We have begun a blog that will contain a daily journal of the journey, and are hoping to get together Armenians from all around the world. Our hope will be to visit as many different armenian families in every country we pass through, giving a spotlight on how they live, their views on things, etc. I am asking the forum for their advise on how we can try and get Armenians in other, more remote places, such as Central and South America, Africa, Asia, etc. to see our site. This project could only go as far as the number of Armenians around the world we can get together. So, how (cheaply) can we spread the word? We feel it is going to be important to help spread knowledge of Armenia in the coming few years, as world conflicts rise, we want to make sure that the world will not 'turn a blind eye' to our little nation and its hostile neighbors. We will be waiting as long as possible before planning the actual route, and that will depend on how many people we can get to reach the site and find out about the project. Armen Posted August 6, 2004 Report Share Posted August 6, 2004 Huffzone, you could ask the Armenian newspapers to publish a short story each. I am sure some of them would not mind. BTW, the Armenia diaspora in all Asia is around 700-800 people (excluding Australia) with 60% living there on temporary basis (short term business, studies etc.). We were thinking of the Armenian papers, but were hoping to do that after we had a little following first, so that they would see that people are indeed interested in the project...but that is still to be seen... The first person to post a comment was a guy living in Japan, that is studying Armenian culture, (he even runs a Armo Website!), and his teacher there in Japan is Armenian. So, like this, we're hoping that we can slowly can enough contacts to plan a RTW route. China may be rough, but we can always go the Japan-Russia-Europe route. Africa has a bunch of real nice places to go to, and I'd like to at least hit the northern end (Morocco), from or to Spain, but yea, that may be rough...Spain and Italy Armenians we also have no contacts with so far, as well as any of South America:( Personally, I have cusins and friends of family in Austrailia, but he knows an Armenian (also a teacher) in New Zealand, so that's good. I have not even gotten around to my cusins in Germany and France, who may know other Armenians in other countries around them. Turkey, Greece, and Russia, we got covered, and if need be, even contacts in Bulgaria and Romania. Anyway, you get the point, from friends, friends-of-friends, contacts, the blog, etc, and a decent amount of time, we think we may be able to get it done. BTW, we were planning this trip anyway, so, if this works or not, we're going. But if we can get enough people to participate this project of ours, then we'll go the 'Armenian Route', heh. Huffzone Posted August 6, 2004 Author Report Share Posted August 6, 2004 It came from Web-Log. which is basically a webpage, which most people use for journals, diaries, or posting their views etc. etc. There are actually a definitions for it now; A blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of updating a blog is "blogging" and someone who keeps a blog is a "blogger." Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog. Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in cronological order with the most recent additions featured most prominantly. n: Slang term for a weblog. A Web log, for the uninitiated, is a popular and fairly personal content form on the Internet. A person’s Web log is almost like an open diary. It chronicles what a person wants to share with the world on an almost daily basis. Webpages that are constantly updated with new commentary and links about a particular topic. Often very personal.
