Sip
But do you realize, today is yesterday's tomorrow and will be tomorrow's yesterday? So I think if you ask our dear member Domino McFarti (not sure what his name is today), he will be able to prove to you that any day is history, mistery, and a gift all at the same time!!!! Now how about dem apples? Welcome to the board by the way.

DominO123
yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mistery, today is a Gift - thats why it's called present... I do agree with Seaphan(in fact, more particulary, I agree with what he thinks I think, so I agree with the myself that Seaphan thinks as myself. ) Yesterday does not exist, tomorrow does not exist either, and the present is the equilibratum of those two non-existing entities. Time is just a measure of the conscience in a changing Quantum States. OK ! OK ! Before you run away from this forum because of me. Your quote is beautiful, consider my answer to you as an inniciation that each members have to face when registering here, the Domino in now your new Universe... just jockimg, that was the second inniciation. Welcome unboard. (your third inniciation would be to count how many smilies is in my post, a wrong answer will result your banning from this board <----(the forth inniciation would be to laugh at the 3rd one, because it was a joke ) Edited July 12, 2003 by Fadix
Aya
Domino you just made me frightened thanks for warm welcome Btw i think that yesterday does exists.. tomorrow also exists.. its just that you you cant change yesterday but you cant create tomorrow... I disagree, yesterday is always changed, like the future that could be changed as well, the change you do not realise because a change of yesterday change the informations your brain recodred, change the world in itself, so this change is not apparent. The past and future are subject to change, the only difference is that you don;t realise the change of the past, because you change with that change and because you have changed the same way as this change, you don't realise this change. vava
On another note - I think the Turks have proven that 'yesterday' CAN indeed be 'changed', much to our collective dismay.

Aya
Well Azat, I am not God.. i have no idea what is going to happen even in 5mins. But still i believe that tomorrow already exists, we are just not capable to understand with our mind...

Consider this, and I dare you to prove me wrong. Tomorrow is an entity that can never be reached, it is like a limit in math, you can come near and near to it and once you are very very near to it that limit changes places, now the tomorrow becomes a today, so it is not a tomorrow anymore. Tomorrow then can not exist, it only is a referencial for your conscience. Tomorrow can not exist because time does not exist. There is undifferentiated spirit which is both conscious and unconscious. In order to become conscious it has to reflect, and that creates time. This is a beautiful quote by Fred Alan Wolf(Physicist) In fact, the only reason we think time exist is because we are conscious and we self reflect and interact with our sens and our environment. Thosefor neither past or neither future exist, since both does not exist present that is the equilibrum of the past and future, a limit itself can not exist. Tomorrow is a statistical possibility, a statistical possibility that is restricted to few possibilities among many others because of the statistical possibilities that the conscience has already chosen to creat time, and those that it already has chosen are called past, and both the others to come are just a process of the self-reflectivness that creats the phenomenology of time. Time exist because the observer exist in a universe to be observed. So finally, because of that, neither tomorrow exist, neither yesterday exist, they are just virtual entities an illusion a phenomenen of conscience. Suppose I am going to PUNCH you tomorrow.Suppose I buy a ticket tomorrow and fly out to where you are.Suppose that then, I punch you really hard.Given fact: When I PUNCH you, you will know it immediately. That's when it will be tomorrow. Proof: Do you really want me to fly out to punch you? I already owe you another punch to check to see if you exist (from the other thread) This by the way, is called "proof by intimidation" and it usually works great. Much better than "proof by guestimation", "proof by approximation", and "proof by assumption". -QED
DominO123
I just reread what I wrote, I don't understand myself. I have a simple analogy, if you ever have done Flash movies, there are symbols you creat, for example a cercle you save a symbol, then when you move this cercle and this movement is keeped in different frames, Flash record the movement into a mathematical founction and only save the cercle once, for example if the cercle takes 2 kb, and that the movement is in 20 frames, it will not use 2 Kb on each frames, everytime the cercle is used, it will just use 2 kb for the cercle once, and the movement that is keeped on a ceries of mathematical founction is applied to that cercle. I see time as that, a kind of series of mathematical founctions that exist because of the existance of conscience, the object exist once that the mathematical founction is applied to it, a direct relation between the observer(conscience) and the thing to be observed, that is of course the environment that the observer is part of. Now, the statistical possibilities of the possible future are different mathematical founctions, and depending of the observer, will be used etc... Before you punch me, this punching is a possibility, just a statistical possibility, based on the environment which you are part of as the observer, I will decide if this possibility is statistically significant and act based on that. Tonight, I have to think about the relation between all the self-reflectivnesses... and think if those dreams I have have anything to do with it. Sip
I still would prefer to punch you though Just for fun!!! I think I understood what you are tying to say ... you were using an example from animation in flash but that is a form of compression (also coding theory). Basically in other words, the "next" state depends on (i.e. is a function of) the current state. If you take an mpeg movie for example, you have an I-frame which is a FULL frame ... but then the rest of the frames can come as B-frames which are basically the "difference" between the current frame and the previous frame ... meaning incremental changes. This type of compression works great for movies with little action ... like when the scene is fairly still and only small parts change. The other example is from arithmetic coding (like Huffman coding) or dictionary based compressions (lempel ziv etc). But I think in this case, those "mathematical" functions which you are talking about which relate one state to the next are very well defined ... they are the PHYSICAL LAWS that we observe! So now the question that arises is that ... is there any free will or is everything deterministic? In other words, is the next state of the universe (for example tomorrow) going to be the same no matter what, or does it depend on what we "choose". That, I think is a VERY hard question to answer. DominO123
You got what I think, but there is still another part. If you want to compare it to a movie, the future sequence in the movie depend on the sequence before, and the before sequence is a kind of independent variable, not in the Domino Universe, in the Domino Universe, the independent variable is the "Present" and both past and future are subject to change. In fact, they will not really change, they are all there, you only choose which past and which future. It sound a contradiction of what I said before, since I said they don't exist, but it is not a contradiction, if you take all those things that will happen, and have happened as statistical possibilities existing as a Universe in its own, time is only a sequence that the observer is conscient of, thosefore, conscience build time. If we were to take frames, lets say in the Editor of Flash, you have layers, in Domino Universe, there are infinit numbers of layers, there is infinit number of layers on the top and bottom of our layer, and our frames are in our layers, but the distinction is that the frame to come is not necessarly in the same layer. For example you have 3 layers(or 3 tracks), you play the first 5 frames of the first layer, and then you can play the frame 6 to 11 of the other layer, now this new sequence would be a layer formed of the first 5 frames of the first layer and then the frames 6-11 of the other one, the third is left untouched. Now, we complexify this more, and we add layers not only on top and bottom, but as well the right and left, forming a very big cube of frames, and the layer we are in is formed based on this virtual present frame, past and future are subject to change based on that. The frames closer to us are the most similar to our Universe and have near identical physical laws... so physical laws are subject to change, the speed of light is subject to change, and this change must take time to take effect and will give the illusion of an expending Universe.
