Amendments in the presidential decree on "Declaring a state of emergency"

On March 13 RA President Robert Kocharyan signed a decree on implementing amendments in the presidential decree dated March 1, 2008.

 

According to the ruling, point 4.4 of the decree on "Declaring a state of emergency" will read as follows

 

4. Mass media are prohibited from publicizing or disseminating obvious lies connected with state and domestic issues, destabilizing information, calls to participate in illegal arrangements.

 

Point 4.5 loses its force.

The decree comes into force from March 14, 2008.

Serge Sargsyna: Political coalition aimed at implementing reforms and serious changes in the country

 

The aim of forming a political coalition is to implement reforms and serious changes in the country, RA Prime Minister, President-Elect Serge Sargsyan said after the signing of a Coalition Agreement between four parliamentary forces at RA Government. According to him, these changes may be “painful” for many, and the support of the society and mass media is needed for their implementation.

 

Representative of the ARF Supreme Body Armen Rustamyan noted that this document is a product of long negotiations. According to him, the agreement is primarily a political document, and the concordance of the political approaches on the issues the country faces were considered to be the most important. Armen Rustamyan noted that signing this document, Dashnaktsutyun pursued three aims, including the rapid easing of the current internal political tension for which political will and desire to move forward are needed.

 

According to the President of the Prosperous Armenia Party Gagik Tsarukyan, the agreement once again obliges to work jointly to come up to the expectation of the people and fulfill the promises given to them.

 

Leader of the Orinats Yerkir Party Arthur Baghdasaryan noted this is the first time such a comprehensive document is being signed in the political reality of Armenia, since it has several peculiarities. In particular, the political forces that signed the Agreement received a great number of votes in both parliamentary and presidential elections, which means that the political coalition enjoys the trust of the overwhelming majority of the population. According to him, another important peculiarity is that for the first time it is noted in the document that the parties are assuming political responsibility for the activity of the authorities of the Republic of Armenia.

Note: This is what I am talking about, while we sit on our butts and discuss that LTP should be arrested ets... the government is doing as much as they can to prevent further bashes and opositions ralies. In another words they are trying their best to make everyone blieve that they are the righteous ones for the country and the people.

I am surprised that all the smart people we have in the forum none of us has suggested of a coalition between at least couple of the parliamentary forces!!!

INVESTIGATORS FIND EVIDENCE TO SUE ELECTION COMMISSION CHAIRMAN

 

YEREVAN, APRIL 2, ARMENPRESS: Prosecutors from the special investigative service of the Office of the Prosecutor-General said they ended inquiry into a criminal case involving the chairman of a polling station in Yerevan who is facing charges of rigging the results of last month's presidential election.

Sona Truzian, a spokeswoman for the Office of the Prosecutor-General, said to Armenpress that investigators found ample evidence proving that Seyran Mkrtumian, chairman of a precinct commission in Yerevan's Erebuni district, stole the envelope with 146 ballots cast in favor of ex-president Levon Ter-Petrosian after a recount procedure.

The incident occurred on February 23. The recount was watched by proxies of candidates, journalists and international observers.

She said the recount showed that 151 ballots cast in favor of Levon Ter-Petrosian were put into the envelope that contained ballots cast in favor of Serzh Sarkisian. She said the man also falsified the protocol to cover the crime.

She said Mkrtumian pleaded guilty. The case was sent to a court for trial.
