"As a result, today the United States government is raising the threat level to Code Orange for the financial services sector in New York City, northern New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.," Ridge said. Uh-oh, the Bush Cheney polls must be down. Crank up the fear and paranoia machine, and get ready for the ratcheting up of the National Security States of America. "The preferred means of attack would be car or truck bombs," Ridge said. "That would be a primary means of attack." Why he thinks anyone should believe him after the incompetence of CIA and FBI "intelligence" after 9/11 is anybody's guess. Ridge also said that the threat potential remains through the Nov. 2 elections. The unstated message -- it might be prudent to cancel the elections to make everybody completely safe and secure from "terrorism." Majority of the public is always drawn to scandals and drama. In New York the most widely read papers are “New York Post” and “New York Daily News”, one could say that’s it’s due to their catchy headlines (I call them trashy), others can say that it’s due to their smaller format (unlike a whole bed sheet of New York Times), or perhaps due to its easy readability (Wall Street Journal could be as well read upside down by some it’ll receive the same understanding). I say that it’s due to the fact that it spices up some people’s lives. And although many go to therapists to deal with their continuous panic attacks associated with these terrorism alerts or high crimes, I say that majority loves to have something to gossip about. I have people coming up to me and asking “Did you hear about that guy who strangled a woman with a dental floss?” I give them a blank stare. “What??? Where have you been, how can you not know?!” I ask them about the latest news in Nepal and the revolt of the communist party. Now it’s their turn to give me a blank stare. Just around the corner of 9/11, how ironic, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this sort of "threat levels" will increase as long as polls will indicate unfavorable to Bush’s reelection. But without an audience the efforts would be useless, however there are still so many doodleheads who would instantly fold and keep Bushy Bush in mind for the elections. Why are so many people so eager to believe in such nonsense while it's clearly impossible for a reasonable mind to be persuaded by this masquerade. Perhaps the public deserves this sort of a President if they are fools enough to believe in every crummy threat. My question: Is the media feeding the fear or is the urge for the "Indiana Jones" syndrome which makes people more receptive to such lollygag? Yes, they are, but only when a "bus" explodes in Tel Aviv. A Armenian Church was blown up in Iraq, which has more relation to Americans, but yet how many channels covered it? Furthermore, was the coverage, equally, overexposed compared with a terrorist attack in Israel? When a bus explodes in Israel you have it labeled as "breaking news" and it lasts for almost the entire day. Later on you have an hour or so of "talking heads" discussing the threat to "Americans". My God, two of the "biggest" religions are waging war against one another, but yet there are no cameras in sight.
