ExtraHye
I've been meaning to tell you guys something that has been on my mind for years but wasn't sure if I should of posted this on here or not. But I decided to post it today since I could tell how much you guys miss me by not inviting me to your parties. Kidding , well a little . Anyway, here it goes. When my cousin was very young, about 3 or 4 years old, he used to sleep over at his grandparents house over the weekend. One day he woke up late at night telling his grandparents, my dad's uncle and his wife that he just saw a huge black cat in the room and he was afraid to go back to sleep. So his grandmother told him to pray and everything will be fine. So my cousin did just that, prayed and went to sleep. But only 2 of them woke up the next day. My cousins grandmother had died in her sleep. Now my question is... was there really a cat in that room, or was it just a little kids imagination. Some say yes, it was just a huge coincidence. But others say that the cat had come from the other side to take the old ladies soul. What do you think happened here?
Sip
Obviously he didn't pray hard enough Edit: By the way, I have a black cat now. She is just THE best! The most playful and most fun cat I have ever seen. I have these round nerf disks and a gun that shoots them ... I'll shoot them and she'll go chase them down, and bring them back! Eloren
Creepy! But yes i could believe that there was something in that room.. Children look the world through innocent eyes, and I would not even be surprised if they tell me they saw fairies in the garden Yes tell me crazy but i do believe in these things

Children will have many of them, while you get older and lose your innocence and authenticity, you lose this perception. I doubt most fairy tales, premonition dreams I trust. Must be something with the mutilverses that I have one day to find a theory about. Edited November 30, 2005 by QueBeceR
vava
Nope. Not just a premonition. My grandfather's watch stopped at 5am the night he passed away. And it wasn't a winding watch - it had batteries. I have another really weird story about watches. But i'll hold off on telling it in public - I'm still not 'easy' with it..... Anoushik
Even though my dad had called my mom in the morning that same day when he was in Germany, and didn't plan to call again until a couple of days later, he called the next morning because he had dreamed that something bad had happened. He was right. My mom's mom passed away during the night. I believe these are all coincidences. Our world is very small, and we all share similar experiences on a daily basis. Something is bound to match once in a while. ... even though, I must say that I believe I will die relatively young, either by electrocution or in a car accident on one of LA's freeways. Call it intuition (and nope, it doesn't scare me)

I never had a bad premonition dream, which did not happen. I will tell you one example of something that happened, but not on this section. Maral
I'm not smart enough to believe in things like this or not... Black cats are a sign of bad luck usually...and like I said I don't know if it's true or not...but trust me I see a black cat I do my best NOT to cross his path...really I will turn around and take the long way around just to avoid it if at all possible! Seems like your cousin had a premonition....scary.... My father was a big dreamer...and he acted them out in his sleep ...my mom had to dodge several punches during several of his more active dreams ...it's really funny how my mom tells the story of actually waking up to hold his clenched fist back Well once he had a very BAD dream...he wouldn't tell us...usually he'ld share his odd/bad/interesting dreams...this one he wouldn't say...he warned my brother all week to be careful with his new Armenian girlfriend, not to do or say anything stupid to mess things up...we were so happy he was with an Armenian girl ....and my dad wasn't mushy,or a believer in stuff like this...still he kept telling him to be careful and behave....that he had a bad BAD dream....my father died before the end of the week....he had dreamed of his own death.... who knows.... DominO123
Maral, what about the people who own black cats? How and from where did the black cat myth originate anyway? Anoushik, what is important is the symbol that represent the black cat for each person and the society in which he/she lives in. Remember the mutiverse? You live in your universe where the cat is a cat.

Sip
I think those of you that know me around here already know that I do NOT believe in any sort of hocus pocus, super-natural things, magic, God, reincarnation, spirits, ghosts, ESP, etc. However, I do think we have certain abilities to predict the future. As an example, if I run in the middle of a busy freeway, I can predict with high probability that I will be severely dead in a matter of seconds. Some people are better at this than others just like some people can lift more weight or do math faster than others. I also think (some others have mentioned this in other threads as well) that dreams are VERY powerful at times what they are telling us. It is one way we communicate with ourselves ... sometimes by thinking deeply about our dreams, we can understand things about ourselves, our experiences, and what is happening around us in ways that we hadn't realized before (not conciously at times). But at the same time, I do NOT believe dreams, premonitions, guesses, etc can predict random events in the future. By random I mean events that have NO scientific basis in being predictable. In other words, I would not waste time trying to analyze a premonition or a dream that seemed to predict some event that it had no business predicting As an example, I got a fortune cookie a few days ago that said I will get good news very soon. I walked back to the office and found out I had received a small grant from some company to do research for them. I can imagine some over-active mind jumping to all sorts of conclusions but to me, those two were entirely unconnected events, other than just their sheer temporal occurence order with respect to my self, which really doesn't mean much. Takoush
Sip jan: I had a premonition once and unfortunately it has become reality. I don't wish to say it in this link, but it happened to me. What do you say to that, I am wondering what you think?
Sip
Well, it really depends on what it was. As an example, if you had a premonition that you will have a bad cavity and it does happen, especially if you haven't been to the dentist for a checkup for 3 years, then I can easily imagine that premonition having had some valid basis. Also, having a premonition about yourself or someone you know being in a bad accident if you or that person are/is a careless driver and it happens to be a rainy and stormy that day, then again, I can see some basis for that type of a premonition if the accident does happen. But at the same time, I don't think having a dream or some thought about some more random event (as in something inherently unpredictable through other more scientific and deductive means) deserves much attention
Takoush
Mine was very very sad thing that happened in my life. Anyway. I had another such experience that happened sometime soon after my father died as of course, I have cried a great deal for his loss. But at the same time, I don't think having a dream or some thought about some more random event (as in something inherently unpredictable through other more scientific and deductive means) deserves much attention Sip, if we take a large section of the universe(multiverse), and we study it, the present of life seems randomnly chosen. When you take a section with life, let say Earth, it has some sense there is life, because of many parametters, if we approch and take a system in this Earth, in one environment in particular, orders seem more clear, and less randomnity. In this universe, there are orders, and things respect physical laws, if we were to take a more giant system, bunch of millions of universes, the presence of sensitical physical laws in one section will sound only random. But once you select it, you will find order. That some people will dream about events that will happen, and which are not predictable might sound only probabilistic if we take the whole system(with all people that dream about things which do not happen), for that person, localised with his or her dreams, it is ordered. If we had the mutilverse and the bunch of infinit numbers of universes in mind, us trying to study physical laws in our locality(this particular muiltiverse), is the same sort of selectivity and biases as someone that will realise that he dreams unpredictable things, and those things really happen. Let see what you will start doing, once you dream the death of a person you've seens ten years ago for the last time, and haven't seen him since and never dreamed about before. But since your expectations change your results, probably doubting will make it impossible for you to dream about. This has nothing to do with fortune tellers, because this can not happen when you want or expect, which make such people probably liars, since expectations to see anything will change the result.
