Editor's note: On July 13, A London-based political observer,

Bernard Nazarian blasted the most recent oil-financed disinformation

on Artsakh.

 

His stance on settling the Artsakh conflict "according to the UN's

Charter based on its article regarding Self Determination which

supersedes territorial integrity," is most fair and empowering. The oil

interests-driven neo-cons and their Petroleum Interest-MP's (PIMP's)

in London must be held accountable for their abuse of political power

for economic gains.

 

No, to anti-democratic self-interests. Yes, to Democracy and the

Right to Self-Determination!

 

Dear sir,

 

Your EDM is highly misleading:

 

1. The Madrid Principles are only a mediation exercise consequently

under international law that process is not binding. Only arbitrations

are binding. Additionally, Madrid Principles are not updated. They

pathetically fail to mention the recovery of parts of the Plateau

of Armenia under Azeri occupation; nor do they make any reference to

the return of Armenian refugees;

 

2. It is most disturbing that you have failed to mention the repeated

bellicose ravings emanating from Baku's Aliyev dynastic regime. For

your information such hateful declarations are contrary to the UN's

Charter as demonstrated in its subsequent protocols.

 

3. It is unrealistic and laughable for you to suggest that the

Armenians should renounce their democratically elected government,

genuine exercise in democracy which have been highly praised by

international independent observers during previous six elections,

and to exist under the consistently flawed and fraudulently elected

dynastic regimes in Baku that have been repeatedly and consistently

condemned as such by the international community. It is sad to see the

treatment of minorities in Azerbaijan such as the Kurds, Lezgis and

the Talish. Armenians have always formed the largest group within their

Artsakh territory, and they have no intention of becoming a minority.

 

4. Your argument that one million Azeris have become refugees is an

outright lie. That distorted propaganda ploy is no longer accepted

by the international community;

 

5. Return of the Armenian refuges to the sections of the Plateau of

Armenia such as the Shahumian and Getashen and Artzvashen Districts

as well as Nakhichevan is a must;

 

6. The four UN Security Council resolutions could not be implemented

because every time the Artsakh Armenians attempted to implement them

the Azeri invasion army mounted a new genocidal attack, as convincingly

documented by many especially Vladimir Kazimirov, the Russian co-chair

of the Minsk Group at the time;

 

7. The issue in question can only be settled according to the UN's

Charter based on its article regarding Self Determination which

supersedes territorial integrity. Norms under international law

maintain self determination if the said aspect has been maintained

democratically within successfully established de facto frontiers.

 

8. Under international law the issue in question is practically

settled. However Azerbaijan must vacate occupied Armenian territories

as mentioned above and come to terms with de facto realities

 

9. ADDENDUM: It is important to note that the current negotiations

are practically null and void as the Republic of Artsakh for which

the negotiations have been conducted has been arbitrarily excluded

from the process; a most disturbing state of affairs.

 

Democracy and transparency must be upheld. Armenians are no less

human beings than Kosovars, amongst others, for example!

Day Motion 408, tabled on the 6th July in the House of Commons to

highlight the UN and EU Resolutions on Nagorno-Karabakh.

 

The EDM is in the name of Mark Field (Chair of the Azerbaijan APPG),

but is sponsored by MPs from the three main political parties. The

UN, EU and OSCE all call for the withdrawal of Armenian troops from

occupied Azerbaijani sovereign territory in Nagorno-Karabakh and the

seven surrounding regions, and for a speedy conclusion to this 16

year stalemate. This would allow for the return of nearly one million

refugees and Internally Displaced Persons, who are united in their

desire to return home. We need your help in writing to your MP to

encourage them to sign this EDM.

 

"That this House calls on the Government to urge the OSCE Minsk

group to bring talks over the occupation of Nagorno Karabakh and

seven surrounding regions by Armenian troops to a speedy conclusion

based on the Madrid Principles; maintains that this is essential in

order that almost one million Azerbaijani refugees and internally

displaced people can return to their homes; notes that UN Security

Council resolutions numbers 822, 853, 874 and 884 all call for the

withdrawal of Armenian troops; also notes that on 20 May 2010 the

European Parliament passed a resolution demanding the withdrawal

of Armenian troops; and further notes that on 21 May 2010 EU High

Representative Baroness Catherine Ashton labelled the June 2010

election in the occupied territories as unconstitutional and illegal."

Also want to add all those nationalists who want to "liberate" western Armenia in their comfy living rooms hardly desire to live among Kurds and villagers.Arsakh is free and I don't see thousands of Armenians from diaspora relocating there.

We got plenty of land!!!!! but few people willing to live there. White genocide is real.

What we need is to get rid of old soviet style politicians and create transparent government on firm foundations which include both diaspora and local Armenians as ONE nation.

Ironically dble citizenship is not yet realized after talking about it for 15yrs.

It's the same picture in all post soviet republics. Very few could have survived what we went through. Transition from one political/economic system to another one, is a very serious business. Someone once said "knowledge is gained by direct effort". Lets' give those people credit for the road they have traveled, and for what they have achieved. I'm gonna be in Armenia in couple of weeks. I expect to see more changes towards better.

Just want to add that in Kafkaz counties Georgia is far ahead in corruption and transparency.Their rating is way up! and that despite of all the political turmoil and wars and conflict.One can't reconcile mediocrity.

If we were real smart we could give Diaspora Armenians full RA passports and welcome them back like in Isreal.Its only obvious that the ones in power rather keep things battled up and milk the people.

F-k em. What we need is real revolution. In present circumstances Armenia is being depopulated on its own.They just arrested bunch of Armenian prostitutes in Turkey!Its real shame that things have to get this bad.
