i dont beleive we will get it all back but we can make awareness to us and get people on our side. righte now were not doing enouph. the turks killed more armenians and did it in more hideouse ways than the germens did to the jews. yet we cant turn our heads without hearing about the jewish holocaust and nothing about the armenians. we are not doing enouph. the jews used to be as small as us but they had sence enouph to take over the entertainment industry during the 70's while all the americans were getting high. we have to do something about our culture to.

Yes Turkey has a strong army, but if that was all, Armenia would be in no danger whatsoever. It's the Turkish Air Force, that is very dangerous. They have like 150 F-16s and they've all been trained by Jewish pilots since they have a military treaty. In the 21st century air power will rule , even more so than it did in the 20th century. LOOK WHAT HAPPENED TO THE ONCE MIGHTY SOVIET UNION. AND THE MILITARY MIGHT IS BASED ON THE ECONOMY. MEAN WHILE WE THE ARMENIANS MUST STRENGTEN OURSELVES AND WAIT FOR THE NEXT WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY.

Solamita, gishd ess. First, we need all the Armenians in the world to be once more proud of their roots and to finally unite as ONE. Second, we need to organize an enormous migration project; all Armenians of the world back in Armenia. Third, help rebuild our beautiful homeland economicaly, politicaly and militairly. Only then will it even be possible to think having our lands back!

Let's not forget also the Kurds, even the Assyirians who have lost their lands completely. Arranging a union with these neighbors will be a good bargain. Armenians on the rise!

I agree!

Why don't we do the same thing as the Jews??

They all came to a desert with a whole bunch of angry Arabs, and now their coutry is a real world power!!!!

i would like all Armenians to come back home!!

Exactly! Armenia is our home! Sometimes I tell myself that I belong there! I know there is nothing and it's empty; I want to be one of the many builders of the new Armenia.

We have to support eachother! Thanks Nvard.

It really is nice to see that so many armenians living (and probably also born) outside of Armenia have such great entusiasim to help the building process of our newly developing nation. Reading your posts really puts a smile on my face But then I remember exactly how nearly impossible it is to ACT in the manner you wish and actually make changes in that country ... and I frown...

We all want to help. We all have the dream and motivation. Some of us actually get up and do something about it ... but most of us only PLAN to ... but never do That is typical to our character is it not? I do not wish to blame anybody. It takes a great amount of courage to sacrifice your modern life in USA, Canada, Europe or wherever you may be ... and get used to the harsh conditions in Armenia. Yet, there are people who do it and end up loving every moment of it, regardless of the hardships you may face. And as a human being and as an armenian - you feel proud when you help at least ONE person in Armenia. And of course, you mature as a person (and as an armenian) during your stay.

God Bless You All !!!

WELL, see the thing is that i was born in Armenia, and i go there every summer!!!

I know this people and this country very well!!!

Lets say the conditions are not as harsh as you think!

If we keep on thinking that resurecting our WONDERFUL country is impossible, nothing good will happen!!

we have to try to do the best we can!!

i would just LOVE to live in Armenia!!

this is the place to be, even now!!!

any objections??

I KNOW exactly how harsh the conditions are Nvar. I was there last summer. You will see my point if you look at thing not as a tourist but as a resident. Secondly, having dreams is one thing, implementing those dreams is something else. And under the current political regime its extremely hard to get things done. Thirdly, if you would LOVE to live in Armenia, why don't you? Set an example for the rest of us ... since it is the place to be.

Barev Sulamita!

I do see everything as a resident, not a tourist!

My greatparents, uncles, aunt & cousins live there , i live with them and I know the Armenian everyday life!

the problem is that Armenian parents are stuck on the idea that there is no life in Armenia and one day Turkey is gonna come and get it or there's gonna be an earthquake and it's gonna burry our country underground!

A lot of armenians just don't believe in the future of our nation.

i can argue with my parents forever and it won't help!

The future depends on the young armenians , and we should do something about it.

it really looks that the jews are much smarter than us....

Nvard I agree with you 200%! Dreams are the motivation of our actions and the important thing is for the youth to actuallt ACT!

Sulamita, I would live in Armenia but I have to get proper education first to help my nation. I actually want to live there for a year before going to university. You are right that we often talk without acting but that's the past... the new generation of Armenians will act! If only you knew what I would do for my country. I am very optimistic, maybe too much, I don't know. Nvard just gave me more optimism, hope and live towards my people.

Sulamita, it's all about what you're ready to do, making it a personal goal to save your nation.

I hate to say this, but many of you are dreaming if you think that Armenians from the diaspora are going to go back to a third world economy. Armenians are leaving Armenia by the droves (I see them all the time here in Southern California). Its the same as the Jews leaving Israel to emigrate to the U.S. Armenia basically shot itself in the foot in the early nineties. WHat did they immediately do upon gaining independence? Get embroiled in the Karabagh mess instead of building their economy like Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania did, and now those countries have a standard of living that is beginning to approach that of Western Europe. But no, we have to be the typical petty grudgeholders and take out our hatred of the Turks on the Azeris who are basically Persians who speak a Turkish dialect. So I guess we need to hate everyone related to the Turks as well. Why not go to war with Uzbekistan next? Or even Mongolia or Korea as they are distantly related to the Turks by language. Also is Karabagh some prime piece of property? It looks like a pretty depressing area to me. Meanwhile, the Greeks are putting aside their grudges and are signing economic agreements with Turkey. Armenia should have been focusing all this last decade on building an economy that would kick Turkey's ass. WIth all the talent that there is it should have been easy. Living well is the best revenge.

Steve, there is quite some truth in what you say. I must admit that I never looked at it this way, thanks for enlighting me but let the optimistics dreams because it is these dreams which will motivate some of us to fix the errors. Please be more optimistic and help us change the situation. You are not blind, you see what's happening. Instead of telling us that we're doing nothing but dreaming, help.

Dear Raffi

me keech jishtes yep vor asumes "optimistic" betke elnem. I guess maybe because I am a little older (32) I am also a little more practical in my outlook. I do have faith in Armenia, eventually they will get their act together (I hope). I sure am not going to go on the next plane to Yerevan to live, visit maybe. Also I am wondering does Armenia have a Law of Return like Israel does for the Jews? Under that law, I believe, any Jew (or even half-Jew) is allowed to automatically emigrate to Israel and are give financial aid. I doubt Armenia is going to give financial aid, but do they allow Armenians from other countries to freely work or live in Armenia? I am just interested to know this.

Steve,

You have made some good points but you went overboard with the comment about the Azeris. The conflict between Armenians and Azeris is not because of the grudge we are holding against the Turks and it is not ture that anyone associated with them is our enemy. NO. Please, don't forget the massacres of 1988 in Sumgait. Did we ask for that? Again, lets not go to extremes.

As for Nvard and Raffi,

I am happy you have the dream. I do too and I DO beleive in the future of Armenia. But being an economist I am looking at the situation (emotions put aside) and realizing exactly how far we are from being the country that will attract immigration. There is a long long way to go. God help every single one who will help that long process.

Dear Sulamita

I try my best to avoid extremes and to get other Armenians to do the same, because I think it hurts us rather than helps us. Of course I remember the massacres in 88. But the Azeris can point to massacres on the part of Armenians, these are well documented by the United Nations. SO whats the point of all of it? Nothing, just a waste of time and lives on both sides. Both sides should have formed economic unions along with Georgia, much like the Baltic Republics did, then may be we would be somewhere economically rather than in shambles.
