I can't even believe the results. The Americans are as much religious fanatics as some countries they accuse of fanatism... the Americans are as much self centered and doesn't care of the world including their own neighboor. What they fking do has a direct impact in the world... the least they could do is consider us the rest of the world in their decisions. I have lost faith in the american people. Azat
We in this country deserve what we get... I was very saddened by the results of Florida and as they showed the numbers of Ohio. We have made the bed and now we have to sleep in it. This was a very critical election as 2 possibly 3 supreme court judges will be replaced now by Bush. Abortion business should start to thrive in Canada when that happens. I suggest to all of you to invest in Canadian companies that preform abortions. The only foreign policy this administration practices and believes in is carried at the tip of the bombs that they drop. Democrats have become a party of losers. Loosing the presidency to an idiot, and once again the VP cannot carry even his own state. Why choose a VP who does not help the ticket(oh ya I forgot Democrats think that he is pretty and women are idiots and it will increase the female vote). Also this party is wrong in the candidates that we select. Kerry? Please. It is VERY hard for a Senator to win as they have too much history in the Senate and will be abused by the other party and by the press. Secondly Democrats could not even keep the seats they had in the Senate. currently is is 53 to 45. And 2 races are too close to call, so it could go to 55/45. but at best it will be 53/47. Also the very popular minority leader looses to an unknown candidate. Republicans gain seats in the House and I think governorships were split down the middle at 11 each. This party needs a kick in the ass and I hope this was the kick they needed. Most likely not. On another note. Our friend Michel Moore should be shot as he was the #1 supporter of Nader in 2000 that helped Gore loose Florida at that time. So all his movies and all that crap that he has done and said are all fake as the guy helped Bush get in office. And a positive note. I just checked expedia.com and there are still seats for flights to Canada this weekend. Edited November 3, 2004 by Azat
Nakharar
Now it's official. AP: Kerry Calls Bush to Concede Presidency 2 mintues ago http://us.news2.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/p/ap/20041103/capt.dcpm10711030324.bush_dcpm107.jpg By CALVIN WOODWARD and RON FOURNIER, Associated Press Writers WASHINGTON - President Bush won a second term from a divided and anxious nation, his promise of steady, strong wartime leadership trumping John Kerry's fresh-start approach to Iraq and joblessness. After a long, tense night of vote counting, the Democrat called Bush Wednesday to concede Ohio and the presidency, The Associated Press learned. Kerry ended his quest, concluding one of the most expensive and bitterly contested races on record, with a call to the president shortly after 11 a.m. EST, according to two officials familiar with the conversation. The victory gave Bush four more years to pursue the war on terror and a conservative, tax-cutting agenda — and probably the opportunity to name one or more justices to an aging Supreme Court. He also will preside over expanded Republican majorities in Congress. "Congratulations, Mr. President," Kerry said in the conversation described by sources as lasting less than five minutes. One of the sources was Republican, the other a Democrat. The Democratic source said Bush called Kerry a worthy, tough and honorable opponent. Kerry told Bush the country was too divided, the source said, and Bush agreed. "We really have to do something about it," Kerry said according to the Democratic official. Kerry placed his call after weighing unattractive options overnight. With Bush holding fast to a six-figure lead in make-or-break Ohio, Kerry could give up or trigger a struggle that would have stirred memories of the bitter recount in Florida that propelled Bush to the White House in 2000. Nakharar
You said it best Azat. Kerry has loser written all over his face. Right from the beginning. Too timid and a bureaucratic w***er he never had a chance in the first place. What is sad is that all of the original contenders (I won't even mention that clown Dean) be it Clark, Lieberman, Gephardt, Edwards were pathetic beyond help. We shouldn't blame the American people at all. The Democrats wasted an opportunity of a lifetime. They could have used Bush's every conceivable blunder and divisive tactic to their advantage but they even messed that up. I think Moore's days as a "documentary" maker were numbered anyway. He may have some entertainment value but he is a spent force as well. Edited November 3, 2004 by Nakharar
Twilight Bark
Pretty good summary of the situation, Azat. Democrats should do two things at a minimum. First, as you said they should avoid senators as presidential candidates at all costs; I can't believe they didn't see what has been obvious to so many people. Second, they should open up their primaries to non-Democrats, thereby allowing a more universally likeable candidate to emerge. I would like to add a few observations about what the electorate appears to have thought: Rural voters, who are in no danger of terrorist attacks care much much more about "war against terrorism" (a term that comfortably qualifies as Orwellian) than the urban voters who are directly threatened by terrorism. Absurd. Privatising social security (whcih supposedly reserves one's contributions to oneself in one form or another) does not leave a collosal hole in the budget in order to pay for the current social security benefits, which are by design paid by current contributions. Absurd. Small businesses would hire more people if the money they paid to outside agencies was directly proportional to the size of their payroll (health care payments), rather than a result of profits they realized (tax). Absurd. The potential life of a fertilized egg is more important than the life of 18-year olds that we are proud to send to their deaths. Also, letting fertilized eggs rot in storage is morally acceptable, while using them for stem-cell research is a monstrous act. Absurd. There is of course much more, but this much should suffice to indicate that the 52% of the electorate fully deserves this administration. What concerns me is the 25% or so whose fate is tied to the peasants that make those choices.

sev-mard
My question has been this: Why are we so mad, or even surprised? The majority of America are these right wing, spitak, Bush lovers. Seriously, we're call minorities for a reason. And in a "democracy" the majority wins. We need to focus more on local things, build up what we can and deal with the other stuff later. Because this presidential gig is a screw job. Seriously... nairi
Akh, who cares? As if Kerry would've made a big difference. Same piece of crap as far as I'm concerned. Just be happy you have a president. And don't worry, he's not running anything, let alone the country. I'm not upset about anything, except for the fact that Holland has made the American elections its own. Who cares?? Since when are we Americans?? Some obscure country in the middle of nowhere has elections and no one turns around to even see the name of the country. Some stupid bully of a nation with even more stupid people in it votes and we spend our WHOLE day and night clutched to the TV as if it's our own country and our own vote that's going to count. As long as I am not elligible to vote for that country, I could care less who wins or who loses. Get a life people! It's just a stupid election that's certainly not going to make a difference in MY life!
Stormig
Azaty Poo, why fly to Canada? Need an abortion? TB's use of the word "absurd" has made me think of the U.S. of Absurdistan. Seriously... style_images/master/snapback.png Why am I so mad? Maybe because of all the crap the Bush administration did against Canada... I am as well mad because I could not believe that our neighboors could elect a religious fanatic when at the same time condemning other religious fanatics. I can not believe that the party that stole the elections in 2000 was able to get away with it. I can not believe that the Americans ignored the rest of the world, including their closest neighboor. What should I think about the Americans now? What should I think of the majority of Americans having said yes to a right wing religious fanatic psychopath that possibly cheated them by wearing earpieces during the presidential debate? You have no idea of the phone tribunes here in Eastern Canada, and what they say... Vava could confirm, never the reporters, news commentators, even poll statisticians showed their deceptions like this for any foreign elections. We feel cheated by our neighboors that decided to disconnect from the rest of the world and including us. I am full of disgust for those claiming to be liberals and being republicans(Thoth for example)... I can't understand how students and women could even vote for this psychopath. I am disgusted to learn that America is the "Iran" equivalent of the Western world. I CAN'T EVEN BELIEVE THAT AMERICANS HAVE VOTED FOR THIS SKER. I know statistics gave Bush an advantages, but I still believed common sense would prevail at the end. And for those mother fker that voted for Bush because they were against gay marriage(I'm against gay marriage, but this is insignificant compared with the consequences of Bush reelection). Fk them all, placing gay marriage and religious concervatism at the center. I find this so much retarded that a so-called Western country could still exist where religion will dictate people for whom to vote. Right now, the only think I feel wanting to do is going in American boards and bitching at them, calling them traitors of the Western civilisation.
