A third draw was made to determine the running order of the points presentation during the live broadcast of the Final. This draw came necessary for technical reasons to set up satellite links to the participating countries in the voting. For the first time in the contest’s history, the presentation of the points from the televoting during the Final will be split. Points from 1 to 7 will only be shown on the live TV scoreboard; points 8, 10 and 12 will be announced by spokespersons from each country and will then be added to the scoreboard. The three last countries in the voting will stay to the 'old' way of presenting the points: All points from 1 to 12 will be read aloud by the spokespersons. This procedure was used during the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2005 and helped to streamline the voting procedure. Svante Stockselius, the EBU Supervisor explained that this procedure will keep all the excitement of the voting but safe time for the show. Due to Serbia & Montenegro's withdrawal Croatia will directly go to the Final. Therefore, in this year's Eurovision Song Contest 23 countries will participate in the Semi Final, 24 will take part in the Final. 38 countries will participate in the televoting during the Final - these are the 37 participating countries plus Serbia & Montenegro. Bear in mind that the ten finalists were announced at random order, as the EBU never reveals the standings of the countries competing in the semifinal before the ESC is over. You’ve just come from your second press conference where you’ve been getting a lot of attention. How do you feel? Andre: The attention has been the most overwhelming thing so far. From the day I arrived until today, I’ve been getting more and more. But you know, I am a shy guy. So sometimes it gets too much for me. But I feel fine and I am glad to be here. And I am really, really impressed. eurovision.tv: Can you explain a bit about the music scene in your country? Does your song represent that scene? Andre: The music scene is very diverse. But I think the most important thing about my song is that it is written by an Armenian, which makes my song Armenian. For me it’s also important to underline that music is international and doesn’t know any borders. That is what I feel about my song and the songs in the country I represent. eurovision.tv: Are you being accompanied by your family and friends? Andre: Actually, only my sister is here with me. Andre is going to represented Armenia at Eurovision 2006. Benetatos says his 17 years old daughter is very interested in the contest. MosJan Posted May 19, 2006 Author Report Share Posted May 19, 2006 problems have arisen in Greece where Andre represented his song. “A1+” received a letter from the Greek information agency “Hayastan” which on behalf of part of the Armenian community living in Greece complains of the activity of Vahram Kazhoyan, RA Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Greece. According to the agency, “because of him the Armenians in Greece live in a tense atmosphere.” The letter explains that the reason of the tense atmosphere is that with the support of Ambassador Kazhoyan Andre participates only in events held for the members of the Dashnaktsutyun (Armenian Revolutionary Federation) party. “The singer is practically isolated from the local Armenian community and all its cultural and educational centers with the exception of those which operate under the sponsorship of the Dashnaktsutyun,” the letter says. “The two cases which caused much indignation were the following. On May 14 the Armenian Embassy organized a concert for the Armenian community with the participation of Andre and a number of singers from Armenia at which only the members of the Dashnaktsutyun party were allowed to be present. The second case was that Andre did not visit the ‘Galpaqyan’ college of the AGBU, whereas he visited the schools operating under the sponsorship of the Dashnaktsutyun party.” According to several sources the staff of the Armenian Embassy in Greece is also displeased with the attitude of Ambassador Kazhoyan which causes problems in the Armenian community.
