Ludwig9
It was reported on one of the Armenian news channel in LA, that the Turks and the Azeris claim that they will have Armenia off the Map in 25 years. Did anyone else see the same thing ? Edited August 27, 2004 by Ludwig9
bellthecat
It was a quote from a speech made by an insane Azeri general. As long as the quality of Azerbaijan's generals remains at that level, Armenia has nothing to worry about! gamavor
I'm afraid he is right. Not because at this stage and age agression could bring down any country, but purely because of lack of vision for the future. Armenian government (present and future) should work hard on building a social security system modeled after Sweden and France, however painful that might be. jgm1975
The greatest threat to Armenia is the migration issue. Prior to independence, there was a population of 3.5 million. Now it is around 2 million, maybe a little more. The danger is that Azerbaijan, at 8 million, might think that it has an advantage and resume hostilities. Instead of building Churches in Armenia, we should build factories that produce jobs.

ED
and how is this system going to be funded when no-one is willing to pay taxes? style_images/master/snapback.png Easy and effective way of doing this is introduction of national sales tax on most consumer goods (excluding food) for example cigarettes and alcohol is ridiculously cheap, luxury tax is another way of doing it, the problem isn’t introduction of those and similar majors, the problem is the implementation of such, wile most educated are leaving the country vultures are taking over

The people taking over now should be stopped first. style_images/master/snapback.png Gurgen, most who can afford left, there are lots of descent people in Armenia who are basically lack very basic necessities, those who skin the ordinary folk are a very small but powerful minority and have monopoly over almost everything starting from basic goods to government control, the changes such as funding and bringing social justice it must be implemented. First and foremost you got to start by cleaning the house from those vultures.
