Loreley
Stormy:hi. The thing that I don't like about those love songs is that they always saying things like " My life is over with you, I can't live without you, You were everything in my life." A lot people buy into those songs and feel that their lives are over because of a girlfriend/boyfriend. It is really painful to loose a loved one and it takes a long time to heal, but your life is not over. Especially, if it is a bad relationship, those songs don't help at all. vava
Hiya, quote:Originally posted by Sip:I have continuously been shocked to see how "experts" are continuously ignored in the US. No one seems to listen to the experts! If an expert is saying something that the person agrees with, the person accepts it. But god forbid, if the expert (in whatever field) ends up saying something that "doesn't make sense" or is in some way in conflict with the opinions of the listener, the expert is immediately shot down by a defensive statement like "oh, what the hell does he know" or "yah, whatever". I agree mostly with your post. However I would like to point out that the general public is exposed to most 'experts' and their 'expert' opinions via the same channels - mass media institutions such as radio/TV and to a lesser extent, the internet. These are, coincidently or not, the main avenues of disemmination of their primary entertainment. Just as viewers have learned to embrace or ignore the latest TV sitcoms, they can now take their pick of these 'expert' opinions. After all, it's merely another form of entertainment these days... To compound the problem, the plethora of 'expert' opinions on TV are often in conflict, and sometimes the credibility of some experts themselves seem rather dubious at best. I suppose it's about perception - as long as the general public perceives experts/expert opinions on TV as entertainment, they certainly will not have a high level of respect for them. If we don't treat our experts seriously, how can we expect Joe Everyone to do so?

We are in an age where the majority of pop music is written or performed by pubescent teenagers , That doesn't necessarily instill me with an overwhelming sense of confidence when it comes ot their love/relationship advice. Besides, I think that such exagerations are partially poetic license, non?
