I believe it was ABC but it could also have been on NBC. She said that originally "papa don't preach" was about the incest that took place between the father and the daughter which resulted in her getting pregnant. I don't know how much of this was originally on her mind, but that's what Madonna herself said in the interview if my memory serves me right. However, everything points to the fact that her father doesn't like the guy she's with, and that's why she's begging her father to support her in her choice. I'd like to see the interview though. Was she detailed in her analysis? If I remember correctly, the song caused a big deal when it came out as it was anyway. I am trying to find details of that interview on the web but no luck. I know I didn't imagine it as it was a pretty shocking statement to me ... I certainly had never realized that that may be a possible scenario in that song. She didn't go into too much detail other than mentioning that the father may have been the father of the child. I am going to try to find her exact words ... but so far, no luck.
