I hate to deviate from the main theme. In another topic "What rae Listening" I brought up the similarity of Sassountsi David and Rustam/Sohrab.

See;

Where are our frieds of Pers-Armenian/ParskaHay background?

I don't want to name names, lest I do unjustice to some. They know who they are.

Defining the shifting and ethereal nature of mythic folklore to a specified aesthetic position is problematic enough, but when the animation is SO careless and unsightly, it robs the epic of all its value.

That rant spent, thanks for sharing Arpa. :)

For obvious reasons, I'll stick to this... :D

Yes Zartonk. My original message was how the epics of neighboring people are so similar.

However.

I have the paper edition of that epic by Firdawsi in English and I have read it several times.

Is it not the reverse that Rustam the father kills Sohrab the son?

Persian manuscript painting:Rustam lamented for Suhrab

Sohrāb or Suhrāb (Persian: سهراب) is a character from the Shahnameh, or the Tales of Kings by Ferdowsi in the tragedy of Rostam and Sohrab. He was the son of Rostam, who was an Iranian warrior, and Tahmineh, the daughter of the king of Samangam, a neighboring country. He was slain at a young age by his father Rostam. Rostam only found out he was his son after fatally wounding him in a duel.
