Armat this thread is especially for you. :D :P

Well ladies and gentlemen I cleaned my CPU fan today with a qtip. Do you think it's fatal to my system? Perhaps you have other suggestions how to clean the layers of thick grey glacier dust formed on the blades of the fan using domestic tools. Please fire away.

Blow on it? :D You can get these cleaner sprays that spray compressed air mostly used for cleaning keyboards and other electronics. That would be the best way to do it ... to avoid contact. But closing eyes and giving a vigorous blow will do wonders for the thick dust ... it's also useful for cleaning out connectors and contacts on the motherboard for example.

Note the close eyes part.

I already tried oh wise one! The layers are severely encrusted on the blades, they are hanging on to the propeller like the bulldog hangs on to his ham. Perhaps I am not a professional blower. Compressed air is another dip into my budget, I am trying to be creative at the moment and refrain from using my monetary supplies. How about a paintbrush, camel haired one perhaps? B)

Weeeeeeeeell ... Do you like mexican food? :lol2:

Ok ok ok .... I'll stop RIGHT there.

First of all little firecracker, I don't see a laughing matter here, this is a serious situation where the health of my device is hanging on by a thread! :D

Second of all yes I like Mexican food, but as I have mentioned before I refuse to dip into my financial assets, in addition judging by the amount and the strength of the dust I might rip myself apart by consuming just the right amount of mexican food. Need I say more? :D

Once a month I take compressed air to all the fans in my PC... That includes the Fan on the video card, Fans for the chasis, CPU fan, and fan inside the Power supply. Plus I keep my house ultra dust free.. All this prevents that "thick grey glacier dust" you were talking about. Plus my PC has a clear side to it so you can see inside.. thats another reason I keep the inside spotless. Plus Build up on the fans can make your PC run hotter than normal. Edited by Armo77
