Couple faith to happiness and you have the reason why humanity survive.(faith in happiness)(there is morality as well, but I'll come to that later) Your example as well prove my point, in the sense that faith is present in everything we do, people need to have faith in whatever, some will need to have faith in a superior being. Faith and happiness are universal, and their universality makes it misterious... more a specy evolve more it need to have faith and happiness or it won't survive. Another important thing is morality. Faith, happiness and morality are fundamental for any evolved species, if you don't believe that is misterious, explain me why. If we were to creat an artificial intelligence beside conscienceness those 3 aspects must be present, if one of those 3 lack, this artificial intelligence is bound to disapear. First of all having a turkey react to food is not religion. It's called deed-for-reward. You do it with animals and little children. One cannot have religion without the ability to think about the world around them and having the need for an explanation for that. Second, you said that "the reason why religion exists is mysterious" not "the way religion influences society is mysterious". Third, you give arguments why faith, happiness and morality are important for us to survive and then you say that it's mysterious why they are fundamental. As for the reason why religion exist, I admit this was unclear from my part, I associated faith with religion, and it is this faith that I find as the reason. How I see this is that many will start believing to things like the turkey, then faith will emerge and later this faith will creat this reality we live in. No matter how christianity has formed, it is faith that creats the christian society, for those christians what they believe is true because of their faiths... and for them it is true... the believe is what makes reality what it is. Misterious why they are fundamental, of course it is misterious, because it is universal, in order to have an evolve specy no matter in which universe or no matter where in this universe, they must possess those 3 aspects or they will just disapear... I find things that are fundamental misterious, because being something fundmanetal is misterious. You do not agree? Do you not find that the universality of fundamental mathematic is misterious? As seeming faith or what you consider fake faith... I highly disagree. Faith is what makes our world what it is, you believe in something, it is true for you, no matter if others consider it a fantasy... what we consider as truth is a collective psychosis. Faith has a real influence. Faith is one of the bases of my multiple Universe theory. Everything exist, like the artist that could paint everything he wants, but once he start painting using his brush, he creat his masterpiece and has chosen what to paint. Faith is exactly the same thing... everything exist, your faith is the choice you take, like infinit TV channels, you decide to watch one channel over infinit numbers of channels. By faith I mean faith in God, faith in soul, faith in your own divine nature, etc. I understand you mean more like hope/self confidence/determination, of course that is also a sort of faith. And I largely agree with you, except on the faith in the Multiple Universe. This shouldn't be news for you but I am a believer of objective reality. If it is true that there are multiple universes then having or not having faith in such a theory doesn't change anything. If it is not true, again faith has no role in it being the reality. I don't think turkeys have faith. I think it is more a will to survive and their natural instinct, but they cannot have faith because they can't think like you and me about the things around them.
