No stagefright here, but I have a problem going downhill - down slopes - on foot - if the ground is loose. I also can't stand insects and start frantically grabbing around for something to bash them with if I can't escape them. The speed of their movements with proportion to their body sizes is disgusting. I think I am also getting to be fear, and I mean REALLY fear, scorpions, because someone not that far away from me was stung by one FIVE times in the leg one summer, and to think it could've been me who had the drat thing up my pants just sends me writhing. For this reason sometimes I wish my zodiac sign were just eagle or phoenix instead of scorp/eagle/phonenix/dove. I really like the idea of phoenix.

I'm also sometimes terribly frightened when someone scares me like Harut described. (I don't get frightened "when people seem to appear out of nowhere whereas they were just going about their stuff" kind of thing - at least I haven't for a while.) In fact, my brother, when we were younger, once did that to me and finished it off with a slap in the butt (which around that time he never seemed to get enough of but which I was understandably fed up with). He thought it was sooooo funny. Well... I turned around fast and smacked him - hard - only occasion of doing such that I remember. For a minute there I had thought he was going to cry. Then he hiccupped that it HADN'T hurt and stomped off to his room and shut his door. LOL... He knew he had long deserved it. And he never did it again - ever. More effective than taking the bureaucratic road, a.k.a. complaining to the parental units. So now I don't have, and have gotten over, fear of my brother.

Not really a fear, but some sort of pyschological issue I have developed.

After coming back from Japan the morbidly obese populous of America disturbs me. I actually am taken aback when I see huge people walking around, to the point of nearly losing my appetite if i'm on the way to work. No I love my women 'thick' {with curves for the ebonically challenged} but this is not gundt so there is a difference. I just think of how they got that big, and how i'm sure they are not happy about it, and how their Life is affected by them being HUGE!? Sounds weird but true, like it disturbs me, they 'jump' out at me.

So there is my irrationanl 'fear' or just 'weird pyschological thing' B)

since we mentioned our fears......any ideas of how to get rid of 'em?

oh....and that whole thing about confronting ur fears......DOES NOT WORK

:(

LOL, well I think by saying confront your fears, is mean to be able to get into that situation, and be shown by an expert, or a friend or someone that will help you go on, that really there is nothing to be afraid of.. Like spiders,, theres very few spiders around your house that can kill you, or that will even bite you :).. So by letting one crawal along on your hand with professional guidance, youll see that, yeah, only problem with spiders is that they tickle. :) ...

BUT! dont try to scare someone witha real live terantula!!!! the fear grows. lol..

there you have it.. you need to face your fears, what other way will you see that it really isnt fearful..

i developed this fear by seeing other ppl being afraid of it. i 4got how that's called. Starts with an "O"..i think. but anyways, i can't even stand looking at spiders. A few weeks ago or so i was watching the Discovery channel and they were showing spiders and i couldn't even look at it.

That is the reason why i didn't go see Eight Legged Freaks(that movie). LOL. :(

I think i need to start out with a toy spider that feels like a real spider. lol. egh, gross even talking about it.

sev-mard!!! u're afraid of fat people??? :o

aaww, jan. don't worry. they won't eat u.

AllArmenianGirl - my Dad - who grew up on a farm where snakes killed things and stole eggs I guess - hated snakes with such a passion that even if he just saw one on TV he would fly into a rage. I'm not exaggerating here either. And once I can recall telling him about a snake that I saw in the woods several miles from our home. When i came home I told him about it and he insisted on me taking him to it so that he could kill it (it was gone by then luckily)....actually I think snakes are pretty cool - and use to catch poisonous snakes with a friend when we were in high School and sell them for their venom to a local reptile institute (had a few very close calls that we still laugh about and can tell the stories like they happened yesterday)....never mentioned this to my dad - LOL...and the only animal I have ever intentionally killed was a rattlesnake...he suprised me on a trail and I happend to be carrying an old 12 gauage (1895 Winschester...belonged to my Grandpa when he was a boy!..and I still have it of course...)...blew him into tiny bits as he coiled to strike...all preatty freaky...I could only find little splotches of blood and a few (maybe) pieces of him left after...LOL

Iv killed my share of rattlesnakes on trails.. But, here is a good story real quick, me and my friend were riding our bikes (mountain pedal bikes not dirt) up the side of this dry grassy hill.. and as we pass a bush we hear the noise.. and we stopp turn back, and this snake is curled ready to strike allready, we get our helmets, and crush it. LOL.. then we cut off its tail and hung it at my friends hous.. and then after that we have managed to shoot and kill, bout 5 more, so we have i think 5 or 6 rattles hanging at his house :).. i will take a pic of it.. its pretty kewl.

As for snakes, they dont scare me, my family scared me more than snakes, when they find one, they wnt me to shoot it, i want to cath it ;)... lol..

Oh, THOT, iv shot plenty of snakes at point blank range, they might fly 10 feet or so, but i could always find the bulk of it. LMAO...

armogirl jan, dont try to fix your fears with a fake spider, thos things are creepy!!.. LOl..

one word.........

EEEEEEEEWWWWW

ok, back to serious.

gevo, that is just sick. having a dead spider as a bracelet. egh, gross gross gross.:yucky:

actually, psychologists say that for this particular fear, getting one of those fake spiders(toys) that feel like real spiders is a great way of getting rid of this phobia, because the person knows that it is not real, but sees it real. Then, later getting a real spider and holding it in their hands.
