Poverty In Armenia

Recommended Posts

Sad indeed

I was in Gyumry back in 2002 and no matter how you prepare your self still hits you with a dose of harsh reality when you walk into the "city" shock and sorrow, if its possible to fill angry, sad, and disgusted at the same time, that’s what I felt, lawlessness and carelessness both the authorities and people I don’t blame ordinary folks

there is this new section called, 48 taghamas, and new and what I saw pretty much like old and similar to Calcutta slumps, and in the middle of this so called new aria there was this beautiful huge church Diaspora Armenians build, as locals would tell me, why do we need this huge church?, we need factories, jobs something to work on, income, investors from Diaspora because we lost all hope of current government and all Diaspora does is build churches. for this and similar reasons I always emphasize the importance of Diaspora Armenians to get involved, its essential and time is now or tomorrow we be crying for missed opportunities

Exactly, people are hungry, unemployed and isntead of investing to solve these problems, some build churches, as if there is a shortage of them.

I try to understand Dispora- they may not trust the government either, they see the country is robbed and sold, so they prefer building churches.

However, not many of them see the Armenian reality and tend to blame those leaving the country. There is an intensive financial flow from Diaspora to Armenia, but it does not affect people's life standards. The financial flow does not stop, so I guess the current state of affaires is mutually beneficial both for the government and Diaspora.
