Dangerous Near Miss Today

On my way to work this morning I almost ended a very bad car wreck. There was construction up ahead and the traffic halted unexpectedly in front of me. I was going about 60 mph, then slammed on my brakes when I started to quickly close on the car in front of me. The breaking distance was to short, so I instinctively jerked the wheel to end up in the next lane, but my car fishtailed on me and I ended up doing a donut around the car in front (at this point I had no control of the vehicle). Luckily the space on front of that car was clear. I ended up in the grass between the two highway lanes facing the opposite direction I was going originally. Anyway, I was very very very lucky. Lucky that I didn't slam into the car in front, lucky that the space in front of that car was clear, lucky that there was nothing in the grassy area that my car could have slammed into, and lucky that the car didn't tip over in the grass section. Anyway, after my pulse came back to a managable level, I pulled out of the grass and back onto the highway, and drove to work as if nothing had happenned.

Skhara,

The construction crew were clearly negligent here. You are very lucky, but something seems terribly wrong here.

Obviously, the standard procedures that are supposed to be followed by the construction crew were not being followed.

Last week I called the police because a large truck working adjacent to a cemetery had parked in a traffic lane. No lights blinking, no cones, no flashers. NOTHING. This was in a traffic lane where the speed limit is 40 MPH. Perhaps the cemetary was looking for business.
