Arpa
quote:Originally posted by Stormy:http://www.idleworm.com/nws/2002/11/iraq2.shtmlVery good Storm!!This item is in the Humor section? It would be funny if it were not scarily true.Had I lived a couple of thousand years ago I would have been labeled a prophet. I said and I wrote then that when the Iron Curtain fell now the Rattan Curtain would rise. The Iron Curtain divided the world into east amd west this new curtain divides it into north and south. The slip is showing already whereas the Iron Curtain kind of kept the west united, it created the likes of NATO, this saga is tearing Europe apart. Nato is on the verge of disintigration, Europe is split at the core.We also remeber when during the Gulf War Saudi Arabia was the main staging theater. We hear nothing from or about them. Turkey is the main stage now. It played some part in the previous fiasco and it was rewarded generously. The latest hitch in this saga is "Turkey's security", so they say. During the last one Turkey got billions in compensation, to me it sounds like this time "Turkey's security" rests not on billions but zillions. Turkey has been playing very cool, they have been "discussing it at the parliament". How many zillions have been promised and how many zillions are being asked, blackmailed, coerced. I only hope that Hussein and the successive Husseins will remember where the fire will come this time around. Husseins ancestors have invaded Asia Minor numerous times all the way from the days of Assyria and the Caliphate of Baghdad. Does history repeat? We hope the above one does. Others in the neighborhood may also remember that during Assyrian times invasions were not limited to the north (Anatolia) but also to the west, the Mediterranean coast. Speaking of the Mediterranean, how come they are not rattling sabers this time? They are not even volunteering participation. The Armenian demonstrations in Feb. of 1988 brought the mighty Soviet Empire to an end, will this saga split NATO once and for all? What will Turkey do without a NATO??? Stormig
I guess sometimes one may not know whether to laugh or to cry. Edit: regarding this thread's placement in the humour section, that is. [ February 18, 2003, 06:38 AM: Message edited by: Stormy ]
