They had a DJ(not his fault) and 95% of the tunes the guy played made me want to vomit.(this could have been related to the low quality food that gets served at these weddings, but that is a different story ) I only thought that the few Tata songs were good and found myself on the Dance floor only once dancing to "Sway" by Dean Martin sung by some lady. Everything else sounded horrible to me including Aram Asatrian, his son, Paul Baghdadian, Armenchik, Harut and all the other crap. I also find it amazing how everyone on the dance floor knows the words to all those songs(which tells me that they listen to the crap). Also all the persian music in Armenian weddings is just disturbing. My question is if money is no object, who would you have at your wedding for music. I understand the need to have dance music where many will participate. I would have to say that if I were getting married and money was no object I would (like HeyBruin ) have Tata singing(I am not even sure if he does weddings) and maybe a DJ for some of the nice international tangos. What/who would you guys have. If you are married and had an Armenian wedding who was the singer and why did you choose him/her. *Movses - I am not asking this question because I am getting married. I personnaly prefer his music over tata's, because it is not as monotonous as tata's and the guy's been around for long before tata and knows better music in my opinion. The only "Armenian" thing about "Tata", Mata, Armenchik and all the rest that capitalize on the majority low class Armenians is probably their ethnic origin (although not sure;-)). I guess our people deep in heart are oriental, but we are not exemption - same is even in many parts in Eastern Europe, not to speak about former Yugoslavia where this crap is alleviated to the level of national icon. PS: On the other hand there is a strong resistance among young people against this music. My Serb friend Zoran whenever hears some "familiar" tunes leaves the place immediately. Rubo Posted December 2, 2002 Report Share Posted December 2, 2002 OK guys this is my dream that never happened.I imagined a real Zorna, dhol costumes,Mush Sassoon music on my wedding...but I was totally broke so there was no wedding ,instead I took my bride to Greece and Italy for two mouths.I still dream about a authetic Armenian wedding ( please don't ask what that is).My cousins are musicians and there is still possibility...
