Berj Posted March 7, 2001 Report Share Posted March 7, 2001 Armenian experts discover sand, stones in US food aid 24 Feb 2001Noyan Tapan Armenian experts discover sand, stones in USfood aid Yerevan, 23 February: Specialists of Armgosstandart [Armenian statestandard] and the Supervisory Service of the Armenian prime minister havediscovered a considerable amount of crushed stones and sand in 60 tonnesof wheat provided as humanitarian aid by the USA. Noyan Tapan has learntfrom the head of the Supervisory Service, (?Sergey Manukyan), that all ofthe affected wheat was discovered only in one storage facility, and thereasons for the pollution are being clarified currently. At the sametime, Manukyan gave his assurances that the issue of proceeds from thesale of this wheat being paid into the state budget is also in the centreof attention.
