Azat Posted February 14, 2003 Report Share Posted February 14, 2003 I am not sure if I am just getting old and grumpy or if others too will agree with me that tattoos are not beautiful. I have always considered women who have tattoos on their lower back or chest as "slutty". I know I am generalizing and all that.... But the reason that prompted me to write here is because last weekend I was at the Glendale Galleria to purchase a birthday gift and noticed two young(had to be under 20) Armenian ladies and one of them had a fairly large hawaiian type of a tattoo on her lower back. I was somewhat shocked and surprised, but when I told this story to my little cousins, they all said that there are many who have tattoos and piercings. WOW. I am very surprised in a way. I don't have a camera you perv One is my birth sign (an M with a tail), and the other was an Armenian cross but done so badly I had to cover it with a pretty cool black & white Celtic design. It's just that they're both very difficult to conceal, and I don't think they really suit me (esp the latter, even though it's the more "arty" of the two). I basically can't wear whatever I want anymore... Edit: I forgot the third, the one I like. It's a Chinese symbol for "forever" in red. Got it done with my best friend. (and in case you're wondering she's armenian too!) ~~~well, apparently this is a growing subculture in our society today...as I was watching this TV coverage on Tattoo conventions where people gather to show off and check out! (Hey, Sip you might want to find out where this year's will be and check out some "art") anyways, then they've got these tattoo artists who are like the Versace's of the tattoo world...who take appts. 5-6 months in advance...who show up at these conventions and if you're lucky and ask for an "easy to do" tattoo, they just might do it on the spot! otherwise, you'll have to wait a loooong time to see them!) hey, Sip, if you take Azat with you to one of these places...I'm sure he'll have a lot of fun!! and you both will make "new friends" Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

THOTH Posted February 15, 2003 Report Share Posted February 15, 2003 I enjoy tatoos...on other people - LOL - I'm not much for ornamentation myself...peircing I'm more mixed on...but its your body I guess...there are a few that definatly do not do it for me. Like when I was younger a good friend of mine had this huge safety pin thing right through his cheek (remember punk!) - nah...I also have some artist friends who do tatooing and have some pretty elaborate ones themselves. They go to the conventions and such as well whcih I understand are pretty wild. I have no hesitation asking folks to show me their tatoos - LOL. Most are pretty into it (show & tell)...its a good way to get a gal to drop some clothing too - can be fun to be a voyer! I've gotten looks at some pretty intimate tatoos! (Yeah - I love the art - LOL!) I'm not surprised that younger Armenians are doing it...typical rebel against the conservative parents response...and its certainly becomming more a mainstream part of our culture.
