Of all the stupid cults like Jehovah’s and Mormons, anyone here heard of ՇԱԲԱԹԱՊԱՀ/shabatapah cult?

I have.

A long time ago a few of my schoolmates were known to have been from a family of “shabatapah”s, observers of the Sabbath.

Are they still alive? Does it sound like the Christian Scientists?

Btw. Recenetly there was a big story about a young man murdering is own parents and attributing that Jehovah had ordered him. There are insane people in every society and “religious” culture. As to why there are so many parent hating children is another subject, what choice the child have but to turn to other cults when both parents are alcohol and other drug addicted child and spouse abusers.

Here is my question.

Why are we Armenians such “shabatapahh”s ?

Does the world media, or your local newspaper shut down over the weekend?

Who is more shabatapah?

MY MAIN QUESTION.

Why do all Armenian news media shut down over the weekend, all the way from Friday Sunset to Monday Sunrise?

When did the Week in Armenia contract from seven days to five, Monday to Friday where everything is shut down in between Friday and Monday?

Does it mean we all go to sleep between Friday and Monday, or we all go picnicking at Khor Virap? Make that “khor mrap/խոր մրափ** deep nap/sleep.

** Somehow connected to “morph/sleep” as in “morphine”. Is it related to “mort” as in dead?

Once I had a colleague, a daughter of a minister who , much to the consternation of her own parents refused to attend to her graduation ceremony on a Sunday because it was on the “Day of the Lord”.

Me? I have worked from the 0 hour to 25, and from 25 to 0 all my life.

Those idiots!!

If we are Christians as some say we are then read the Bible, no not that old fartement, but the New Tetament and see what Jesus said about it;

Verse: 1 Յայնժամ գնաց Յիսուս ընդ արտորայսն նոցա ի շաբաթու. եւ աշակերտքն նորա քաղցեան, եւ սկսան հասկ կորզել եւ ուտել:

փարիսեցիքն իբրեւ տեսին՝ ասեն ցնա. ահաւանիկ աշակերտքն քո գործեն, զոր ոչ է արժան գործել ի շաբաթու:

Եւ նա ասէ ցնոսա. ոչ իցէ ընթերձեալ ձեր՝ զոր արար դաւիթ, յորժամ քաղցեաւն, եւ որ ընդ նմայն էին:

Զիարդ եմուտ ի տունն Աստուծոյ՝ եւ եկեր զհաց զառաջաւորութեանն. զոր ոչ էր օրէն նմա ուտել, եւ ոչ՝ որոց ընդ նմա էին. բայց միայն քահանայից:

Կամ չիցէ ընթերցեալ յօրէնս՝ զի ի շաբաթս քահանայքն՝ ի տաճարին՝ պղծեն զշաբաթն, եւ անմեղք են:

Եւ նա ասէ ցնոսա. ով իցէ ի ձէնջ մարդ՝ որոյ իցէ ոչխար մի, եւ անկանիցի այն ի խորխորատ ի շաբաթու. միթէ ոչ ունիցի եւ յարուցանիցէ զնա.

Իսկ արդ՝ որչափ եւս առաւել է մարդ քան զոչխար. ապա ուրեմն պարտ է ի շաբաթու բարիս գործել:

This is probably a lot less than you are looking for, but I remember reading that earlier Christians fasted on the Sabbath and then celebrated Lord's Supper on Sunday.
