What If?

Also i know lotsa people that get married and have 2 kids before they are 17 so they dont go to banak, and people fake being insane not to go... something really sucks about it,, i dont know why though...

or, like many who choose to avoid banak, they continue their education until 27.

an excellent choice, imo

hmmm... actually, I think it was the same situation in Lebanon, where people who went and returned had become kinda crazy.. I haven't heard of any deaths though.. is there no international human rights group that looks into those things? i mean if YOU know it, THEY must know it too, no? I don't know.. it's a sad situation, really..

What if the entire Armenian Diaspera migrated back to Armenia?

I wouldnt go back. Considering Id never survive there, not knowing the lifestyle and language dynamics too well. I'd help however by sending goods not money, since the political leaders will buy 1995 body s500s

believe $2000 will do the trick as well.

Nope, 2000 bucks is too little, it takes around 5 or 7, depends on your connections..

or i guess 2 grand if you know someone really close that is in position to help..

Yep continuing education is good choice, but remember for the poor people of armenia, educatin is too expensive, and the system is corrupt with education also, its not how smart you are anymore (for veryt few instances this works) but its how much you are willing to "bribe".. its sad ofcourse,, i know the dumbest people getting enrolled, but very smart kids are rejected, because they dont pay as much, or at all... Kids from the "towns" are usually less likely to get in. as people are porrer there..

Dan, your right it is very sad, and yes ofcourse there is people that recognize the situation, except either they are threatened (or killed) or they are bribed, and you can trace everything back to the main control arm of the government....

So shouting from across the Atlantic will really make the Mafiosos scared?

The corrupt government, granted their is one, is not really intimidated...they figure if people outside of Armenia do not want to come back then why bother? Right?

So let me ask this community WHAT IF you are forced to migrate from America, Europe, Russia, Canada, and etc...what about then...where will you go? Let me make it more complex...where will you go if by that time Armenia does not exist?

vigil, you are bringing up a sad almost reality... i agree with you but i cant really answer where i would go if Armenia doesnt exist.. so we must fight for its existance,,, even if we are here in America.. I love my homeland i will go back to fight against the "enemy" if it is neccessary to keep armenia alive, i hope most you guuys would to. I only live in Armenia my first 4 years of life, but i feel that there is an attachment, and i will go back to tour soon,, i was trying earlier to get a student visa and do that student transfer thingy,, but they dont have one available for Armenia....

Id go live on some Carribbean Island honestly. Chill in my patio with a beach view. Smoke cigars and drink mango pina coladas all day long. Bone the mrs a few times here and there. At nights set up a havock smoke another cigar, set up a little bbq for some greek steak kebabs. While I have my fishing pole cast. And thats that!!!!

I'd like to see who would like to argue on that. unless you really really like the city life. I suggest you go see a shrink, Because I did!

Probably there wouldn`t be anough space for everybody but I think it`s the dream of every Armenian to live in Armenia. But I think that "hayreniqin veradarc" should not be done in one day but slowly, the country needs to prepare everything so day can welcom everyone in normal conditions. ASTVATZ TA VOR AJDPES OR LINI!

i agree with most of your statements , and Davos ;) You are right, it wont be enough space for everyone.

But then we have forgot wester armenia. Im not couting it but I think that we should. :P Anyhow, its every armenians homeland and we should all strive to make it a better place so we can go and live there. Of course you can't just move from a country you lived all your life in , to armenia , where there is no jobs and not all the things we take for granted here like electrity and water & more. . .

But dont worry.. .Ill get rich and move to armenia, pieace of cake :alucard:

  • 4 weeks later...

Hey I did it, I grew up in North America, lived there all my life and now I live in Armenia. I've been here for about 2 years. :D

Sadly I see a lot of problems that need to be figured out.

As far as Hayastantsis and Diaspora mixing, it isn't always easy. Yes we are all stubborn, I agree. But everyone comes here with different plans.

Sure people are leaving all the time, but the sad reality is that there are Hayastantsis that have decent jobs and yet are not satisfied and want to leave.

A lot of work has to be done, especially on peoples ways of thinking.

I say ONLY THE DIASPORA ARMENIANS THAT HAVE ANYTHING GOOD TO OFFER ( I dont necessarily mean monetarily) COME AND BE A GOOD INFLUENCE.

It's really pathetic to see so many Lebanese and Syrian Armenians here that just mock and mock and mock Hayastantsis.

People need to come here and understand what these people have been through. 70 years of a mentality that is of no use to them now. Most are clueless. So imagine these ignorant Diaspora Armenians (I mean the ignorant ones, I didnt say all Diaspora are ignorant) coming here and judging all of them.

Thanks Vigil.

Though I'm not a rich businessman providing jobs for locals, I just hope to set a positive example.

I always talk to people who want to move here and I give them advice from my experiences, and almost every week I talk to numerous locals and give them my honest views of what it's like to live and WORK WORK WORK in North America.

The corruption was always a part of that society. Even in old "good" times only people with the connections snd money got to the prestigious medical school, university (some faculties), polytechnic institute (also some faculties).

So it is not something new. The sad thing about this that it is spreading, as oppose to become less acceptable.

But, I thing it has a lot to do with the economical situation in the country (i am talking about present times), and inability of most educated people to support their families, relatives etc. They don't have too many choices: take money, leave the country. Those who don't have enough money or support to leave the country, they will taka the money. It is very difficult to blame that kind people.

I have a nice story for you how my wife(and many other young Armenian and non-Armenian kids) is suffering in her cello lessons by the hands of Hayastanzis music tutors who control the lebanese national music Institute here ,and their only obssesion which is:not to prepare any musiciens who can menace their posts and eventually their "business"in the future.you cant imagine the kind of Stalinistic tactics they are employing to achieve their goals..we are just naive souls..

But I will pass on the story for now...

Still we are planing to visit Yerevan this summer for the first time in our lives.

Have a good day

Is the goal world domination? :D

And this would be different from what the Jewish media moguls like Milchan or Geffen are doing?

Example...

Arnon Milchan

"Tel Aviv-born movie mogul behind Pretty Woman and L.A. Confidential, founded New Regency Productions in 1991. The former biochemistry student turned family's fledgling fertilizer company into a multimillion-dollar chemicals business. Parlayed that into a role as an arms dealer for Israel, the subject of a 60 Minutes interview. (Milchan denies he was an arms dealer, but admits to being intermediary between Israel and defense contractors.) In 1980s bankrolled films for Martin Scorsese. Among his friends: Shimon Peres, Rupert Murdoch and Robert De Niro."

Arnon Milchan basically bankrolls Israel with American dollars and does a little arms deal on the side, but yet no one is questioning his actions.

Also hes the one who financially supported Martin Scorsesemade. It is important to keep this in mind due to the recent "anti-semetic" comments made about Mel Gibson's movie. The movie "The Last Temptation of Christ", which was a Scorsese made flick, had a sexual scene with Jesus. Historically this is not been proven and never will be, but how come they still allowed the movie to be made and actually financed it? How come its ok for them to degrade Christian scriptures, but when Mel Gibson actually makes a movie that is based on historical fact it is considered foul play?

What African-Americans are doing with the hip-hop industry?

What Asians are doing with University enrollment?

What Americans are doing with technology?

Why is it that when Armenians try to monopolize an industry people try to bring them down?

Instead of working against them try to work with them and stop looking down on Armenians from Armenia with a bourgeoisie attitude. They have been through enough and went from being the pinnacle of Soviet society to a developing nation. They died for there Armenia when others were living well abroad. In fact if it was not for the "Hayastanzis", which you rudely portrayed, there would be no Yerevan today to visit. Instead it would already be overrun and Armenians would be Turkified. You would now be asking yourself how it came to this point where I do not have a country of origin or a home.

The point of this thread was to ask people to stop and think about the reality of the situation. Armenians abroad want the conditions in Armenia to improve, but how can it improve if no one is willing to sacrifice themselves? How can you ask the government for straight answers if they do not have to answer to no one? Like I said before the only way to regenerate Armenia is through the investment of time, capital, and resources other then that its a lost cause.

vigil,

i can see that you are fond of jewish model of doing things!!!...

you missed the entire point of what i said..i dont see the need to reply..cause i will not be lured into giving ugly details here or anyewhere else that will tarnish the Hayastanzis reputation any further..so i will bite on my wounds..

-sure we tryed to to assist them first to descover what was wrong ,but every inquery was returned with suspicion, besides, many people were involved in this including unsetisfied local Arabs , for example:(the tutors would stay back at home at least for 3 months on the excuse of an accident or sick leave, while the student and parents saw them in the Beirut Malls shopping!!).

-dont try to jump up into hasty conclusions:I didnt mean an Administartion control, which is way above their ability, both of their manner conduct or language limitations, but what I meant the control of poor students, example:(doesnt show up on the schedueld one hour per weak period,or coming too late..so on,which pupose is to give them $30 per hour private lessons)

-Neither you think they have created a worldwide mafia here !!,as they hate each other like hell and compete among each other for the good fish(remember $30!!).ofcourse what we do is to cover up them(no it wasnt she the one you saw at the Mall,we just visited her at her house yesterday and she was still in pain!!)

-why should we try to destroy them?I and my wife we already sent substential amount of money(within our limtis of course)for Karapakh cause,

but the way they are acting sure they are causing their own destruction hence our reputation here in Lebanon.we have an open society things come into open fast.

keep the good work
