Sip
There is good news for you since there are several popup killers that work pretty well. For a long time, I have been using Popup Killer which seems to work great. You could download updated lists of popups from them and even add your own. However, I just checked their site and it seems to have been discontinued. They recommend you use THIS ONE which seems to be ok but I have never used it. I saw another one called AdsGone. Unfortunately, neither of those is FREE ... I will let you know if I "find" one I usually disable JavaScript on my browsers but sometimes use other browsers (like Opera and Netscape). But using a utility such as these is probably the best way with Explorer. I have found that having a "CLOSE" button on the mouse is usually the easiest way though. I have a 5-button mouse and made one of the buttons close. Anytime one of those stupid things pops up, I just press the button and it's GONE! Also, ALT-F4 helps too. Sip
Good luck!!! I guess you can set a filter which automatically files emails with certain keywords into the trash but I don't know of any good automatic filters ... actually, UCLA does an OK job but even them sometimes crap gets through. By the way, I just installed Popup Dummy. I like it! It was very easy to install and seems to work great. Unfortunately, they only give you a 15-day trial. I'll see what can be done. Azat
The popUp killer from Analogx.com amongst all the other free software that he has is great and it is free. However you have to add the ads on your system manually so the first week or two it is still a little frustrating, however after that it is great. Sip
Well, mos jan ... I don't know about pop-up inventor but this company called ExitExchange filed for the patent for the pop-under types of ads! If they get the patent, they can start charging whoever uses that kind of ads !!!! There was an article in wired recently saying how bad the pop-up type things are for blind people who are trying to surf the net. Can you imagine how complicated life gets for those poor people when all that junk starts popping up and won't go away?

Azat
Check this news story our from Detroit Free Press. ----- MIKE WENDLAND: Internet spammer can't take what he dishes out December 6, 2002 BY MIKE WENDLANDFREE PRESS COLUMNIST West Bloomfield bulk e-mailer Alan Ralsky, who just may be the world's biggest sender of Internet spam, is getting a taste of his own medicine. Ever since I wrote a story on him a couple of weeks ago (www.freep.com/money/tech/mwend22_20021122.htm), he says he's been inundated with ads, catalogs and brochures delivered by the U.S. Postal Service to his brand-new $740,000 home. It's all the result of a well-organized campaign by the anti-spam community, and Ralsky doesn't find it funny. "They've signed me up for every advertising campaign and mailing list there is," he told me. "These people are out of their minds. They're harassing me." That they are. Gleefully. Almost 300 anti-Ralsky posts were made on the Slashdot.org Web site, where the plan was hatched after spam haters posted his address, even an aerial view of his neighborhood. "Several tons of snail mail spam every day might just annoy him as much as his spam annoys me," wrote one of the anti-spammers. Ralsky is indeed annoyed. He says he's asked Bloomfield Hills attorney Robert Harrison to sue the anti-spammers. http://www.freep.com/money/tech/mwend6_20021206.htm

15levels
There is even something worst that spam- say someone uses YOUR email address to send VIRUSES to people. Most of those a**holes cover their trail and the IP of the sender is difficult to trace. One, however, I managed and reported him, his account was shut. But what to do with others? vava
Hi Rouben! Not much you can do about that really - especially since people don't send out viruses using your email on purpose! There are many viruses out there today (like BugBear ) that 'spoof' the senders email address. For example, let's say you have this type of virus. The virus looks takes a look at your address book and from them chooses an email address at random: let's say joe@joe.com, and puts that address in the 'from' field. Then, it sends itself to everyone else in your address book. Now everyone who receives this message, doesn't receive it from you (who actually HAS the virus) but from poor joe, who may actually have a clean system. Of course, of further annoyance to joe, everyone is writing him, to tell him he's got a virus. The solution, although not super efficient, is to rely on everyone to update/patch their system whenever there's a major security flaw. An up to date Anti-virus helps too. 15levels
thanks vava, it helps to understand how it works. i get a lot of blank mails from people, just blank with size of approximately 120k. i delete them immediately but see no file attached. weird. I run firewall on my pc but email viruses are a problem for me, norton antivirus is so heavy, it slows down the performance of the muchine significantly. Guest Fadi
Ad Filter popup-killer is the best I have ever tried, this thing is small of about 750 Kb, and everything is automatic, amazing, I would never believed that such a little goody could even exist.
