khodja
Martin, I suggest you move yourself, "lock, stock and barrel" to Ankara and join the Institute of Armenian Research, which is housed there. The Turks would just love to have you as an ally in there masive misinformation campaign.
MJ
Dear Khodja, My lunch break is over. Will be brief. I can assure you that many sides would like to have me as an ally in any campaign they may need to unbundled – whether Armenians, Russians, Jews, Turks or anyone else. Does anyone want to have you as an ally or does everyone want to distance himself/herself as far as possible from you? You don’t need to answer – it was a rhetoric question with an answer known in advance.
khodja
To paraphrase Barry Goldwater, I would greatly like the United States to be cut at the Mason-Dixon line and for the US South to drift out to sea and sink in the ocean. Better yet, when Saddam sends his atomic bomb to the US I hope that he sends it to a location in the South, preferably YOUR community in Georgia. You conservative Armenians continue to make a mess out of the future of our nation and the Diaspora. As Baliozian says 85% of Armenians in the Diaspora assimilate and soon disappear. As for the ROA, it is mainly allied with rogue states. Your comments to others in this forum sometimes are as insulting as your comments to me. It is your personality flaw. While Hagarag's anger is (by now) expected and understandable, his apparent enthusiasm for the wholesale genocide of a region populated by "undesirables" is "surprising", considering his stated feelings about such matters. Talat would be proud; except that he wouldn't want to lose the territory. Tsk tsk.

Twilight Bark
quote:Originally posted by THOTH:What a worthless thread...It is certainly not one of the most informative ones we have had. Whatever is going on between Hagarag and MJ, it is by now obviously "personal". But, despite the tongue-in-cheek tone of my post, I was dead serious in reminding Hagarag that one has to consider the morality of what they wish for (even figuratively), even if they may be rightly angry. If Hagarag truly wishes such things when he is angered, his otherwise reasonable positions (he does have a few of them every now and then) would be completely negated due to self-inconsistency (not to call it hypocrisy). Now that message is not devoid of value, is it? My friendly advice to MJ and Hagarag is to ignore each other completely. That shouldn't be too hard. MJ
Dear TB, With all due respect, I have to tell you that I resent your contention of “Hagarag and MJ having something personal going on.” Where did you get that from? What possibly you think I can have personal or cannot share with Khodja? If you were to say that my original comment towards him in this thread was uncalled for, you might’ve been right given that he was raising a valid issue, which I didn’t expect at the time. But like in the story about the boy ‘crying wolf’ repeatedly, who do you blame for it?

What possibly you think I can have personal or cannot share with Khodja? I did not use the term "personal" to mean "private", if that's what you resent. Obviously you enjoy playing him, and he resents you intensely. Your mutual dislike is noted. Fine. Now please let's not drag it on. I will not re-elaborate on what I think of many of Hagarag's posts, or what I think they reflect about him. And you know that I respect your opinions, even when I disgree with them. All I am saying is that using this forum to torment each other is not a good idea at all. quote:If you were to say that my original comment towards him in this thread was uncalled for, you might’ve been right given that he was raising a valid issue, which I didn’t expect at the time. That too. The issue raised was not so original at this point, but such things are usually punished by indifference, and not by sarcastic posts meant to torment an already troubled man. quote:But like in the story about the boy ‘crying wolf’ repeatedly, who do you blame for it?I am not blaming anyone. And it would have no consequences if I did. In this context, my wish is that, after a certain period of getting acquainted, we let one another be. MJ
No. I simply meant personal. I can have private conversations here, too, but only with the people of good will. I can sympathize a troubled man all you want. However, this forum is a special place in some ways - this is the only more or less functional Armenian online forum. Many troubled en have come here and gone, but this forum still functions - in relative terms at least. For this reason, I think it would be useful in the future too to occasionally point the troubled where do they belong to. As far as you disagreeing with me, however respecting my opinions is concerned, I couldn’t follow where did that one come from.
THOTH
I second TB's comments - right on the mark/always impressive - as usual. Don't worry MJ - there will always be legitimate times to bash hagarag (and like most of his type [not saying all bad mind you - not at all - in fact i agree with his points being made quite often] they tend to do more self-inflicted damage then can be done to them by an outside party. And really MJ - belaboring the issue so really makes you look mean (and just well - bored or something) - can't be that bad can it?
MJ
Thoth, I don’t worry about it. Additionally, I am not “bashing” him when “ i agree with his points being made quite often.” Nor I am “bashing” him when I disagree with his points. There are a lot of points made in this forum that I disagree with, but I speak only on some of them. Now, on the subject of me “looking mean,” if that was of concern to me, perhaps I would have done a lot of things differently. However, I don't particularly think that I am here for a beauty contest. Twilight Bark
quote:Originally posted by MJ:... this forum is a special place in some ways - this is the only more or less functional Armenian online forum. Agreed wholeheartedly. However, our attempts to explain why that has been the case might diverge somewhat. quote: Many troubled en have come here and gone, but this forum still functions - in relative terms at least. Yes. But our explanations for that success might diverge. quote:For this reason, I think it would be useful in the future too to occasionally point the troubled where do they belong to. Internet history is littered with the carcasses of forums where members tried a little too hard to shove one another off the platform. quote:As far as you disagreeing with me, however respecting my opinions is concerned, I couldn’t follow where did that one come from. The above was written in combination with my oft-expressed reservations about Hagarag's often unfortunate comments and style. It means that you have a lot more capital with me than Hagarag does. It means that, when I see an article bearing your name, I look forward to reading something thoughtful and intelligent. It means that I approach what you write with a "positive prejudice". If I am animated to mildly criticize what you wrote, it is despite my "positive prejudice", and because of my high expectations from you. That was the relevance of that little sentence. Now, Hagarag is (chronologically at least) a grown-up man. He can defend himself in any way he sees fit. And I certainly did not mean to turn this thread into a sorry saga. Anyway, I hope we can now go back to our regular programming.
