Hi all!

I'm having alot of hassles with IE6, it keeps crashing on me! It's most annoying!!

:(

I found this site by searching for some help. I decided to become a member coz someone here has also had problems with IE6 and it was suggested that another OS be tried.

I took that advice and was going to try Mozilla but when I hit the download button...IE6 crashed again!

Can anyone help me please!

:)

Thanks...

My problem (the problem you referred to) was with ie6 was its inability to work properly with Windows 98. (It works OK with Windows 98 se, but not with the earlier version - lots of crashes.) And I couldn't go back to i.e.5.5 because I had thrown away the disk.

If you have a copy of i.e.5.5 then try that instead of version 6. Mozilla is not an operating system, it's a browser like explorer.

Well I've downloaded Mozilla and using right now! I'll let you know how it goes in a day or too.

The error message I was getting with IE6 was... "Microsoft IE has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for inconveniencing you.....blah blah blah" then it gave the option of sending a report to them or not. But never comes back with what's wrong with it. Does give a detail about the error but it's so darn long and me not being a pc guru, can't make heads or tails of it! LOL!!

But I'll give Mozilla a try now and see how I go!

Thanks for the replies!

I had the same exact problem on my old PC with Windows 98SE. I used Netscape 7 which we are told is the same as MOzilla. Didn't have problems other than shutdowns once in a while when too many applications are running (and that Nescape is slow) I like these newer versions of netscape because you can open a new window without starting a new version of the browser. The only reason I still use IE is because you can put google bar, yahoo bar, dictionary bar, etc on it.

But I heard that Opera is much lighter, never used it myself.

opera can be limited, i use it, but dont worry, for java apps u need sun pluggin, and for some flash, theres nothing you can do... also. opera has its own popup blocker, so go into settings and make sure all thats squered out and fine tne it all up,, it should run pretty smothe.. good think with opera, it starts from where u leav off, even if there is a crash.. oh oh.. and anytime i use sun pluggin for java, opera crashes when i close it, but runs it fine during the session..
