regulatory Agency investigation confirmed that corn seeds treated with clothianidin or thiamethoxam “contributed to the majority of the bee mortalities” last spring. “The air seeders are the problem,” said Ontario Federation of Agriculture director Paul Wettlaufer, who farms near Neustadt. This was after this reporter called John Gillespie, OFA Bruce County president, who told me to call Wettlaufer. Unfortunately, Wettlaufer said it was, “not a local OFA issue,” and that it was an issue for the Grain Farmers of Ontario and representative, Hennry Vanakum should be notified. Vanakum could not be rached for comment. Yet Guelph University entomologist Peter Kevan, disagreed with the EU ban. “There’s very little evidence to say that neonicotinoids, in a very general sense, in a broad scale sense, have been a major component in the demise of honeybees or any other pollinators, anywhere in the world,” said Kevan. But research is showing that honeybee disorders and high colony losses have become a global phenomena. An international team of scientists led by Holland’s Utrecht University concluded that, ”Large scale prophylaxic use in agriculture, their high persistence in soil and water, and their uptake by plants and translocation to flowers, neonicotinoids put pollinator services at risk.” This research and others rsulted in the Eurpean Union ban. The United Church is also concerned about the death of so many pollinators and has prepared a “Take Action” paper it’s sending out to all its members. The church is basing its action on local research. The Take Action paper states among other things, “Scientific information gathered suggests that the planting of corn seeds treated with neonicotinoids contributed to the majority of the bee mortalities that occurred in corn growing regions of Ontario and Quebec in Spring 2012.” Meanwhile Schuit is replacing his queen bees every few months now instead of years, as they are dying so frequently. “OMAFRA tells me to have faith. Well, I think it’s criminal what is happening, and it’s hard to have faith if it doesn’t look like they are going to do anything anyway,” Schuit says.
  22. Russia and Bulgaria have completely banned all rice imports from the U.S. Unapproved genetically-modified rice trials in U.S. have contaminated the world's rice supply Wednesday, July 03, 2013 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer http://www.naturalnews.com/041054_GM_rice_food_apocalypse_USDA.html (NaturalNews) New evidence has emerged suggesting that the entire global supply of rice may have already been contaminated by unapproved, genetically-modified (GM) rice varieties manufactured by the American multinational corporation Bayer CropScience. A recent entry in the GM Contamination Register explains that between the years of 2006 and 2007, three different varieties of illegal GM rice, none of which have ever been approved for cultivation or consumption anywhere in the world, were identified in more than 30 countries worldwide. Once again, field trials conducted by Bayer back in the mid-1990s appear to have been the cause of this widespread and irreversible genetic pollution. Though all official field trials of "Frankenrice" supposedly ended in 2002, the three GM rice varieties detected somehow made their way into the general rice supply, which has had a major negative impact on U.S. rice exports. Similar contamination involving both GM wheat and GM flax was also recently discovered in the food supply, and both a result of biotechnology company field trials. "No GM rice has ever been grown commercially in the U.S. and the source of the contamination is believed to be field trials of herbicide tolerant rice conducted between the mid-1990s and early-2000s by Bayer CropScience (or its precursor companies Aventis CropScience and AgrEvo)," explains the GM Contamination Register entry. "At the time of discovery only one of the contaminating varieties (LLRICE62) had approval for cultivation in the U.S., the other two varieties (LLRICE601 and LLRICE604) had not." A U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) investigation into the matter was unable to verify whether or not contamination was the result of cross-pollination, also known as gene flow, or mechanical mixing. But in either case, vagrant GM rice planted in open fields for "testing" purposes definitely escaped, and now American rice farmers are suffering the consequences as the European Union (EU), Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and others have placed strict limitations on GM rice imports. Both Russia and Bulgaria, on the other hand, have completely banned all rice imports from the U.S. "The contamination episode has also affected seed producers," adds the report, which is buried deep within the annals of the consumer watchdog group's website, completely untouched by the mainstream media. "[A]n entire non-GM rice variety Clearfield 131 was banned by U.S. regulators in early 2007 when it was found to be contaminated, costing producer BASF billions of dollars in losses." American agriculture, the pale horse of the coming food apocalypse So as the four horsemen of the apocalypse come galloping in on the world scene in the very near future, you can be sure that the pale horse, which symbolizes famine, was born and bred in the U.S. Yes, the world's most aggressive and malicious purveyor of GMOs and all the horrors that come with their consumption will be the primary driving force behind the complete destruction of the global food supply via the Trojan Horse that is GMOs. "Scientific studies confirm that GM contamination is unavoidable once GM crops are grown in a region," explains the Earth Open Source report GMO Myths and Truths: An evidence-based examination of the claims made for the safety and efficacy of genetically modified crops. "'Coexistence' rapidly results in widespread contamination of non-GM crops ... through cross-pollination, spread of GM seed by farm machinery, and inadvertent mixing during storage." After the fall of Mursi in Egypt; "In the end, the army sided with the protesters and the cruel joke was on the president: whether it was tragedy or comedy, placards reading 'Egypt and Mursi don't mix' got the biggest laugh on Tahrir Square" Will Ordogan also fall because "Ordogan and Turkey don't mix now" after the recent protests against him"?? Like Mursi Ordogan was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood but he resigned from the Brotherhood as soon as he was elected to political office. The Turks kept Ordogan in office because he brought economic prosperity in Turkey however Turks now are saying that that prosperity does not give Erdogan a mandate to act in a dictatorial manner and are declaring that their honeymoon with Ordogan is over. Who is going to be the next Turkish leader? Is there someone in Turkey able to fill in Ordogan's shoe after he put the Turkish Army in his pockets?
  24. Russia’s Weaponry Exporter Reports $34Bln in Orders http://en.rian.ru/mi...-in-Orders.html MOSCOW, July 3 (RIA Novosti) – Russia’s state arms exporter said Wednesday that its order portfolio stood at $34 billion as of June 1. Rosoboronexport delivered $6.5 billion worth of weaponry to foreign customers in the first half of this year, deputy head Igor Sevastyanov announced, adding that the current order portfolio included contracts with 67 countries. Russia, which last year sold $15.2 billion worth of weaponry, is the world’s No. 2 arms exporter, behind the United States. Sevastyanov added that his company was in talks regarding contracts worth a total of more than $80 billion. But it was not immediately clear in what time frame those contracts could be concluded. Russia’s main arms customers are India, Algeria, China, Venezuela, Malaysia and Syria. Vietnam also emerged as a significant purchaser in 2010, when it signed a deal to buy submarines, aircraft and other military hardware. ========================== Arthur Aghabekyan: “Russia has sold Azerbaijan such equipment which is designed to destroy the peaceful population.” Aravot.am inquired from the Deputy Prime Minister of NK Arthur Aghabekyan, who participated in Artsakh liberation war and occupied the position of Deputy Minister of Defense of RA MD whether Russia selling weapons to Azerbaijan does not violate the balance of military powers between the two countries. Mr. Aghabekyan was not so much concerned about the violation of the balance as he was concerned that our strategic ally Russia is selling such equipment to Azerbaijan that are designed to destroy the peaceful population. “In fact, military operations began when the imbalance of powers occur. The acquisition of weapons by Azerbaijan, each and every time, was followed by the review of planning the defense by us, and the review is not only rearrangement of the divisions and military units, but also for acquisition of weapons. And he Republic of Armenia has done its best to avoid the imbalance in the arena of military actions of defense-attack. I should frankly admit that the military equipment that were recently acquired by Azerbaijan, tanks, anti-aircraft defense weapons of mass destruction, at this time I’m talking as a military or political figure, cannot have a very sharp and big impact on our imbalance of powers, it means that we have a problem in reviewing the defense planning, whether in terms of military units, military types, or in terms of new armature, but the most important thing is what goal Azerbaijan pursues by acquiring such weapons of mass destruction.”,- said Mr. Aghabekyan in a conversation with us. According to him, “Some types of these weapons are designed for the rapid success, as said in Russian: «......» weapons. Azerbaijan acquires weapons, which are designed for the destruction of peaceful population, and any weapon applied towards the peaceful population causes panic. And our frontline militants, armed forces divisions, know that their parents and relatives are at the rear. Right here we have problems to think, our politicians, our friendly countries, politicians of our friendly countries should raise their voices that Russia has sold such equipment to Azerbaijan that are designed to destroy the peaceful population. I am sure that there will be politicians in the Republic of Armenia and in Artsakh who will give true assessment to this deal. In this regard, I consider an unfortunate event in our lives that our strategic neighbor is selling our opponent weapons to destroy peaceful population.” Lusine BUDAGHYAN Read more at: http://en.aravot.am/2013/07/01/155144/ --------------------------- While Hayk Ghazaryan wrote in July 2, 2013 in karabakh-open.info According to the Russian Vedomosti, Russia supplied to Azerbaijan armaments costing 1 billion USD, including three battalions of T-90 tanks, three battalions of armored vehicles, one division of Msta-S self-propelled howitzer, one division of Smerch BM -30 rocket systems, one division of Vena self-propelled howitzer and one unit Solntsepyok heavy flame thrower system. Interview with first commander of NKR self-defense Arkady Karapetyan Mr. Karapetyan what is Russia's goal? I don't believe that by selling weapons Russia is trying to maintain the balance in Transcaucasia, on the contrary, it is boosting tension. It rather balances the Russian military base which does not belong to Armenia. I'm mostly worried about the sale of Smerch rocket systems. If 1600 people died as a result of a Grad volley in Tskhinvali, can you imagine what will happen if Smerch is used against Stepanakert? Thousands of people will die, if not the whole population. Russia is selling weapons to Armenia at internal Russian prices, while to Azerbaijan at international prices. The weapons sold to Armenia at internal prices are the old generation weapons, such a T-72 tanks. Why aren't they selling Smerch rockets, airplanes and other types of weapons to us in order to keep the balance? Recently Iskander ballistic missiles have been imported to Armenia. This is said to be the proof of commitment to parity. These missiles have been provided to the Russian base. If they gave them to us and trained local staff, that would be different. Second, for example, Iskanders will be launched at headquarters which may have been already dislocated during the war, while Smerch is a direct threat to the population. One volley of this missile will destroy 67 hectares. One division is composed of 18 stations, Azerbaijan has two divisions today. If Azerbaijan does not buy weapons from Russia, it will buy from other countries, such as Israel. Let it buy but we would at least know that it is not buying from our friendly country. Plus, only Russia produces Smerch in the world, which is a weapon of mass destruction. According to a Russian political scientist, Russia is acting in the same way as NATO and the U.S. which sell weapons to Egypt and Israel, Greece and Turkey in order to maintain the balance. Israel has nuclear weapon. Do NATO and the U.S. sell nuclear weapons to any other country in the region? Smerch is equal to a nuclear weapon in our region. The CTSO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha said about Russia supply to Azerbaijan that it is business, market relations and Russia's economy. ============================ RUSSIA TRYING TO RESTORE PRESENCE IN SOUTH CAUCASUS "AT LEAST PARTIALLY" Regnum news agency, Russia June 29 2013 by Gay Borisov Moscow has recently increased its military and political activeness in the South Caucasus. Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev and ODKB [Collective Security Treaty Organization] Secretary General Nikolay Bordyuzha visited Armenia literally within several days. An agreement on developing Russian-Armenian military and technical cooperation was signed as a result. They also discussed the issues of reinforcing the 102nd Russian [military] base in Armenia and intensifying joint military exercises, strengthening the Armenian Air Forces and antiaircraft defence, modernizing border guard detachments of the FSB [Federal Security Service] of the Russian Federation, and defending the Turkish and Iranian sectors of the Armenian border together with their Armenian colleagues. It was also decided to create a joint structure - ArmRosgosservis [Armenian-Russian state service], which is of regional importance due to its size. Parallel to it, Russia started delivering weapons and hardware to Azerbaijan. The deal is worth 750m-1bn dollars. This sum of money would be sufficient to fully arm and equip an army division from scratch. Certainly, the fact aroused questions among Armenian experts. However, the Russian side hinted that Yerevan had been informed about the sale of weapons to Baku. It was also said that the "business project", which, according to the expert of the Russian Institute for Strategic Studies (RISS), PhD in Military Science Vladimir Zakharov, is aimed to restore parity of forces in the region, which changed to Armenia's advantage after it became known that Iskander-M guided missile systems had been located on its territory (it should be noted though that so far, there has been no official confirmation of the information). However, the true aim of the deal with Azerbaijan is that by delivering weapons and military hardware, Russia is trying in some measure to maintain its military and political presence in the country, which started to come to naught after Russian specialists left the Qabala Radar Station. Meanwhile, in view of short-term prospects of developments in the region, further weakening of Russia's positions is rather gravid. The thing is that in a year, the Americans and their allies will start withdrawing their troops from Afghanistan.
