Meet Turkey - as if we didn't already know...

Saddam is an idiot, cruel dictator and the whole World knows that. The question is whether preemptive military strikes, motivated by preemptive, forward, circumstantial, baseless, and generally illegal decisions could cure the illness. Tomorrow we may witness another self-declared "chosen" of God to preempt somebody else, and the World will be messed up again.

The Turks are exposing their dirty laundry for all the world to see. They are on a slippery slope. The future for them will not be as rosy as the past has been. They have been using their past international influence to their advantage, but lately their motives are becoming more naked.

Yes, preemptive strike can cure the problem, as many will witness soon. And it is not based on a baseless and illegal decision. It is based at least on two UN resolutions.

MJ,

I missed the UN resolutions authorizing US to bomb Iraq. The attitude of the US is not much different from the suicide terrorists. After all their attacks were preemptive too.

If I have to spend 50 bln. dollars to solve a problem that would allow me to get 25 bln. dollars, I would simply try to solve the problem by spending 5 bln. dollars. That is my philosophy.

If Saddam's opposition is so fears and willing to topple him, just spend some money on "democracy development projects" and that is it. If there is no opposition at all and if this is a hoax, well Stalin also had no opposition.

I know that you have missed, Gamavor. In the last 12 years, UN has come up with about 17 Resolutions demanding certain things from Iraq. The first of them, I think Resolution 678, has articulated the terms of the ceasefire which Iraq had signed and violated. The Resolution 1441 has articulated “serious consequences” if Iraq dose not immediately and unconditionally comply with the terms of disarmament.

I wouldn’t like to comment on the rest.

MJ, Please don't tell me that the US is bombing Iraq because Iraq has not obeyed 17 UN resolutions. There is a nation in the Middle East that has not obeyed more than 17 UN resolutions and has WMD and all that, but US has turned a blind eye to it, actually they are one of the biggest allies of the US. I am sure you know who I am talking about. i just don't want to mention it because Arpa might kick my ass.

I, just like almost everyone else think Saddam is a fool who has treats his people, his neighbors like hell, but to this day I do not know the real reason why we had to hit iraq. I just hope that it is a short war and end without much death and misery.

i sure do think that so far this has been a SUPERB fought war on behalf of the US. they have done a great job of not killing the innocent and are making the moves that most would not have even predicted. For that I give them a huge thumbs up.

The next question is who is next.

And the question after that is what is the US going to do to gain the love of people of the middle east. We are HATTED. Absolutely hatter. What can the US do to fix it's reputation in the Middle East. I know the answer and I am sure many do, but we don't have the balls to do it. Maybe Bush does, but I am not sure.
