vava Posted March 30, 2008 Report Share Posted March 30, 2008 I can't recommend a good one in LA - but I can offer some advice: DON'T COMPROMISE on your roof. I learned from experience. Although I did much of the work for the cabin myself, I was not going to install roofing. So for scheduling reasons I decided to use the same contractor I was using for some other work to install the metal roofing - he explained to me that his crew had experience in this type of installation, and that the work would be done concurrently with the other stuff. I didn't get a roofing specialist, and now I regret it. The first winter we had major humidity issues, due to poor roof ventilation. After that was sorted out I discovered that they had using the incorrect flashing for the chimney sections (ayy! leaks!). Generally they were inexperienced and ill-equipped - they did the job, but it's certainly not top-quality.... I figure in about 8-10 years, I'll save up some money and have it redone....
