khodja
So the Turkish Culture Minister cals the movie "Ararat" shameful. What is shameful is the Turkish authorities perpetuation of the shameful acts of 1880-1923. The Turkish autjhorites should IMMEDIATELY cease and desist from curtailing the repairs and improvements to Armenian churches within Turkey. The Turkish authorities should IMMEDIATELY allow their Kurdish population to celebrate their culture. TUrkish courts should IMMEDIATELY honor the bona-fide deeds of Armenians survivors to landed property within Turkey. THESE SHAMEFUL TURKISH OFFICIALS DARE CALL THIS MOVIE SHAMEFUL? Hyeflyer
I want my fammilies properties returned also.Lets see just only one Armenian recover what is theirs.Lots of F#!KN luck. The rest of the world wishes we would assimilate and go away.We are a quaint and obscure people and culture.A place to see on the travel channel. How nice. Now I know why my Assyrian friend say we are the next obscure peoples. khodja
Assimilation is commomplace. A large number in my family are part-Assyrian, but we have no Assyrian consciousness. We were already assimilated into the Armenians while in Turkey. Now my family is part-Italian, part-Jew and part WASP, but at this stage we still hold Armenian consciousness. If the Armenian culture does not adapt to the times, it will die. We have to get aay form our fuddy-duddy ideologies.
Hyeflyer
HagaragAssimilation can also work in reverse.Example is I have a 18 year old step daughter who I have raised since 4 years. She knows me as her father. She has long blown off her real father. She tries to learn about Armenians and Armenian customes. She tells her mother and I she hopes to some day meet a Armenian man to settle down with and raise a familly.I must have done something right in raising her for her to want to be a Armenian. She also is a hell of a coock and we eat Armenian foods and dinners ect.75 percent of the time.My grand mother taught her to cook when she was 5 1/2.It is strange that my familly never stressed marring a Armenian and they excepted odars as their own children.
