HyEpRoFiLe
hi,forum. i would like to know more about Vache Hovsepyan. in fact,i know almost notning of him-only that hi was 1 of the best duduk players. about his recordings-theonly record i have consists of 10 pieces, which was taken down from an old record. did he make any other recodings at all ? maman vatche hovsepian is really a mystery to anyone who hasn't heard about him through relatives that knew more about him!!! i've always wanted to learn his background as well, but there's nothing on the web about him!!! actually, the only thing i know is that besides his first posthumous cd release "duduk" (which is, as you said, a compilation of remastered tracks from his early vinyl recordings), he has a very rare second cd which many people are looking for... let us know if you ever come across it, as it is in a top spot on many people's want lists!!! Sasun
Vache Hovsepian is far greater than Jivan Gasparyan and other duduk players. I have a CD of him but am not sure which one it is (there is no title, its a copy from another CD with song names only). A while ago I put some works on Kazaa. His duduk is completely a different thing. After you listen to Vache Hovsepian all other duduk players seem like amateurs. Well, that's my personal impression, I am not a musician or anything

HyEpRoFiLe
Maman ;0 thats not Vache Hovsepyan actually, the vatche that you reffer to is vatche mgrditchian, armenian pop singer from greece, the same one who sang along with nuné yesayan in the "khantod gin@ yev ir anmegh amusin@"... ArmMusic
Vache Hovsepian is far greater than Jivan Gasparyan and other duduk players I agree with you Sasun. But there is something that I always thought was really beautiful about the duduk players, there is an unwritten seniority system, where Djuvan will always be the "USTA" (the Master) as long as he's alive, and so on and so on... It is perhaps the only musical instrument in our culture that has that. I think that is really beautiful because it shows humility and respect...
