My guess is it would be a he. I only know of one Adis I think and I think he sang that "Garoon Garoon" song that goes like:

Garoon Garoon Garoon eh,

Sirun Sirun Sirun eh,

Ed ko sev sev acherov

Yaaaaaaaar jan du indz danjum es.

repeat over and over and over and over and over ...

What's a 'tape'?

AHAHAHA!!! I recently asked someone at work the same question - I was selling my car, and he asked me if it had a 'tape deck'. :P I'm just glad he didn't ask me about an 8-track. :o

I only bought it from Harut's store here in New Jersey 3 years ago. The one that you put it in the tape recorder... you know? The CD that replaced it? That's the one Sip jan.

By the way, I heard that he's been a numero ouno womanizer in his time. I don't know what he's doing now; but that's what I have heard about him. :D

oh no, i love adis man, he can't be dead

dude that garon garon song should be in armenian hall of fame, i was like 5 when i first heard it, i get touched hearing it

Is that song really Armenian?

Who wrote the words, the music?

About the time it was most popular I saw a clip on TV where these young Israelis were in a bus and one of them was laying the tune on his guitar. The most shocking was when one Saturday I had the radio on a local college station and suddenly the Turkish hour began and the announcer said he would now play an Azeri song....and... you guesssed it, a full blast... words and music ....

???? :o

I don't think he passed away...he has cancer...I believe he's in remission now...

I saw Adiss perform a few times in Boston in the late 1990s. I also saw him in NJ at a wedding in 2003 and then at a big event with other singers - Manuel, Hovig Krikorian and the pianist Armen Aharonian - in 2004. Adiss is probably the best. I don't know what people see in Manuel or Paul. The only one that compares is Harout Pamboukjian, but he and Adiss cater to different groups. And of course Karnig is tops for heghapoghagan songs... Menk Angeghdz Zeenvor Enk, Kuntag Vorodadz, etc.

I like Harout Pamboukjian's songs too. He's very good.
