Paris 2024: Elmira Karapetyan joins Olympic torch relay

 

Armenian national shooting team leader Elmira Karapetyan took part in the Olympic Torch Relay. 

The bronze medalist of the European Championship, vice-champion of the European Games, World Cup winner took part in the Olympic Torch Relay in Villiers-Couture on July 17.

The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11. Armenia will be represented by 15 athletes at the Olympic Games.

Armenian shooter joins Olympic torch relay

Armenian shooter Elmira Karapetyan has joined the Olympic torch relay in Paris, the Armenian Shooting Federation reported on Wednesday.

Earlier, superheavyweight boxer Davit Chaloyan was named Armenia’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 26.

The Armenian Olympic team also includes gymnasts Artur Davtyan and Vahagn Davtyan, Greco-Roman wrestlers Artur Aleksanyan, Malkhas Amoyan, Slavik Galstyan, freestyle wrestlers Arsen Harutyunyan and Vazgen Tevanyan, weightlifters Andranik Karapetyan, Garik Karapetyan and Varazdat Lalayan, swimmers Varsenik Manucharyan and Artur Barseghyan and athlete Yervand Mkrtchyan.

Olympics 2024: Armenian boxer Davit Chaloyan beats Great Britain’s Delicious Orie, makes it to quarter-finals

 

Armenian boxer Davit Chaloyan defeated Great Britain’s Delicious Orie 3-2 in a split decision in the men’s super heavyweight (92 kg) round of 16, advancing to the quarter-finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Chaloyan was Armenia’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony in Paris.
Armenia is represented at the 2024 Olympic Games by 15 athletes.
On Sunday, gymnasts Artur Davtyan and Vahagn Davtyan qualified for the August 4 finals. Unfortunately, swimmer Varsenik Manucharyan and shooter Elmira Karapetyan failed to qualify.

Armenia’s Artur Davtyan won a silver medal at the Paris Summer Olympics on Sunday, marking the first medal earned by Team Armenia.

Artur Davtyan scored 14.966 points in the sum of two jumps in the pole vault event.

The Armenia gymnast is a bronze medalist of the Tokyo Olympic Games, world champion, two-time European champion, and three-time world cup winner.

France’s Ambassador to Armenia, Olivier Decotigny, congratulated Armenia on winning the first medal at the Paris Olympic Games.

“Congratulations to gymnast Artur Davtyan, who won Armenia’s first medal,” he said in a post on X.

Armenia’s Olympic gold, silver and bronze medalist, four-time world champion, seven-time European champion Artur Aleksanyan has reached the quarterfinals of the Men's Greco-Roman Wrestling competition at the Paris Olympic Games.

In the Round of 16 of the 97kg category, Aleksanyan defeated Kim Seungjun (South Korea)—the 2014 World Youth Championships silver medalist, 2017 Asian Championships silver medalist, 2021 Asian Championships silver medalist, and 2024 Asian zone Olympic ranking tournament winner—ahead of time, by a score of 9-0 

Artur Aleksanyan's opponent in the quarterfinals will be Rustam Assakalov (Uzbekistan), world silver and bronze medalist, Asian Games champion, and three-time champion of Asia.

PARIS, AUGUST 6, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s Artur Aleksanyan has defeated 9:0 South Korea’s Seungjun Kim at the Paris 2024 Olympics Men’s Greco-Roman Wrestling 97kg 1/8 finals.

The ¼ finals  and semi-finals will take place August 6, while the finals are set for August 7.

Armenia’s Malkhas Amoyan (77 kg) won a bronze medal in Men’s Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2024 Paris Olympics by defeating Uzbekistan’s Aram Vardanyan 5-6, an Uzbek wrestler of Armenian descent.
Amoyan’s determination and skill were on full display as he battled to this well-deserved victory. On his road to bronze, Amoyan defeated Finland’s Jonni Kunnari Sarkkinen 8-0 in the round of 16 and Iran’s Amin Kaviyaninejad 3-0 in the quarterfinals, before facing a tough match against Japan’s Nao Kusaka, where he lost 3-1 in the semifinals.
This bronze medal add another prestigious accolade to his impressive career, which already includes being a World Champion (2021, Oslo) and a three-time European Champion (2022, Budapest; 2024, Bucharest). He has also won silver medals at the European Wrestling Championships (2021, Warsaw) and the Individual Wrestling World Cup (2020, Belgrade). Armenia’s Slavik Galstyan (67 kg) faced a tough match against Iran’s Saeid Esmaeili Leivesi, losing 10-4 in the semifinals of Men’s Greco-Roman wrestling at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Galstyan’s journey included victories over France’s Mamadassa Sylla (3-2) in the quarterfinals and Ecuador’s Andrés Montaño (3-2) in the round of 16.
He will now compete for the bronze medal.
