The reason is first their lead vocal (female) has an incredible voice (one of the best I have ever heard). Second, their lyrics are very well put together and do convey a message. Their music is dark rock mixed at times with ballads and melodic things (such as one of their tracks where there is a piano melody accompanying everything else). I don't know about their rollover bass frequencies but I have been able to set my low-pass in the blazer such that the low end just HITS very hard and very crisp. The top end is also pretty clear but I do get some strange resonnances sometimes which I think is due to my againg 4x6 inch component plates ... but nothing a bit of equalizing doesn't fix. There is one particular track on their Fallen CD that will make my hair stand up every time when the volume is set just right. Perfect lows, perfect mids, perfect highs and the melody just takes you over.This is very detailed! Thank you. It seems that you have certain points in music production that you appreciate. Lead singer's voice (female) has to be captivating. Melodic andlyrical content have be convey meaningful messages, and the balance in frequency output has to be even and crisp... However, let me ask you a personal question: If you hear old music recordings with low quality sonic output, shrieking vocal tone, rumbling rhythm section, and so on, are you able to pick out the beauty of the song, or do you not see the point in it? Sure do! There is ONE CD in my car's deck ... that CD contains over a hundred mp3s ... a bunch of old Harut songs from the 70's and 80's that I cannot get enough of. Several American country tracks including Garth Brooks and Tobie Kieth ... I like all of these mainly due to the fact that their songs speak to me. I understand what they are saying and I can sing along. Then a few hip hop and rap tracks ... eminem being the main guy there. Several Top ten of Rabiz hits ... I love them due to their hillarious nature. I love cleverly done hillarious songs. A few Metallica tracks (old ones such as unforgiven and one) as they also tend to make my hair stand up. So I wouldn't say it's purely on how things sound although pretty much anything can be made to sound good in my blazer with enough fine tuning. Plus you can't beat the acoustics of an enclosed egg-shaped SUV ... it's as if I am sitting inside an orchestra hall!!!! Oh and I also love Jesse Cook ... he is mainly instrumental guitar with a latin beat to his songs. Very appropriate for long distance driving. I had in mind REALLY old tracks during an era where the concept of "production" did not even exist yet.... That's a touchy subject though. "Top Ten Rabiz" are exploiters of a relatively uneducated consensus in Armenia and expatriates, and it is unfortunate that by uneducated, I don't necessarily mean "schooling" but traditional inheritance. That's another touchy subject. The overall "genre" of "Rabiz," ah, that's another not so simple topic as well. Coming from a background of classical listeners that naturally saw Tigranian's Anoush and Tatoul Altounian's Ensemble as the highpoint of Armenian culture, I have had a very difficult time reconciling with the "rabiz" scene, but, after many years of research (since I am a musicologist and composer by training, and the curiosity always go the better of me), I found some interesting stuff about the "Rabiz" culture... Although it is unfortunately very detached (but fortunately less so as time passes) from Komitas' work (which is, in essence, a tremendous effort to preserve the folk setting that the very same proponents of [most of] "rabizdom" hail from), it is our modern folk genre (in its base definition of "people's culture") ... but in a quirky way. It is a salvage culture, in a sense, that seeks our roots in different and unexpected ways. More on that, perhaps, on a separate topic. That's another touchy subject.I LOVE those series! I think they are extremely talented bunch, putting together some very cleverly orchestrated "comic" spoofs. On the same token, I am actually one of those who likes Wierd Al Yankovic! I think the guy has a tremendous IQ an talent level as making fun of extisting genres and works by being able understand, recognize, and pick out distinctively unique features is a sign of intellect!
