Anahit
Any ideas why: 1. People push away happiness and then complain and complain and complain????? 2. Try their best to force others into unhappiness? 3. Are glad to see others as unhappy and lost as they are? 4. Can't stand others success and happiness??? We have been talking about these and many other related subjects at my place, and i just thought: "hey! I can ask the forum memebrs too!!!!" Have u ever thought of these questions? Any personal experiences? I don't want to blame on jealousy, cause i find it too childish.

Anahit
Anon, when i saw an answer to the topic, I got quite excited and was very glad to open the page to read your answer. But unfortunately (or fortunately?) u have even more questions than i have But u are lucky, cause i can answer to u: 1. Would like to know your reply. 2. NO QUESTIONS- NO ANSWERS! 3. because want more answers than they themselves can come up with. 4. care for your ideas. and many more we have had the discussion on "why people ask questions" few years ago with my friends Hope i was helpful, and hope next time u can be more helpful to me too. p.s. this new avatar little bit scary, but not enough to scare me away but the very old one was REALLY scary
Anonymouse
Well, I can tell this is important to you since you were 'just wondering' and hoped I could answer your questions. Pardon me for earlier, how rude of me. Since you were such a good sport in answering mine, I shall take a stab at it and answer yours. Any ideas why: 1. People push away happiness and then complain and complain and complain????? Because they are people, duh. 2. Try their best to force others into unhappiness? Because they are people, duh. 3. Are glad to see others as unhappy and lost as they are? Because they are people, duh. 4. Can't stand others success and happiness??? Because they are people, duh. We have been talking about these and many other related subjects at my place, and i just thought: "hey! I can ask the forum memebrs too!!!!" Have u ever thought of these questions? Any personal experiences? By the way, what is "your place"? Is that like an island where the inner circle lives? A secret society of Anahits who ponder, muse and discuss life's ineffable questions? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v96/Anonymouse/emot-q.gif But in all seriousness, I don't think I have ever mused about these sort of questions because I don't think they have mattered to me. I suppose I have never really cared since I always thought my happiness depended on what I willed, not what others willed. Consequently I have not allowed others to impose their will on me. Where there is a question of force is another matter. I have thought of happiness but only in terms of what I want and can achieve for me. I have always heard of "jealous" (yes yes I know you want to avoid that) people from folks around me who muse much the same as you, but why would I blame someone jealous? If anything, I would shake their hand and congratulate them for trying to so hard to dedicate a portion of their life and mind to me. Even though they may have had ill will in mind, I am nonetheless flattered that they choose to pay attention to me. Who doesn't like to be the center of the universe? I don't take the jealous people as "bad", but as a virtuous and necessary part of existence to help one realize their potentials, their strengths, their weaknesses. Perhaps my problem is I never really cared for people and I like to be left alone to myself and my solitude. When I choose to associate with folks I will and do but it's on my own terms. And more than one occasion I have gotten to be the most disliked in many avenues, including by some on this and other forums. But I love it and thrive off of it. Am I demented? I think so. I don't want to blame on jealousy, cause i find it too childish. I blame it on daytime TV, soap operas and Oprah. Oh shit! I discovered a cool new phrase. Soap opera + Oprah = Soap Oprah! kakachik77
Anon answered it pretty well "it's human nature - we like to be competitive, engage in power struggle and when someone comes out as too happy or too successful, we simply start thinking how to overdo him/her" Think of it as a method for people to engage in progressive thinking... kakachik77
Of course, there is also a more spiritual or religious approach to this question - pride is vanity (in Christianity), too much showing of happiness or success attributes to this factor indirectly, and that is one needs to be humble etc etc. Lastly, people who mostly exhibit happy state of being - oftentime are hard to relate to - as one feels that they are lacking a true experience in life - and we all know, this thing called life sometimes can suck hard - and we as a humans want to find a "friend" with similar experience to share our sorrows. hope this help
Sip
Any ideas why: 1. People push away happiness and then complain and complain and complain????? 2. Any personal experiences? I don't want to blame on jealousy, cause i find it too childish. #1. It's the most basic form of getting sympathy from others. The more unhappy you are, the more attention you can draw to yourself. Unfortunately, some people as you say, will even push away happiness just so that they can feel sorry for themselves which somehow, stragely enough, makes them in a way happy! #2. Not sure about this one. I am sure there are those like this but it's not everyone. If you are asking why some people might do this, my guess is because of jealousy. #3. There is nothing worse than watch the world pass you by! Especially if you know you could have done something about it but didn't. So with #3, somehow watching others unhappy justifies our own failures and miseries. #4. Same as 2 and 3 I think.
Anahit
Thank u all very much!!!! VERY interesting ideas indeed! I hadn't thought of some of them like the way u do, like for example using complaining and being unhappy as a tool of getting sympathy and attention... I can't stand people who complain and complain and complain... I just want to slap them and scream at them: "USE YOUR BRAINS! STOP WHINNING AND GET A LIFE!" And when they are the couse of their own unhappiness and instead of changing it they complain and complain... Oh, that just drives me crazy! And somehow I have never seen a connection between pride and happiness: I think happy people are not proud. But successful ones can be very proud. Anon!what a wonderful idea on a secret society of Anahits!!!! I will try to create one when i am too old and useless for many other things From Anon's post I realized that I muse about these and other questions alike quite a lot, cause too many people come to me for answers and help, and I don't know how to say "no". Maybe I am getting tired? Few months ago I came to conclusion, that friends (and just people around) take too much of my time. I am shamed to think like that, but i think my honey is right: i think for others too much. That's one of the reasons i started to practice yoga: to learn to stop my brain of thinking about stuff i should not. Oh, i forgot to tell about "my place". IT IS WHERE I LIVE! "my place" i mean the city, the place i am in now. Edited April 18, 2006 by Anahit

Anahit
Just something funny, as Sebastia brought up the subject. When Chinese ask me whether I am married or not, and I say that I am, they get very excited and ask me: "TO A CHINESE?!" And when i say no (in fact my hubby is not even asian), they frown, sigh and say: "Eh... Chinese men are too useless..." (men) or "Such a pity!" (women) I always find it sooooo funny!!!! But when Armenians find our that my baby is not asian, they sign and say:"GOOD!". THIS one I don't get Are Armenians as crazy about "white race" as Chinese are? Seems like. BUT WHY? we are not snow-white too, afterall... Edited April 20, 2006 by Anahit

Anoushik
Vai, Anoushik jan!!!!!!!!!!! ays vortex eir du????? I have been missing u!!!!!!!!!!! And have been thinking of u these days!! I am not kidding! Hello Anahit How are you? I'm finishing my last semester of college - with 20 units! Agh! This whole semester went by so fast it felt like summer school. Next week are the last week of classes, and beginning May 1 is the finals week. Yay! But at the same time I'm not looking forward to it since I've got so much to do. I checked Hyeforum for a while, just reading threads, but then completely stopped in April. Still, I love Hyeforum and can always count on this wonderful site to give me information, help, and support regarding all aspects of being an Armenian.
