I was at the time a Republican and married to the daughter of a prominent Republican family. Years later the personnel manager, whom I remained friends with, told me that there was no good reason for my termination. Now, I know why I was terminated. I had been a key part of my fiim winning a number of contracts. As long as George Deukmejian was Governor, I was safe. When Wilson became governor, it was a different story. One of Pete Wilson's close associates had been very vocal that he was aggravated that this "grease-monkey Armenian" was winning all these contracts instead of him.
