well... isn't that what true faith all about? if you are anything less than that then you don't have faith... you doubt your god...

when you accept christ, for example, as the son of god, thus the only savior, the only path to god and heaven, the almighty, the omnipotent, the one and only one, whose word is the absolute truth and nothing but truth, how can you allow yourself to sit down and listen what the other person has to say? that would mean that your faith in your god is not perfect... you have doubts in your mind about your god...

furthermore, when you accept christ, for example, as the son of god, thus the only savior, the only path to god and heaven, the almighty, the omnipotent, the one and only one, whose word is the absolute truth and nothing but truth, when you know you have found the path and the only path, how can you sit aside and watch your fellow friend, compatriot, or any other person for that matter live in darkness, without god, walking a wrong path... wouldn't that be selfish act to not tell him/her about the truth, about the god, about the path, illuminate him/her? wouldn't it be the most unchristian thing to do, to not share the goodness with your neighbor?

either you accept christ, for example, as the god, the perfect being, or you don't... there is no between, there are no buts or ifs... there is no half christian... anything less than perfect devotion and absolute doubtlessness makes you no christian...

Well said Harut.

God-lovers don't insult people.

But you think those who haven't found God yet still need time to be enlightened and reach the level of mental sophistication of those that have found God ... right? ... or that they are led by the devil ... right?

As the famous saying goes, if it looks, walks, and quacks like a duck, then it's a duck. Doesn't matter that you want to call it something else. As Harut said (and you agreed), those who adamantly believe in a God, have no choice but to reject all other notions that might somehow undermine their belief in God. That's why, God-lovers have no choice but to insult those who don't believe in their God.

And FYI, what does the Bible do? It insults ALL non-believers .. dismisses them as "lost souls" or as "bad people" that are destined for eternal damnation. "God-lovers don't insult people?" Paaaaaaaaaalease! God-lovers are often the least tolerant, most condescending, most closed-minded, and most insulting of them ALL. They might not come out and use bad words, but that's not the kind of insults we are talking about here.

Disclaimer: About this last part, I know someone (Sasun?) will call me out that I am stereotyping or insulting a group myself. But in fact I am not. This all just follows from what it means to be a believer (in God/Gods) as Harut has laid out above as well.

Not quite. I think those who haven't found God will find him soon enough. It has nothing to do with mental sophistication.

I doubt you know anything about the Bible.

Hmmmm...you must have had a bad experience with someone who "claims" to be a God-lover, but in reality is not.

1 John 4:20

If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen.

Sip, are you not persecuting all of us at this very moment?

Matthew 5:11-12

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you."

Not that I'm surprised...

Get it? Do you see the judgemental, condescending, closed-minded tone in those quotes at all? I figured what better way to illustrate my point that the Bible itself. Especially since you seem to be so fond of it! Just to translate to non-biblical terms, the first one basically says those who don't believe in God are corrupt and bad people. The second one says even if you just say something bad about God, you go to Hell. That's what I have been talking about.

Now what was YOUR point with your quotes? You seem to enjoy pulling random quotes from the bible.

Why don't you ever post things like:

Deuteronomy 22:11-12

Do not wear clothes of wool and linen woven together. Make tassels on the four corners of the cloak you wear.

Leviticus 19:19

Do not wear material woven of two kinds of material.

or ...

Deuteronomy 22:20-21

If, however, the charge is true and no proof of the girl's virginity can be found, she shall be brought to the door of her father's house and there the men of her town shall stone her to death.

Or are you somehow ashamed of these blunders of God  The bible IS the word of God, isn't it?

Incase you hadn't noticed, the quotes I "randomly pulled" were relevant to what we were discussing, lol. Take a second look mister.

Oh and about the stoning. Did you notice the book of Deuteronomy is in the Old Testament? And the OT is full of stories of what people did!

The New Testament is where we learn of Jesus Christ and his teachings, and that is the word of God. Even the Jewish Torah has Old Testament stories in it.

Harut jan:

Though ever since yesterday's "unhamoutyoun and lively discussions" I have a headache and dizziness and I had no desire or might to answer; but I am only going to say this. "peranet hampourem"; (it's an Armenian way of saying how just hit the spot; by golly you've got it) for understanding the core of the problems and explaining to them how exactly it is. I will say no more and I will go back to nursing myself and or studying while I nurse myself.

Good night Harut jan and thank you for understanding it!!!

Harut; I had a bad headache yesterday and was quite busy with school work so I have typed these words very quickly following from your excerpt; however I simply wanted to say that Christians do have tolerance and they do exercise open mindedness; that is if people do not use put down words or use bad language against God.

Edward in another thread have asked me to choose for instance, between a clan and/or friendship and

God. It was not a very wise way of putting it; so obiously I said God. However, loving God does not mean that you must choose between your friends, your family or your neighbors and God. You can certainly love God and at the same time love your friends also of course. I found it then not the right way of wording it and certainly not right to question it and to put it that way.

For instance, I love my God and I very much love friends too. I long to make more good friends only if they don't disclaim or put down God. As a matter of fact God loves all of us; regardless even if we love Him as yet or not. He wants us to love each other and also to make good friends and be good and loving to our friends; because God IS LOVE!

On this note I don't want you to explain anything to me, because as a first rule you are not respecting me.

Also Edward; I believe I understood it when you said "azkayin badganeliyoutyoun teh azkayin tavanank" I believe I understood it correctly that one is belonging to own nationality and the other to a religion.

Though it's true we as Armenians seem to put them together often; yet they are two different entities. However, due to the fact that since 1700+ years we became Armenian Gregorians, we often find most of the Armenians especially the Western Armenians and a good number of the Eastern Armenians too being linked and belonging to both. Apparently our Churches in the diaspora is the meeting place for both our religion and for out culture too.

To answer your question if you must be Christian to be Armenian? No not necessarily, but a good number of Armenians happen to be. But I do respect all the other ones as well that are not Christians as my Armenian compatriots. Though in my heart I wish them to someday become Christians. But if they do not, that wouldn't make me regard them to be less Armenians, obviously not.

OK let me ask you; what did you mean then when you've asked me the following: 'What is more important for me Christianity or the clan that I belong to?' Weren't you asking me to choose? Because that's how I understood it frankly. Correct me if I am wrong.

ok, I'm asking it again, and, I for one DO NOT pick and choose my freands becouse they are christian, if this very SIMPLE ELEMENTARY logic you find hard to understand then I have nothing more to add!

and I'm thru explaining my self, this is the last post from me dear TAGUHI

I never said that you do choose friends whether they are Christian or not and neither do I.

I posted more on my last post but I was cut off, I don't know but I think time ran off on me.

I was simply answering Azat that I do not wish to argue much less with you; but at the same time I understood it that way from the way your writings came about from your post the other day. I simply wanted you to know that I also regard friends very highly. That was the jist of my wods now!!!

Hey Sip!

In another thread you nominated Azatollah and Arpamazt god and vice god.

We are still negotiating.

Now it is my turn.

Would you consider me nominating you as Pope, as you seem to know more about that hate mongers’ handbook?

It is beyond me how some will disseminate such hate and label it love.

We were incredulous when the Islamic world went on a rampage about a cartoon when our defenders of the faith here flew the handle about my so much milder spoof about that “book”’s “Astuats anitsyal” language. Of course, they did not burn embassies and places of worship… yet.

There are two sides to choose from, Sip. You are either on God's side, or the devil's.

If you choose to disbelieve God, you are on the devil's side. Get it?
