I took this pic in the Anza Borrego area (east of San Diego) while wheeling. I was just walking around and happened to turn around and there was this ... right in front of me! Quite an odd contrast in the middle of nothingness.

Same area ... what I find fascinating here is the completely different land formations on each side of the canyon. That's where the earth is changing!!! These two different plates are just pushing against each other. Very fasinating when you stand in the middle and on one side you have clay and the other side rock.

Thanks guys .. Interestingly enough, I didn't start appreciating that picture myself till much later after looking at it many times. I usually take lots of pictures and rely on the law of probabilities to get "interesting" shots!

Needless to say, that particular trip was one of the most memorable. Vava, you'd be surprised to learn HOW much fun I had that day. I have been to the place several times under varying weather conditions and that one was the best ... you will not see that area so wet too often. They don't get any rain usually. So that was a once in a life time deal I guess! By the way, it is "Soggy Dry Lake" close to Barstow which is half-way between LA and Vegas. It's quite a bit "out there" though.

These 3 pictures can give you a panoramic idea of what the "dry lake" looks like. That is taken from the top of one of the nearby hills. The size of that RV will give you an idea of the scale.

And this will give you an idea of what it looks like on a normal day

Interestingly enough, same day we were going to head into the mountains for some fun but got caught in a BIG surprise snow storm. I have video of it ... we are in shorts and t-shirts and it's snowing like I've never seen before (here's a look at my buddy helping someone out ... notice the guy is also in shorts)... it all happened in a matter of minutes. So we turned around, headed down the hill (the other side of Los Angeles) towards the desert. This is probably less than 40 miles from that snow! What a difference!!!!!! But I have to say camping that night in the desert wasn't fun. I didn't sleep much and the winds were just a KILLER. :(

Anyway, I don't want to turn this into an offroading thread ... just wanted to share some of the digital photos :)

These two pics were taken by a buddy of mine in Baja, Mexico around New Years last year .... that lucky dog!!!! No alterations involved other than resizing and compressing as far as I know.
