nairi
I found this poem on AGLA France written by a (lesbian) woman who calls herself Ksjukh. Thought I'd share it with you. Useless In the complex world of the Armenian language the great linguists couldn't even spare a single word for the clitoris (my mother made up a nickname for mine) the word never existed, was never pronounced - it still is a place where many consider a void, an endless enigma, the hidden lump of Semiramis, mysterious in its vanity - something which does not belong anywhere, least of all to the women of Nairi. Sip
WOW! Here's a snip from the script of SouthPark the movie: STAN: [lagging behind] Chef, how do you make a woman like you more than any other guy?CHEF: Oh, that’s easy. You just gotta find the clitoris.STAN: Huh?CHEF: Ooops!STAN: What does that mean, "…find the clitoris"?CHEF: Uh…uh, forget I said anything. Move along, children, you’re holdin’ up the line.STAN: You guys! Do you know where I can find the…"clitoris"?KYLE: The what?CARTMAN: What, is that like finding Jesus, or something? If you haven't seen it ... you have to
hyebruin
this reminds me of a joke!! a husband was claiming what a challenge it was to climax his wife, so he put it like this:"Her little man in the ship is in the galley, and it is my job to bring him out every time"
THOTH
Sorry to change the lite mood - but Nairi's original post made me think of this piece I read in the paper today... http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...ml?nav=hptoc_eo
hyebruin
a little bio lesson for those who are interested/curious: the clitoris is the female equivalent of the penis! yes! it is!! it is made of the same erectile tissue as the male penis and becomes 'erect' with increased blood supply...but unlike the penis it can climax many times sequentially,...so no refractory period as is present in males where they climax once and then it's over while the refractory period lasts (about 10-20 min). and even more interesting is the embryology of these structures which start out looking exactly the SAME!! (called the genital tubercle)...then around (forgot the timeline) when the sexual organs start to develop, if it's male, then the 'clitoris' like structure grows with the help of testosterone /DHT (dihydrotestosterone)...and the lack of these hormones (or the very minute amount present) causes the arrest of further 'penile-like' development followed by the formation of the vagina and the internal organs (uterus, ovaries, ducts)...now, what's interesting is the vaginal folds in the female (major & minor labia) fuse in the male embryo and form the scrotum! ---that's pretty neat and so beautifully orchestrated!--- so, basically we all start out as females and if are XY we proceed to grow the male organs here's something else of interest:according to one theory, the reason the male climax lasts as short as it does is believed to be due to survival...as in prehisotric times our ancestors needed to do it quickly to avoid being attacked by the wolves, bears,...etc. this explains why this phase (climax) is under sympathetic control or more commonly known as 'fight or flight'...whereas erection is under parasympathetic control (the one that dominates most of the time) where we're more relaxed and the body is taking care of its 'housekeeping chores'....this might also explain the early morning erection! --i hope this brings as much appreciation for the human body as it does to me--
Arpa
I found this poem on AGLA France written by a (lesbian) woman who calls herself Ksjukh. Thought I'd share it with you. Useless In the complex world of the Armenian language the great linguists couldn't even spare a single word for the clitoris (my mother made up a nickname for mine) the word never existed, I had totally ignored and forgotten this thread. It seems Ms. Ksjukh is an accomplished poet in her own right and that her name is Shushan Avakian. You may search using "ksjukh" as the keyword. Do read her interview of Arlene Avakian who seems to belong to the same "tribe". WE may learn a bit more about rejection, alienation and assimilation. As to the Armenian word for clitoris, let's go to Amoteni-Anatomy under the Other category and let's have some fun learning. :)
Arpa
I am not sure if this Shushan is the same Shushan aka "ksjukh" since they spell their surnames a little different, i.e. Avakian v Avagyan, yet judging from other sites (AGLA Forum) she does indicate her place of origin as Armnia/USA). It seems like she is a Melkonian alumnus. She sounds very opiniated. Can we invite her here? From Literary Groong of sometime; SONG TO A STRANGER By Shushan Avakian I wish you'd understand my language, words of blossoms tangled up in elegy, but, well, maybe you do? And I wish you knew that the streams of Arax are the vessels of my people and that they bleed once in a while to remind us of our disturbed history, and, well, may be you do, for this is my song to you... I wish you could see mount Ararat, every morning, at dawn, burning for a caress of the native stroke of wind, wrapped in the air so intense, that blinds your mere consciousness and feel the pain of knowing that it'll never belong to you again, but, well, maybe you do? I wish you knew... Shushan Avagyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and has written poetry all of her life. She is currently a fine arts student in America, and writes poetry in both Armenian and English. Her poems are self-expressive and somewhat abstract. Copyright ? 2001 Shushan Avagyan. bellthecat
Her poems are self-expressive and somewhat abstract. Hmmmm ...... does that mean that when she talks about "Ararat" and the "Arax", a big mountain and a meandering river is not what she is talking about. (and if that is the case, I wonder where her "Lake Van" is located! )
nairi
I don't know Arpa. She seems to be focused on women on AGLA. See here for example: http://www.agla.info/site/viewtopic.php?topic=71&forum=2&24 But maybe on the side she writes love poems to Armenia. I don't know.
