ընտանիք is "family"

Մյ Ֆամիլյ is "my family" the english phrase literally written in armenian script, one-to-one transliterating the letters (which doesn't exactly sound like "my family" if you read it as if it were Armenian).

It is kind of remarkable that you had the wherewithal to write the words in Armenian script, starting presumably from handwriting, and yet don't know what they mean. And the transliteration itself is funny. The whole thing is kind of funny. Oh, well, I hope this helped.

Ընտանիք from "ընդ-տանիք", litarally "'under' the same roof/տանիք/taniq" does in fact mean "family".

Remains to see what the Latin word "familia/familliare" means"??? Does it sound "familiar" to you? Does it have anything to do with "familiar/familiarity"? I.e. to "know on another under the same roof"??

My Family?

IM @ntaniq@ Իմ ընդ- տանիքը, i.e "my, under the same roof տանիք /tanik":

Please note the Armenian "ընդ" as @ntanik to mean the Egnglish "und"er.

Ընդ/@nd to mean "under" is also seen in words like "yendaka/ subordinate/under".

If I only could stimulate us to learn the Armenian language unlike those who come here asking us what HyeMer, meaning Hayr Mer (Our Father) means.

There is sizable clan with the surname of Doniikan, mostly of Marashtsi heritage.. Knowing that in the Marash dialect most A s turn to O, as in tgha/tgho to mean boy/lad. Is it that Donikian was originally meant to be Danikian, Տոնիկեան/ Տանիքեան?
