angel4hope Posted June 10, 2004 Report Share Posted June 10, 2004 lately i have been thinking alot about this.... i know it's a rather cliche' topic and everyone has their little personal theory on what their purpose in life is. But generally speaking, of the whole population- the whole world- what really is our purppose in life- either as collevtive groups/families/social circles/ethnicities/races/cultures.... This sounds a bit vague, but what Im trying to say is- i know people have evolutionary theories that claim that our sole purpose in life is to reproduce and pass on our genes into the future... but where does this ideaology stop? there must be another purpose for which everyone wants to "survive" and "make it in the world" in the so called evolutionary perspective-- I personally dont agree with the theory- or with the idea that our sole purpose is to reproduce- if this was true, then why do we seek relationships, friendships, social ties, want and need to belong? why do we (not necessarily "we" but political figures or other people) kill off others for land, money, oil, hate, jealousy... what do we get out of it? is it a feeling of accomplishment? gratification? superiority? im just baffled with everything that is going on in the world, one click of the remote yeilds thousands if not millions of pieces of bad news, murder, hate, war, rape, anything and everything.... if our goal is to survive and make it in the world- as these theorists often claim, then why do we kill eachother or hurt eachother...if we cannot live alone- if we are always searching for social ties and relationships? it just sometimes feels like we're in some sort of blackhole or alternate universe- because when everything makes sense on the surface, nothing makes sense when you look deeper into it... yes thats my reaction too...im sorry but i couldnt help it- my mind wonders off alot and i wanted to share this view and see what people think... gevo27 Posted June 10, 2004 Report Share Posted June 10, 2004 I have the exact answer to that.. but if i say it everyone will call me an ignorent fool.. well those who dont share the same views through the Bible on life as i do anyways.. which is really most of the people on this forum... but yeah.. its actually much simler than what you are making it .... shall i go on?
