Arvestaked
I think that scotch has a different taste, sure most whiskey tastes similar, but there are some which are better than others. I tried that famous scotch, the $32 dollar one. It starts with a "G" I think. This is very primitive of me to say this, but brandy always had that vomit smell and taste for me. I know it sounds disgusting and plebian, but it really does remind me of that. Also I really can't tell vodka's apart. I tried, but my taste buds can't distinguish. Sake yes, vodka no. Personally I prefer sake over vodka, it's smoother. Glenlivet? Glenfiddich? It took me a while to get into brandy. Now I can enjoy a small amount when I'm in the right mood. The important thing is that in the world of brandy, the Armenian is second only to the French cgonac and even then there are some Armenian brandy's that are comparable and for the most part they're on par with French Armangnac. I really enjoy a good cold sake. But I need to have it with sushi or it won't make sense in my mind. It's smoother because it has less alcohol. I still don't really know too much about single malts vs. any other malts. If you never tried it you absolutely should. An interesting taste It has a bit of a flavor and it's rounded; I can't really say that about vodka. My drinks have to have amost non existent sweetness, rounded and smooth flavor and have a little bit of the alcohol kick. That's why I tend to favor wine, sake (wine too I guess), beer and maybe one day scotch. Vodka has no flavor, too much of a kick and cognac has a little too much sweetness. Anileve
When I order whiskey, I order Glenlivet. Nothing beats wine. Nothing. I forced myself to get accustomed to vodka, and I have to say that it's getting better. So far I liked Chopin, closely followed by Kettle One. Svedka and Smirnoff were a little too abrasive, waiting to try Belvedere and Three Olives. Oh, my new infatuation? Dry and dirty martinis, of course with pimiento stuffed green olives, the more the better. Bombay Gin and Martini & Rossi work best, a perfect after work drink. I know, I am so gay. Azat
Marani Vodka is a new Armenian vodka that is now being sold in the USA. They won Gold Prizes at the San Francisco beverage tasting competition in 2004 and 2007 -- one of the most important competitions of its kind in the world. I was able to buy a bottle (from the locked cabinet) at a Vons supermarket and apparently some Pavillions supermarkets carry it as well. About $28 a bottle. Highly recommended. Spread the word. I tried it 2 weeks back and it was awesome. thanks for the recomendation...
